Chapter 33 CHAPTER THIRTY FOUR
EMILY’S POV
Today was the day she would finally know her fate. Emily clutched her purse, the folded piece of paper with everything she wanted to know stored inside.
She glanced at Roman who had insisted on being here today, before looking down at her hands as they waited for Alpha Castor to finish the call he was making.
Emily glanced around the office, noticing the fresh flowers behind his chair. She slapped Roman laps gently, stopping the repeated tapping he had been doing with his legs. She had noticed, he did that whenever he was anxious.
“I am sorry for the delay,” Alpha Castor says, as he joins them, taking his seat.
“It’s no problem,” Sir, Roman responded.
“So you have come back, regarding our discussion the last time he says.
“The little girl, was she Camille’s child?” Emily asked, straight to the point.
“Yes,” she was both me and Camille's child. “Her name was Emily Snow Red.” A lovely girl, just like her mother.
“What happened?” Emily asked. “If truly you say Camille was a true Alpha, then how was she killed?”
Alpha Castor leaned back against his seat, glancing out his window.
Although Camille was my mate, a lot of my pack members were against it, myself being the number one. But I couldn’t reject her. She had saved my pack that night and for that alone I was grateful. She stood by my side relentlessly, no matter how she was treated by my pack.
Eventually my heart melted, and I fell in love with her. We consummated our mate bond despite protests from some of my pack and the councils.
A lot of them left the pack, calling me a coward and not fit to be an Alpha. I changed the name of the pack to what it is now, and together with those that stayed we rebuilt the pack to what it is today.
But in all these, Camille always chased her lineage, trying to find out more about herself or where she was from especially after finding out she was pregnant.
For years she searched, the fear of passing her curse like she calls it, overwhelmingly her.
Eventually she gave up, giving birth successfully. She would always watch Emily, waiting for any sign that she was different. And one day, her fears were confirmed.
Alpha Castor sighed, a solemn look on his face. Emily felt guilty for making him remember what seems to be a painful past for him, but she needed to know her own fate.
That fateful day, Snow, as we liked to call her, Alpha Castor says, smiling softly. had been playing with her friends. One of them had taken her favorite toy, they fought for it and the boy had pushed Snow down. In anger and without meaning too, she had clawed deeply at the young boy.
Their screams had drawn everyone out. When people found out, they treated Snow as a monster, restricting their children from playing with her.
That had weighed down on Camille, and not too long after, she started searching for her lineage, anything that would tell her how to cure her daughter or at least suppress her wolf.
Roman pecked up at that, his attention focused. “Was she able to find it?”he asked.
Emily glanced at him, watching his concentrated expression. She smiled, turning her head back to Alpha Castor.
For years she searched, meeting different researchers. I warned her about how dangerous it was, not every one was on your side I told her yet she didn’t listen. That picture you have, was taken a day before they left He says.
She had been contacted by one of the researchers, claiming they had found out about her lineage, and a cure. I had a very important meeting to attend, so I could not go with her. But Serena and some of my best guards had gone with her.
“Wait, Luna Serena?” Emily asked.
“Yes,” Alpha Castor says, the Serena you know now, was once Camille's best friend.
Both Roman, and Emily exchanged surprise glances, before facing Alpha Castor.
The day before that day, we had a mini party, danced and laughed, and then Serena took that picture of us.
Camille had urged Snow to bury things she wanted to remember, It was like a mini ritual between them.
Then the next day, they had set out for their journey. I never knew that would be the last time I saw them.
For three days no contact, I had called around but the researchers were confused, they had not called about any breakthrough.
“So who called then?” Or, “did Camille lie?” Emily asked, confused.
“I believe she was set up," Roman said, facing her. She had a lot of enemies, and I am very sure, that Camille desperately searching for a cure, for something most would consider a blessing. Would gather her more enemies.
I am sorry to ask, Roman says, but apart from you and obviously Serena. “Who else knew about her mission?”
Alpha Castor sighed, glancing at them. I don’t know, i am sure that only me and Serena knew about it, but I cannot be sure how many people Camille contacted in her search.
Roman nodded, before leaning back against his chair.
“So what happened?”Emily asked.
Well I ordered a search immediately, we searched for three days, before finally finding a disheveled looking Serena.
She narrated what had happened. According to her, they had been attacked by rogue wolves. She had fought as much as she can, before blacking out.
By the time she woke up, Camille and Snow was no where to be found. We investigated the area for weeks, no sign of them.
“So how sure are you, about Camille being dead?”
Alpha castor sighed, something Emily noticed he had been doing a lot of.
Because after searching, her body was found not too long from where they had been attacked, covered by dying leaf, I don’t know how we missed it.
“So what does this mean?” Emily mumbles out.
“If Camille was my mother, dose that make you my father?”
Alpha Castor sit up straighter, a deep frown as he stared at her. “What do you mean by that?” He asked sharply.
““Well, you see, the whole point of this is that picture. I believe that little girl is me, that means Camille is my mother and you my father. I don’t know if you were informed, but Roman had found me nearly dead, he had saved me and since then we have been trying to find out where I was from.””
“I am just surprised you didn’t search for me,”Emily says sadly.
“Wait,”Alpha Castor says, standing up. They watched him as he paced back and forth.
That can be he mutters, staring at her. I didn’t search for Snow, because there was no need to he says.
“What do you mean?” Roman asked.
Alpha Castor paused, glancing at both her and Roman. ““I mean both Camille and Snow where both found dead, their body badly burnt.””
“So you see,” he says, staring wide eyed at Emily, i can’t possibly be your father.
