Chapter 94 Usual Room
ANNA'S POV
As soon as Ryan walked in, the man who was checking for reservations gave him a polite nod.
“The usual room?” Ryan asked, and the man nodded. Ryan wrapped his arm around mine as he led me to the elevator, and I found myself holding my breath.
Whatever I was about to see was something that I hadn't seen before, but I couldn't deny the fact that it was definitely going to be the first time that someone was going to think that I was worth being spent on.
My breath hitched as Ryan led me to a private dining room. The room was dim, and I didn't miss the candles that were placed on the table. The table cloth was red, and decorated in roses. The scent of the roses was in the air, making me nod in approval.
“Do you like it?” He asked, finally making me look over at him.
I nodded. “But this is the usual room. Tell me, how many people have you brought here?”
He gestured towards the table. “Just one pretty lady. Her name is Anna.”
I rolled my eyes, smiling. “Yeah, sure.”
He suddenly looked serious. “I only come here when I want to eat alone. Or when I need to think properly about things. Apart from that, I would rather eat downstairs. I only brought you here because I thought you would love the private moment.”
The amount of things that this man was getting right about me was slightly alarming, and I wasn't even willing to hide my surprise. “Did Daniel have a role to play in all the perfect answers that you're giving?” I asked, and he shook his head immediately.
“You can ask Daniel. I've barely spoken to him in days. I'm just giving the answers to what I've managed to notice ever since I met you.” He gestured towards one of the chairs. I gave him a small nod, as he helped me place my seat properly. He was being such a gentleman, I was trying so hard not to cry.
Ryan took his seat in front of me. I could feel his eyes on me as I glanced through the menu. I could barely focus on anything, but my eyes managed to catch the spaghetti Bolognese.
“This,” I said, placing my finger on it. Ryan smiled. He waved the waitress over, ordering two plates of spaghetti, and one of the most expensive wines on the menu.
I noticed the way the waitress paid attention to him, and the way that he spoke. He was definitely a handsome man. There was no denying that. But at the same time, allowing myself to feel anything for this man was more than dangerous. It was always the nice ones that did the worst.
“How has the business been going?” Ryan asked, and I immediately got excited.
“The launch went perfectly fine, except for the part when one of the journalists was asking questions about trying to take revenge on James. My ex.”
I held my breath, waiting for Ryan to tell me that he thought the same. “I'm hoping you gave her the answer that she deserved. I didn't see that part on the news though. And trust me, I've watched that news clip about a hundred times.”
I laughed. “I asked to see her privately. Just as expected, she wasn't even part of a media firm. She was definitely being sent to me. The amount of information that she has is… weird.”
“Do you want me to look into it?” He asked, giving me a lot of worry now.
“No,” I answered, pausing when the waitress placed our dishes in front of us, pouring the wine deliberately slow like she wanted to get all the information that she could.
“Are you sure you can handle it yourself?” Ryan asked, when the waitress finally walked away.
I nodded. “I've had things being handled for me ever since I became a Quinn. Besides, I don't think it's going to be much. Isabel was my only problem, and even she is on my side now. Plus, she has a new date.”
He nodded, chewing thoughtfully. “I'm glad. Especially since she has been all over me from the beginning. Maybe her visit to my house was her last for a while.”
I froze. “When did she visit?”
“Today,” he answered.
I allowed the taste of the spaghetti on my tongue, overpowering my thoughts knowing Isabel went to his house. It was none of my business. But then, she wouldn't go there if she had given up on anything that had to do with him, would she?
I shook my head slightly. Isabel had her way of doing things. She is my proper sister now. I would be broken if I thought she was thinking I was lying about everything as well.
Ryan and I talked about how hard it was for him, handling his company, and bringing his father's own under his wing as well. By the time we were done with dinner, I was slightly tipsy.
“Are you ready to go home now?” He asked, and I gave him a firm nod of my head.
Ryan helped me to the car. My fingers were entangled in his. I didn't even want to let go of him. His aftershave scent seemed to pull me closer. I leaned in, turning in the radio and humming along happily. That was the happiest that I had been in months.
Maybe Daniel wasn't wrong. Maybe I should have been letting myself go out more often.
“We're here,” Ryan said, finally stopping the car right in front of the driveway. He got over to my side as usual, helping me out. This time, I didn't leave his hand.
My eyes were fixed on his plump lips that seemed to call out for me.
His eyes were fixed on mine as well, and I could see him swallow. He pressed me against the hood of his car, with my face in his chest. Ryan lifted my face with his index fingers. There was a small smirk on his face.
“Can I kiss you?” He asked in the softest voice. I didn't even think twice before nodding.
