Chapter 10 CHAPTER TEN

Chapter 10 CHAPTER TEN
EMILY’S POV

Releasing the pain inside me, I howled in grievance. The sound of it, felt in every soul within the Red moon pack. I shake my head, my eyes adjusting to the room.

I moved to stand up, surprised that I couldn’t. Looking down, I am alarmed when instead of my smooth pale legs, strong calves stand instead. When had I changed to my wolf I thought. I howled excitedly, wagging my tails when Sheila ran into the room.

I jumped excitedly around her, her eyes wide in surprise as she took me in. Unable to stay still, I dash past the open door, sprinting into the expanse of forest at the back of the pack infirmary.

The cold air ruffling through my furs, my hoofs sinking into the soil as I ran, fulfilled a part of me that had been long buried. Finally I stopped, resting close to a river bank. I drank from it, before laying down.

I closed my eyes, my soul feeling the gentle hum swirling inside my stomach. I waggled my tail, excited and relieved that I could feel and hear the beating heart of my unborn babies.

I remember Stefan, clawing into my stomach. I whine sorrowfully, the loss of my mate and friend, running through me.

After a while of laying there, my wolf, enjoying the peace and quiet. I trudged back to the pack infirmary. I knew Sheila and Roman would be worried, but had decided to give me this quiet time.

Slowly I trudged back, taking my time as I observed the forest from my wolf eyes.

As I came closer to the infirmary, I paused, my nose sniffing the air, as a sweet smell called to me. I followed the scent, stopping at the sight of Sheila and Roman. They stood in front of the infirmary, their voice tight and sharp as they whispered, their heads close together.

I growl loudly, unknown feelings flooding through my body. I ran, hurling myself at Sheila as I growled menacingly at her.

Sheila screamed, her eyes wide with shock as she covered her face. I snared at her, trying to control a part of me that desperately wanted to tear into her throat.

Emily, Roman called softly. My head snapped to the direction of his voice, I got off from Sheila, jumping on Roman as I happily licked his face, coating him with my scent.

I whine in joy, my tail wagging as I licked all over Roman. MATE, my wolf purred happily, snuggling closer to Roman.

We laid there for a while, me growling at whoever came close. Eventually, my eyes closed softly, exhaustion taking over.

The next time I woke up, I was at home. I blinked, gasping as I jotted awake, my hands going towards my stomach. I sighed, relieved at the sight of my growing bulge. For some reason I felt stronger, an electrifying buzz running through my body.

I pulled the covers away from my body, before standing up. Stefan flashed through my mind, his angry eyes before he clawed at my stomach, where our unborn babies were, filtering through my mind.

Did he hate me that much? Enough to want to kill me and my babies.

I sighed, removing every inch of clothing on my body before going towards the mirror, hanging on the far end of my room. I took in my body, my brown hair was longer now, flowing straight down to my butt. My brown eyes were dull, hidden pain barely concealed, could be seen if you stared at them too long. I take in my pale skin, observing how fuller my breast was.

I run my hands over my stomach, touching the small scar resting below. My skin was smooth and apart from my scar, every other injury I had sustained was neatly healed up.

I walked towards the bathroom, gasping as the cold water cascaded down my body. I washed my hair and body thoroughly, before stepping out.

I put on a simple sweater, pairing it with one of Roman’s joggers I had claimed as mine, before stepping out of my room.

The house was silent, Roman nowhere in sight. I walked towards the kitchen, opening up the cabinet, hoping that Roman had stocked up on the groceries.

I turned at the sound of the door opening, Roman and Sheila were laughing as they discussed bags of groceries on both their hands. stepping inside, They paused midway in their conversations, smiling at the sight of me.

I looked at them awkwardly, when had they become close I thought, forcing my mouth to smile back.

Sheila came close, dropping the bag of groceries, before hugging me tightly.

““I am so happy to see you,””she said, before stepping back.

I looked towards Roman, who had not said anything. Instead he silently came forward, placing the bags in his hands, before bringing out its contents. I frowned, confused with his silent attitude.

Sheila noticed my gaze, smiling awkwardly at me as she ushered me to the bag of groceries they had come in with.

““Well we had plans of making spaghetti, are you ok with that?”” she asked me.

“It’s fine," I replied, helping her arrange the stuff they bought.

““How are you feeling?”” Sheila asked me, her green eyes shining as she stared at me.

“Am ok,” I whispered, my gaze quickly glancing towards Roman.

Had everything been a dream I wondered. I could have sworn my wolf had claimed Roman as Mate, yet his attitude suggested otherwise. I searched inside myself, trying to feel that overwhelming feeling I felt for him when in my wolf, instead it was just a dull throb.

The attraction was there for sure, but I can’t explain it. Something is missing, or blocking it.

At the sound of his voice, I peeked at him from under my lashes. He was talking to Sheila, as they huddled close to the stove.

I clenched my hands, folding it against my chest. So!!!! What happened to Stefan? I asked, watching as they both stiffened.

He is where he belongs, Roman gritted out, before marching out of the kitchen.

My eyes followed his movements, till he went up the stairs to his room. I sighed before turning to face Sheila.

“What happened?” after he tried to claw his way into my stomach, I asked bluntly.

Sheila sighed, her concentration on the pot of food she was making.

““He is being held in the pack’s holding cell.”” Sheila said, Alpha Castor has been waiting for you, so he can decide what to do with him.

““Can he do that?”” I asked, Stefan is an Alpha in his own right, and now that an alliance has been signed between the pack, I wondered if this act won’t be frowned upon by the Silver Crescent pack.

““Yes, Sheila said, with anger in her tone.”” He tried to kill you, and your unborn babies. If I had not been there, I don’t know what would have happened.

The alliance was signed through marriage, and frankly speaking every of the pack's members are against it. Nobody wants to be affiliated with an Alpha that can easily decide that death is the best option.

His anger is justified, nobody is denying him that. But he didn’t respect my Alpha and his code of conduct.

I sighed, how did it come to this? I asked Sheila. Never in my life had I imagined that me, Stefan and Roman would be in this kind of situation.

She stopped what she was doing, turning to face me. Life is unexpected that way she said, “what are you going to do?”” She asked me, sitting down on the stool close by.

I!!! The ringing of the doorbell cut me off from whatever I wanted to say. We glanced at ourselves, are you expecting anyone? I asked Sheila.

No. Can you check who it is she said, standing up to check on the food. The aroma filled up the whole house.

I stood up, walking towards the door. I opened it up, my eyes widening at who stood there.

Kimberly, I gasped out.
