Chapter 65 SIXTY SIX

Chapter 65 SIXTY SIX
EMILY’S POV

The wolf was throwing its body heavily against the glass.

Growling viciously as thick saliva dropped from its mouth.

Quickly, Roman dragged Emily back, while they watched as Anthony backed orders at Researchers.

“What is going on?” Emily asked fearfully.

“It’s nothing,” Rachel says reassuring, “it’s reacting to new smell, and obviously can tell it’s in the presence of another wolf.”

“Come, let’s leave the researchers to do their work,” Anthony told them, before leading them out of the base they were in.

They went back to the lab, what Emily had just witnessed running through her mind.

“Are you ok?” Roman asked, observing how quiet she had been.

“Yea, I am fine.”

Anthony!! Emily called, facing her uncle.

He turned towards her, momentarily holding off on whatever he was discussing with Rachel.

“The experiment,” Emily says, “I have made up my mind, and would like to begin now.”

What!? Roman exclaimed in shock.

“You can’t be serious,” he says, glancing at her, before gently guiding her to a corner of the room.

“Are you sure about this?”.

“ I mean we just witnessed how unstable that wolf was, and God knows for how long that wolf would be in that state.”

“I know,” Emily told him, “but we need to do this now, and besides, I already know my wolf a little.”

“And besides,” she says, “I am not like any other wolf.”

Roman stared at her for a while, before reluctantly agreeing.

They walked back to where Anthony and Rachel stood, patiently waiting for them.

“So, what’s the final decision?”Anthony asked.

“I will be going through with the experiment,” Emily told him.

“Where is your brother?” Roman asked, looking around.

Now that he mentioned it, Emily hadn’t seen Mr Castor through out today.

“Out for some business,” Anthony told them, before giving Rachel the go ahead to start preparing.

“Do I need to do anything?” Emily asked, watching as Rachel and some other researchers went to work, running around as they prepared the glass tube.

“For now, no,” Anthony told her with a soft smile. “Just relax yourself.”

Emily smiled back at him, before sitting down on the sofa by the corner.

She watched as Roman discussed with Anthony some more, smiling softly at how worried he looked.

She glanced down at her stomach, gasping lightly at the kick’s coming from her babies.

Gently she traced her fingers over their tiny feet, humming softly.

She needed this experiment to work, for herself, her babies, and for Roman.

She was scared, but also strongly believed she would successfully overcome this.

Her wolf Chiara was strong, from the little interactions she had with her, and also, she wasn’t like that wolf.

She strongly wanted to believe everything would be ok.

Finally, Roman walked towards her, joining her on the couch.

They sat their silently, enjoying the comfortable silence between them.

Slowly Emily took his hands, placing it on her stomach were her babies were still kicking.

“Can you feel them?” she whispered out, staring at Roman.

“Yes I can,” Roman told her, rubbing his hands over her stomach.

I… before he could say what he wanted, Rachel interrupted them.

“It’s time,” she told them.

Roman helped Emily up, holding her hand as they walked closer to the glass.

Rachel gave Emily a simple cloth, before pointing her to wear she could change.

As Emily stripped off her clothes, it dawned on her that this was real.

Quickly she changed up, before walking out back.

She handed everything to Roman, before sighing out nervously.

Are you ready? Rachel asked her.

Emily glanced around at the three researchers behind Rachel, then to her uncle who was watching her, and finally to Roman.

“Yes,”she answered.

Rachel nodded, before proceeding to inject her with a clear liquid she had told Emily would help her numb the pain.

Finally, it was time for her to enter the glass tub.

Before Emily could go in, Roman stopped her, hugging her tightly.

“Promise me, you fight and come back for me and our babies.”

He whispered softly.

“I promise,” Emily whispered back.

“I love you Emily,” he told her, before letting her go.

Emily stared at him, his words ringing through her brain.

Before she could do anything, Rachel softly guided her into the glass.

The glass was colder than Emily expected.

She shivered slightly, watching as the other researchers strapped her down.

Rachel came forward, facing her head downwards, as she slowly inserted the string down Emily’s spinal cord.

Emily only felt a slight sting, the injection Rachel had given her, numbing the pain.

After they were done, they closed the glass tube, before starting the machine.

Emily gasped as pressure pressed down on her from all sides.

The machine made a loud wiring sound that was aggravating to her ears.

Suddenly, sharp pains filled her back, before finally reaching deep within her skull.

The pain was so intense, drawing a loud scream from Emily.

What was going on she thought, Rachel had told her she wouldn’t feel pain, but Emily was drowning in pain.

Trashing, Emily screamed again, convulsing as searing pain runs through her head.

She couldn’t tell how long she screamed, but suddenly everything went dark, the pain reduced to a dull throbbing.

Emily sighed out in relief, before opening her eyes.

Darkness, absolute darkness.

Hello!! Emily called into the darkness, coughing slightly at how horse her voice was.

Where was everyone? she thought.

Had they left her in the lab?

Hello!!!! Emily called again, the darkness, creating an uncomfortable feeling within her.

She shifted herself, before realizing she wasn’t strapped down anymore.

Instead, she was laying down on a hard surface.

Emily stretched out her body, confused about what was going on.

Uneasiness creeps down her body, the darkness sending an uncomfortable shiver down her back.

Slowly she stretches out her hands, moving slowly through the darkness.

Roman!! Emily screamed out, her voice echoing back at her.

Loud manic laughter filled the room, or wherever she was.

The chilling sound echoed around her, sending fear down her body.

“Who is there?” Emily called out.

She jumped back as cold hands touched her face.

“Who is there?” Emily called out fearfully.

“Guess who,” the voice whispers back, before pushing her.

Loud screams tore out from Emily’s mouth, as she fell to God knows where.
