Chapter 23 CHAPTER TWENTY Four
ROMAN’S POV
Step away from her, Roman’s father said, coming into the room with Alpha Regan.
I glanced up at him, tears in my eyes. He hurriedly ran to me, helping me stand up before hugging me tightly.
Now I wasn’t a crybaby, or even the crying type, as my father had taught me that only weak men cried. But the recent events would make anyone cry.
Stefan spoke rapidly, explaining everything that had happened, trying his best to describe the unknown man.
Roman moved back from his father’s arm, running towards the door he had seen Miss Falcon come out from. Emily!!!! Roman screamed, walking into the room.
His wide eyes took in the scene before him. Emily was hung like a scarecrow, bloodied. Roman gasped, tears streaming down his eyes as he called for his father.
He walked towards her, observing the liquid that was hung beside her, connecting to her spine.
What had Miss Falcon been doing to her? he thought. Guilty that he had allowed her to take Emily.
His father, Stefan and Alpha Regan walked into the room, observing everything. He turned, facing his father.
“What do you think they did to her?” Roman asked, stretching out his hands towards Emily.
Stop! Alpha Regan commanded.
Roman hands paused their movements, before slowly lowering down. His wolf whined painfully, the sight of Emily tugging at their heart.
Through the pack link, Alpha Regan sent a signal, alerting the pack to the newest situation.
“Are you sure, there was only one man?” Alpha Regan asked, his commanding tone ringing through the room.
“Yes father,” Stefan answered him.
Three of the pack warriors rushed into the room, moving towards Emily, as they tentatively lowered her down from where her small body had been hung.
She moaned lowly, startling everyone. They had all thought she was unconscious.
Roman, she muttered lowly, opening her eyes.
Ignoring his father’s call, Roman ran towards her, crouching down on the floor as he took her small hands in his.
I am here Emily, he whispered to her, Everything is going to be alright.
She clutched his hands tightly, tears sliding down her face.
Roman carried her, limping as he walked slowly out of the room. He passed the lifeless body of Miss Falcon, his father, stopping the guards trying to take her away from him. everyone stepped back, as he carried her out.
His mother was outside already, rushing towards Roman as she assisted him, gently leading him towards the car parked in front of Miss Falcon house.
With his mum's assistance, he laid Emily on the back seat of the car, before climbing in, taking her hands in his. His mum glanced at them worriedly, dread filling her stomach.
She left them, discussing with his dad who had come out of the house. They both turned, glancing towards Roman.
Roman gently stroked Emily’s hair, noting how hot her body temperature was.
Mum he called out, panicked as Emily started hyperventilating.
His mum rushed towards them, pulling Roman down from the car, before slowly moving towards Emily. She placed her hands on her forehead, while his dad held the now trashing Emily down.
Her temperature is going up by the minute she said, glancing at his father. I need to remove whatever this stuff is, attached to her spine. Gently they turned Emily, his mum running her hands round her back.
She unhooked the stuff connected to Emily, dragging the long string that had been pushed deep into her spine out. Emily screamed as she thrashed about, his father pressing down on her as he tried to hold her still.
After his mum had successfully removed the string, Emily stopped thrashing. She laid there quietly, her breath deep as she cried.
For such a small child, she had suffered greatly.
Roman entered the car, rubbing her hair gently, his soothing touch offering her the comfort she greatly needed.
I need to take her to the pack infirmary, his mum said, turning towards his dad. We really don’t know what we pulled out of her, or the effects it could have on her. We need to monitor her, she says, running her hands through her hair.
Ok, I will meet you at the infirmary, he told her, asking one of the warriors to follow us. He rested his gaze on me for a while, before he turned, walking back into Miss Falcon house.
His mum drove towards the pack house, her eyes glancing at us through the review mirror. She sighed, before flickering her gaze towards a sleeping Emily.
When they got to the pack infirmary, the warrior helped carry Emily, while Roman and his mum followed behind.
He placed Emily on one of the beds, before stepping outside, taking Guard at the front of the door. Nurses rushed around, taking Emily’s temperature, while his mum explained everything to the doctor.
They stood back, as they watched the doctor attending to Emily. After stabilizing her, the doctor and his mother went out, while Roman moved towards her, his hands running through her hair.
He changed into his wolf, cuddling into her side.
For three days and nights Roman refused to leave Emily's side, growling at anyone who tried to separate him from her. The only people he allowed close were the doctors and nurses and even then, his watchful eyes observed them throughout.
Eventually they gave up, his mum occasionally bringing food that Roman would ignore completely. He didn’t know why, but his wolf had taken over, Roman relenting all control to him.
On the fourth day, soft hands stroking his furs woke him up. He observed from his wolf’s eyes as they glanced up, their eyes lightening up at the sight of Emily, sitting up, her gaze out the window. Roman stood up, licking her face happily as he wagged his tails.
Emily giggled, the sight warming Roman’s heart. They played around, before a nurse came into the room. She checked Emily, briefly glancing down, at the wolf that had refused to leave her side.
She shakes her head, a soft smile on her face.
Roman’s mum enters into the room, her face lighting up the the sight of his wolf jumping around, a far cry from the sad wolf that he had been for the last three days.
She walked forward, running her hands through his furs, before looking towards Emily.
“Is she good to go?” she asked the nurse, watching as she unhooked the dried up IV drip, connected to Emily.
“Yes,” the nurse says, before leaving them.
“How are you feeling?” his mum asked Emily.
“I feel better now,” Emily mutters out, giggling as Roman licks her face.
Roman, his mum chastised him, shooing him away from Emily.
Roman jumped down from the bed, wagging his tail. He sniffed the nylon his mother was holding, hunger ravaging his stomach.
His mum shaked her head, bringing out the food she had brought for him, he dragged the meat from her hands, tearing into it.
His mum sighed, before handing Emily the food she had also brought for her.
After eating, Roman changed into his human self, running towards Emily as he hugged her, before helping her down the bed.
They gathered everything, before leaving the hospital, Emily’s injury gone. By now Roman’s legs had healed completely. He stretched it, running out of the hospital room, Emily close behind.
As they got back to their house, they were surprised to see a few cars parked there already. Roman came down with Emily, his mom closing the car before they walked towards their house.
As they walked in, Roman spotted his father, sitting on their couch, his face in a grim line, while Bella sat beside him. Across them was an unknown person, all Roman could see was long blonde hair flowing down her back. Five guards were stationed around her, flanking both her and his father.
“What’s going on?” his mum asked as they walked towards them.
The blonde lady stood up, turning towards them. Her sharp red eyes glancing down at Emily.
The council, his father said, they are here for Emily.
