Chapter 24 CHAPTER TWENTY FIVE
EMILY’S POV
I am so sorry, Emily says, as Sheila glances at her. She bent down to pick the spoon, her heart in her throat. She dropped the spoon in the sink, along with her remaining food before going to her room.
They needed privacy, and Emily didn’t want to sit there to listen to Roman’s answer.
Why was she always in a messy situation? She asked herself.
She laid there, thinking about what happened between her and Roman, her thoughts spiraling. What if Roman accepted? What was she going to do huh!! He had promised to stay by her side, but for how long?
She sighed, confused. Exhaustion creeped in slowly as she drifted off to sleep.
Chaira was standing in front of a large red house. Emily could see through her eyes, as their paws sink into the soil. She looks down, noting how tiny her paws were as she runs round the yard, a blue ball in her mouth.
Catch, hurry, she looks up at a familiar face but slightly older. This person resembles her so much, she runs towards where the person had thrown the ball, walking deeper into the forest around the yard.
Emily giggles, as the person behind her tucked her hair behind her ear. “Are you ready, snow?” they asked.
Emily looked down, she looked around, noting a younger her. She was kneeling in front of a huge tree behind the large red house. Her purple gown flowing down her body. In her hands was a large wooden box.
“Are you ready, snow?” The older woman asked again, smiling softly at her. She nodded her head, before putting the box into the already dug ground. Her tiny hands, burying the box.
“Snow, snow!! Where are you?”
Coming papa she shouted back, before standing up, her tiny dirty hands clutched in that of the older woman as she walked away from the box buried under the tree.
Emily groaned, as the loud kick from her babies woke her up. She rubbed her stomach, her hands resting on theirs. You can’t wait to come out right, she says, smiling softly.
She laid there for a while, her dream already fading from her mind.
She turned her head towards her door, the soft tapping making her rise up, as she walked towards it. Roman stood there, already dressed, his hair slightly wet. He looks at her, clearing his throat as he smiles.
“Good morning,” he says, glancing down at the hand she had placed firmly on her stomach.
“Good morning,” she greeted back.
“Are you ok?” he asked her.
“Not really, I am tired, and the babies have been kicking repeatedly.”
“Oh,” he says, his eyes on her stomach.
Hmmm, “do you want us to stay home today?” he asked.
“What!!!, no,” I need to get some supplies for Sheila. And besides, I am sure everything will be fine.
Roman hesitated, almost reaching out for her, before he clenched his hands by his side.
It’s fine, Roman. If I need you, I would let you know, ok.
“I prepared something for you to eat, make sure you eat them ok," he says, kissing her cheeks unexpectedly, before walking away.
Emily smiled widely, that simple act brightening her up. She freshened up, making sure everything she needed for today was in her bag, before walking downstairs. Like he said, Roman had made toasted bread and eggs for her, a fresh glass of milk beside the plate.
She ate her food, taking her morning vitamins, before leaving for the pack infirmary.
When she got there, she was surprised at how busy the place was. She quickly dropped her stuff, before going to help Sheila.
Miss Emily, Miss Emily!! Emily turned at the sound of her name, behind her, walking fast towards her was Miss Genevieve, Maria clutched on her arms. She stopped in front of Emily, breathing heavily.
Hello!!Emily greeted, ““how is Maria now?””she asked, glancing at the little girl.
““Oh, she is quite better today thanks,”” but I came like you said, to see Miss Sheila.
Emily nodded her head, before directing Miss Genevieve to where she could sit and wait.
She walked towards Sheila who was busy attending to a little boy, greeting her before focusing on the others. Most of them preferred to wait till Sheila was done, and Emily understood.
I mean she was new to the pack, and just started her training, it was an expected reaction, yet it hurt her a little bit.
She sighed, handing Sheila the tools she had requested for. That was how they did, before finally attending to everyone.
They both slumped down, tired.
“Hey,”Sheila called.
Emily glanced up at her, waiting for her to say why she had called.
“Hmm, I saw what happened,” and I just want you not to take it to heart, they need time to get used to you.
“It’s fine, " Emily said, chuckling. I expected something like this.
She stood up, walking towards her bag, before drinking from the bottle of water there.
She jumped, startled, as warm hands touched her neck. Turning, she is surprised to see Sheila standing very close to her as she observes her neck.
“Is that a hickey?” She asked, her eyebrows pinched together.
“Wha!!t” Emily stammered, her hands going towards her neck. Shit!!!She had forgotten to cover it up.
Oh! this, Emily said, awkwardly. I woke up this morning and found my neck like this. So, how about that supply you wanted me to help you collect? she asked, changing the topic.
Sheila looked at her for a while, before giving up. She sighed as she walked towards her desk drawer, before coming back with a piece of paper.
Sheila directed Emily again, telling her she really didn’t need to go get it, but Emily insisted, her excuse being that she needed to familiarize herself with the pack. Which was true, but Emily also couldn’t stand being in Sheila's presence right now.
She took her bag, bidding Sheila farewell before hightailing out of there. sighing, as she closed the door. Emily dragged her bag up her shoulder, before walking out of the pack’s infirmary.
She walked, taking different directions she didn’t know about, glad to have insisted on this. As she saw, different aspects of the Red Moon pack. Emily hid behind a stall, as she observed Stefan and Kimberly, discussing with some of the pack members.
So, he was still here, she thought, taking another direction. She stopped walking, looking down at the piece of paper. According to the directions on it, she was supposed to be in front of the house she was getting the supplies from.
Emily looked around, confused about where she was. In her haste to avoid Stefan, she probably had entered the wrong direction. Emily sighed as she walked around, hoping to see someone she could ask for directions.
Emily, groaned loudly at the sudden piercing pain running through her skull, holding her head as she screamed. Rapid tears fall from her eyes, the pain forcing her to her knees.
Next thing she knows, Chaira was running through a dense forest, while Emily watched from her eyes. She felt caged, as she screamed at Chiara to give her control.
I am almost there, Chiara said, running faster through the forest. So this was how Chiara felt Emily thought, resigned to watching her fate from Chiara’s eyes.
They stopped in front of a large red house, the house was renovated to fit the modern times, but some part of it still had traces of the original structure. Beautiful flowers were planted around the back, the smell of cinnamon filling the air. Chaira ran faster, stopping in front of a large tree.
She digs around frantically, growling as her paws dug rapidly into the soil. What are you doing? Emily asked, confused on why Chaira would take over her body without permission, might she add, to go dig around someone else's backyard.
Chaira paused, as they glanced at the old wooden box buried under the tree. Emily screamed as their mind scrambled, deep buried memories trying to surface through whatever was holding it down.
They howled loudly and painfully, before falling to the ground unconscious.
