Chapter 54 FIFTY FIVE
EMILY’S POV
Life after the huge attack that had befallen the Red moon pack was bleak. Emily was thoroughly exhausted, they had lost even more warriors to their injuries, and currently the pack was in mourning.
She had heard that Stefan would be coming to render support, along with some of his warriors.
Emily sighed, drinking her sixth cup of coffee for the day. She knew drinking this much was unhealthy for herself, and even more for her babies. Yet she needed it, she was barely sleeping, afraid that she would Astral project somewhere else, unable to come back.
Sheila had noticed the unhealthy amount of caffeine she was consuming and had already warned her about it, Emily wished she could share what was bothering her with Sheila, as Roman has been so busy with helping Alpha Castor train more warriors.
She still hasn't gotten the time to tell him about her latest developments, and with her due date fast approaching, Emily still had to worry about merging her wolf.
“What’s going on?” Sheila asked her, coming to stand beside her. “Ever since what happened, you have been spaced out, barely sleeping and consuming way more caffeine than you should.”
“I don’t know,” Emily says, lying through her teeth. “I guess it’s just the thought of what would have happened if you were not there, the uneasiness around the pack, and my due date almost here. It’s just a lot, and I am thoroughly stressed out.”
“I know,” Sheila says, "but you need to let go of the caffeine. Everything is going to be fine.”
Emily nodded her head, sighing before dropping the cup she was currently holding. “Can I ask you something?” she asked Sheila, turning so she was facing her.
“Sure, what is it?”
“What’s the chance of me birthing my babies successfully?” I read that I needed to be in my wolf form to push them out, but you already know that I can’t really control my wolf.
Sheila kept quiet for a while, she stood up, going towards her desk drawer, before coming back with a piece of paper. She handed it to Emily, before sitting back down.
“What’s this?” Emily asked, reading what had been written down hurriedly on the paper.
“I have been talking with some of my friends in the field, and we have been trying to come up with a solution that might work out successfully.”
Emily pecked up at that, happy to know that another solution was available.
“What is it?”she asked impatiently.
“It’s a form of birth commonly done in the human medical field. It’s called a C- section, I have to cut you open to bring out the babies, and when we are done, we stitch you back up. Now I am not going to lie, you not being fully merged with your wolf, poses a huge risk.”
“We can’t tell what would happen, or what can trigger your wolf to change. We still need to do more research, hopefully we also find a solution to your wolf problems.”
Emily sat there, her heart hammering as she thought of everything Sheila had just told her. It was about time she tracked down her uncle, she needed to speak to him physically this time about the solution he had for merging her wolf.
“You keep saying WE,” she asked Sheila, “who are these people you are working with?”Emily needed to know, she was skeptical about more people knowing about her wolf, and with everything she currently knew, she had to be careful.
“Oh, just some of my colleagues from other packs.” It’s ok, I promise to find a solution, just please lay back on the caffeine.
They both chuckled at that. Emily stood up, gathering her stuff. She was tired, and couldn’t keep running away from sleeping.
She said her goodbyes to Sheila, before walking home. The pack was currently under construction, her house being one of them. Sheila had offered that she come stay with her till everything was repaired, but Emily had refused. She didn’t want to impose on Sheila who was already housing a few people, and also she didn’t want to leave Roman.
They were currently sharing his room, and she knew he could tell that something was bothering her. She had been pretending to sleep most nights, and she didn’t want to wake a very exhausted Roman up because of her problems.
Lord knows he needed to rest, he was always taking care of her, now it was her turn to take care of him.
By the time she got home, she was surprised to see the light on. She slowly walked to her front porch, before she could bring out her keys, Roman opened the door, a trash bag in his hands.
He smiled at her, before going out to dispose of the trash. Emily walked inside, the aroma of what Roman had been cooking filling the whole house. The whole house was sparkling, ongoing repairs had been completed already.
“Did you take time off from work?” she asked Roman, immediately as he entered.
“Yes,” he replied. “I couldn’t concentrate, and excused myself. I picked up a few things needed, for the repairs, and with some other guys, fixed what was remaining.”
He went round the kitchen counter, offering Emily a glass of water, before bringing out a stool for her to sit on.
“I know everything has been hectic these few days, and I have not been present. I noticed you haven’t been sleeping, and I understand that anyone would be uncomfortable sleeping somewhere they had been attacked, especially since the reminder of that attack was everywhere.”
“So I had to take some time off to repair everything, I want you to be comfortable and to feel safe.”
Emily smiled at Roman, taking his large hands in his. “Thank you very much for doing this, I really appreciate it, but that is not really the reason I haven’t been sleeping.”
“You see a few days ago I did something that I cannot even begin to comprehend or understand, but it happened, and it really scared me. I am not sleeping because I am scared of not waking up.”
Roman frowned, holding her hands more tightly. “What is it Emily?” He asked worriedly.
Emily gently removed her hands from his, she stood up from the stool she was sitting on, pacing around as she thought of the best way to voice out what she wanted to say.
Roman stood up immediately, coming to stand in front of her. He stopped her pacing, his hands holding her steady.
“You can tell me anything Emily, I am always here to listen.”
“That day my heart stopped,” she began, taking a deep breath. “I was dreaming, or so I thought, I met Anthony, and he told me something about myself that not many people know about.”
“I can Astral project myself into people's dreams. Of course we didn’t know my heart had to stop for that, and that’s why I have been so scared to sleep. If Sheila hadn’t brought me back, who knows if I would have been dead, and then what happens to my babies?”
“Wait, hold on, you can do what?” Roman exclaimed, staring at her in shock.
Before Emily could explain herself better, their door bell rang. They both stared at themselves, the door bell rang again, Emily glanced at Roman who was still staring at her as if she had suddenly grown two heads.
She sighed, before walking towards the door. They were not expecting anyone, and she wondered if Sheila had decided to drop by.
Emily froze as she swung the door open. An unknown man stood there, he was putting on an oversized hoodie covering his head and face, with simple joggers.
Sudden fear grips Emily as she clutches the door tightly. “Can I help you?” she asked, raising her voice a bit higher so Roman could hear her.
The man muttered something under his breath, before removing the hoodie from his head.
Emily’s eyes widened at the familiar face of Alpha Castor, staring back at her.
