Chapter 55 FIFTY SIX
EMILY’S POV
Alpha Castor!! Emily exclaimed in surprise. Hurriedly, she opened the door wider, allowing him to step inside.
She closed the door behind her, walking behind him. Roman greeted Alpha Castor, before ushering him to their couch.
They all sat down in silence, Emily sharing an uneasy glance with Roman.
“Is everything alright?”Roman spoke up, breaking the silence.
“Some things have come to light, it has changed my perspective on things.” Remember what we spoke of Alpha Castor asked, glancing at the both of them.
Emily swallowed thickly, wriggling her hands. The last time they had spoken, it was about Camille. Emily didn’t know if Alpha castor had found out the truth, and her heart pounded at the thought of them finally acknowledging themselves as father, and daughter.
I had secretly deployed my trusted warriors to find out more about that day, and it is now clear that someone had dubiously tried to make me believe that both my mate Camille and my daughter had both been killed and burnt.
He glanced at Emily, holding her gaze. “The first time I saw you, my wolf recognized something inside you but it was so faint, and I jogged it to the back of my mind. And even at that, your similarity to Camille is really uncanny.”
“I am so sorry that I gave up on finding you. I should have done more, instead I had allowed myself to be deceived.”
Emily blinked, wiping the tears silently falling from her face. She couldn’t believe that after all these years, she was finally sitting with her father.
Tentatively she stood up, walking towards him. Emily sat down beside him, wiping the lone tears that had slid down his face. “It’s not your fault, you were grieving, and had no reason to believe that someone out there was trying to deceive you.” Now that we are aware, “we need to find out who this person is?” and what their end game really is.
“We have reasons to suspect that Camille is still alive, and being held captive by those who had orchestrated the attack," Roman spoke up.
“What do you mean?” Alpha Castor asked sharply.
“I am sure you already know about my wolf,” Emily says, "I remembered something about that day. We had been attacked, and we both fought as much as we could. We were being shot at, and I remember Camille taking the shot meant for me. She told me to run, but I can remember vividly that she was still alive when I left her.”
“If only I had fought harder, maybe we both would have escaped.” Alpha Castor took Emily’s hands, holding it gently.
“It’s not your fault he told her, you did the best you could. Can you remember any faces from that day?” He asked her.
Emily shakes her head sadly, before glancing at Roman. As much as she was delighted about knowing at least one of the mysteries surrounding her life, she still didn’t trust Alpha Castor enough to fully tell him everything they had learnt about.
He would eventually find out on his own, and Emily didn’t know how to bring up the topic of her uncle’s.
“I think it’s best we keep the truth about you between us for now. I need to talk to Serena and Kimberly first of all, before letting the pack know.”
“Why don’t you hold off on telling Luna Serena,” Roman spoke sharply, before clearing his throat. “I mean we need to find out more, before we say anything to anyone.”
“I don’t mean to be disrespectful, but Luna Serena was the only survivor of what was a very brutal attack. It’s suspicious, and needs to be investigated.”
Emily glanced at Roman wide eyed, before glancing at Alpha Castor to gauge his reaction.
Alpha Castor, sighed. He kept quiet for a while, staring blankly at the television before him. “I have had my suspicions about Serena for some time now,” he says sadly. “Recently, my spies have notified me about some suspicious movements of her, and it has led me back to that moment. I know it’s risky telling her, but I need her to make a bold move.”
“What better way to spur her on than telling her about Emily still being alive?”
I remember now Emily says, standing up. “On the day of Kimberly’s party, I had seen her discussing suspiciously with someone that I have never seen in this pack before.”
They both turned to look at her, Roman rubbing his thumb over his eyelids.
“I am sorry Alpha,” Roman says, but Emily comes first to me. “I am not willing to put her in harm's way, especially since we don’t know what we are up against. I suggest we keep this between us, and then investigate more on this matter. I feel there is a lot we don’t know yet, we shouldn’t rush to poke the sleeping bear.”
Alpha Castor nodded, turning towards Emily. “You must think of me terribly, I just found you, and already about to put you in harm's way. I am sorry about that. I will keep this between us for now, while I investigate more.”
He glanced down at Emily’s stomach, before looking up at her.
“How are you going to give birth?” he asked.
Emily sat back down, gently rubbing her stomach. Sheila is currently running some research. “How was it with Camille?” she asked him.
Alpha Castor smiled, before frowning as if remembering something terrible. “It was a lot, it took Three days of howling in pain before Camille could push you out. I don’t know how you will do this, without fully being merged to your wolf.”
“You need your wolf strength, especially since you are carrying twins.”
Emily sighed, the weight of not being like other wolves pressing down on her. The what if, was like a swirling tornado disrupting her peace of mind.
We need to find a solution to this. I will contact some of my friends to know if anyone could bring another solution. And don’t worry he said, turning to Roman, I will be very discreet. If Camille is really alive, then the people that took her, would also be looking for Emily.
Alpha Castor stood up, walking towards the door. Emily and Roman followed behind him. They watched as he hid his face behind his hoodie, before turning towards them.
“The rogues,” Alpha Castor whispered out, turning towards Emily. “They were looking for you, which means someone else already knows what you really are.”
“You need to be very careful,” he says, before leaving.
