Chapter 47 FOURTY EIGHT
EMILY’S POV
Emily stopped in front of the pack’s infirmary, she has not seen Sheila since she came back, the last she saw her, they had not parted on a good term.
She walked into the infirmary nervously, she hoped they were still friends, and that what transpired between them had not broken their new but fast friendship.
As soon as Emily walked in, Sheila grinned wide, before hugging her.
“I am so glad you came back safely,” me and Roman have been so worried.
Emily smiled, hugging her back. “I am glad to be back too,” she says, before breaking up the hug.
“What happened?” Sheila queried, guiding Emily to one of the couches. Roman told me snippets, it’s just confusing to me.
Emily coughed, she knew Sheila was smart, and as a doctor will want to know what really transpired so she could help. Now was the time for Emily to recite what she had revised so many times already. It was not that she didn’t trust Sheila, it was just better if the meeting with her uncle was just between her and Roman.
“I don’t know,” Emily says. “One minute I was looking for Roman at the party, next moment I was waking up in front of the pack border.”
“That’s scary,” Sheila says, her eyebrows frisked together in worry. “To not have control of your wolf, it’s really scary to think of.”
“So you have no recollection of what your wolf was up to in those moments?”
“No I don’t, it’s just like falling asleep, then the next moment you are waking up in an unfamiliar environment. Luckily for me my wolf brought me back to the pack.”
Sheila nodded, her hands squeezing Emily’s own in comfort. Before she could say anything else, they were interrupted by a patient. From there, it just kept getting more busy.
After they were done for the day, they both left the infirmary, before walking towards the pack market. Emily had been craving chicken stew, she wanted to buy the ingredients so she could make them.
She was stunned when they got to the market. Every time, she is reminded why this pack was one of the biggest, and richest. The market was big, with different stalls. Each seller had their goods neatly arranged, and labeled, making it easier to locate whatever you wanted.
Emily browsed through different stalls, picking up everything she needed and more.
“What’s with the fence?” she asked Sheila who was staring at two different meat, confused on which one to go for.
Hm!” I don’t really know, but rumors have it that the Rogues are planning a big attack. Some of the smaller packs have been attacked, I guess Alpha Castor is just preparing.”
Emily nodded her head, her thoughts going towards her uncles. She didn’t know them at all, she only knew what she was told. She wondered if they were part of the attack, or was it done by other Rogues.
“Beef or chicken?” Sheila asks her, shoving them both in front of Emily.
“Hum! I don’t know, I am not the one eating it.”
Sheila sighs, throwing both of them into the basket she was holding.
They paid for all they had bought. Then Sheila drove Emily home, saying goodbye to her before driving off.
Emily carried the bag of groceries into the house, panting in exhaustion. Roman wasn’t home, that was to be expected, as he had told her he would be working late.
She arranged everything she bought to their rightful place, before boiling the chicken. After that, she prepared everything she needed to make the stew. When everything was ready, Emily ate as much as she could, saving some for Roman, before going up to her room.
Emily stripped off her clothes hurriedly, before hopping into the shower. The warm water cascading down her body, helps her relax her aching muscles. Her thoughts wandered to Roman, ever since she came back, they have been sleeping in the same bed together.
Emily liked it, she felt safer with his strong arms around her, she also slept better. She brushed her teeth, before leaving the bathroom.
Emily browsed through her nighties, she didn’t know if Roman was going to be sleeping in her bed tonight, but still she wanted to look cute and sexy.
Finally, Emily settles on a two piece. The white silk nighties complimented her eyes. She brushed her hair out, before spraying a new perfume.
Emily glanced at herself on her dressing mirror, satisfied with her look, before laying down on her bed. She sent a quick message to Roman, asking him when he would be coming home.
After waiting for a while with no response, Emily sighs, before snuggling herself into the covers of her bed.
Strong warm hands encircle Emily waist, waking her from her sleep. She turned, facing Roman. He was fast asleep already, his handsome face looking tired. Emily smiled softly, gently adjusting herself in his hands. She didn’t want to wake him, but she couldn’t help herself as she ran her hands over his face.
Her hands lightly traced every curve of his face, memorizing every detail.
“Doesn’t he look dashing,” a voice snickers inside her head.
Emily's eyes widened, it’s been a long time since she had from her wolf. “Where have you been?” She thinks, hoping that her wolf could hear her.
“Stop screaming Chaira grumbled out, I can hear you just fine.”
“Sorry,” Emily thinks, this whole thing was strange to her, she still didn’t know how talking to one’s wolf was supposed to be.
“Where have you been?” Emily repeated.
“Deep inside your mind,” it takes a lot of energy to speak to you.
“I am so sorry, very soon everything will be sorted out.”
They both kept quiet for a while, both of them observing Roman as he slept.
“I miss him,” Chiara mutters sadly.
“What do you mean?” Emily asks in confusion.
Chiara grunted. It’s something you have to find out on your own, I just!! She keeps quiet, now was not the right time to tell Emily about how deeply connected she and Roman were. It was best she figured it out on her own.
“It’s nothing,” Chaira says, "just be careful. Don’t believe everything you hear, and be careful who you trust.”
Emily sighed out, Chiara never told her anything, always speaking evasively.
Both her and Roman, jerked up as loud alarm rings throughout the pack.
“What is that?” Emily asked Roman, her heart beating wide as the alarm sounded louder.
“It’s a warning bell," Roman says solemnly, “the pack is under attack.”
