Chapter 7 Chapter 7. Directly Take Zoria to the Hospital
At that moment, Zoria did not know what meaning her survival held.
“Zoria, I will not let you die. You still haven’t repaid your debt to me. I will let you taste what it feels like to live a life worse than death.” Zephyr’s cold voice rang out.
Zoria revealed a smile more bitter than tears. A life worse than death? Wasn’t she already living one now?
“Zephyr, don’t forget you promised me that we would sever the bond after I finished donating the marrow.” Zoria’s voice was so faint it was almost inaudible, perhaps from exhaustion.
Zoria took a deep breath, her voice hoarse, “If time could turn back, I wish I had never loved you. We would never have mated.”
Zephyr sat gazing into the rearview mirror, his deep eyes fixed on Zoria. They had known each other for five years, had been mated for three. Zoria had gone from an innocent young girl to an Omega soon to become a mother.
The thought of their child about to be born made Zephyr’s heart tremble. He clenched his fists, the emotions on his face shifting rapidly.
Zoria met Zephyr for the first time on her eighteenth birthday. Keiran had organized a grand birthday party for Zoria. That morning, before the guests arrived, Zoria took the leash to walk her dog. Unexpectedly, the dog, sensing Zoria's momentary distraction, broke free from the leash and ran ahead. Fearing the dog might run into the guests, Zoria quickly chased after it. When she reached a bend in the path, she saw the dog collide with a male.
The dog seemed very fond of the male, continuously jumping on him and even rolling onto its back, offering its belly for him to pet. The male knelt down, gently stroking the dog's head.
Zoria gathered the dog in her arms. The male stood up, dusting off the dirt from his knee, then said, "It's alright. This dog was a gift I once gave to Keiran. I never expected that, after all this time, it would still recognize me."
His voice was deep, like the sound of a cello, soothing to the ears. Zoria looked up at the male before her, noticing he was tall with sharp features, fiery red hair, and steady, cold eyes.
It seemed that he had noticed Zoria's scrutiny, so after studying her for a moment, he smiled and turned to leave.
As she watched his figure disappear, Zoria felt a sense of loss. She tightened her grip on the dog and shouted, "Who are you?"
The male turned slightly and replied, "Zephyr Hawthorne."
Only when Zephyr's figure had vanished from her sight did Zoria snap back to reality, looking at the dog and muttering, "So, he was your previous owner?"
At eighteen, Zoria had fallen in love with Zephyr at first sight. Even in her dreams, she wished to be his mate. But little did she know, he had now become a nightmare she longed to escape.
Zoria felt like she had been asleep for a long time, having gone through a long dream. When she woke up, she found herself in a hospital.
The car door opened, and Zephyr quickly pulled Zoria out of the car. Zoria secretly took out her phone and sent her location to Evander. She gently stroked her belly, her palm releasing a thin layer of sweat: "Baby, don't be afraid, I won't let anything happen to you."
At the hospital, Faye had been taken to the operating room and was being prepared for surgery. When the doctor learned that Zephyr had arrived, he hurried over.
Zephyr frowned and asked, "How is Faye? Why did she suddenly faint and bleed?"
“Ms. Faye stopped her medication a month ago, so her condition suddenly flared up. She has already been taken into the operating room. Mr. Hawthorne, may I ask where the volunteer donor is?”
"I brought her here. Please take her directly into the operating room," Zephyr said, his voice cold, with no trace of sympathy.
Zoria's heart sank, her eyelashes trembling. She lifted her head to look at Zephyr standing beside her. Before she could read the emotion in his eyes, someone shoved her roughly into the operating room.
Lying on the operating table, Zoria looked up at the blinding white light from the ceiling. Her vision became blurry. Even though she had prepared herself mentally, at this moment, she was still so scared that tears welled up in her eyes.
When the soft tube was inserted into her body, Zoria slowly closed her eyes. At that moment, a sharp pain shot through her abdomen, a lingering ache like being cut by a knife, making her moan. But the surgeon didn't pay attention and continued extracting her bone marrow.
"It hurts... really hurts... Baby... I'm sorry... don't leave me..."
Tears streamed down Zoria's eyes, wetting her temples. She gripped her clothes tightly, and then her consciousness sank completely into the darkness.
Outside the operating room, the white light illuminated Zephyr’s face, making his expression even colder. As he looked at the flashing red light, a sense of unease rose within him, as if something important to him was about to disappear.
At that moment, the sound of hurried footsteps from behind broke Zephyr's thoughts. He turned around and saw Evander running toward him.
As soon as Evander saw Zephyr, his previously angry expression turned into one of fury. He rushed forward and demanded, “Where is Zoria?”
Zephyr looked at Everhart without showing any emotion, his face full of impatience.
“She’s inside.”
Evander looked at the operating room and assumed Zoria was inside.
Immediately, a surge of anger flared up inside him. “Zephyr, Zoria is carrying your child! Do you even have a heart?”
Zoria had always been careful to protect the baby. The proof was that she had gone to the hospital for pregnancy checkups numerous times. Previously, Evander had advised Zoria to have an abortion many times, but she refused. Now, unexpectedly, Zoria was being forced into surgery by Zephyr.
Because Kieran had been sentenced to life imprisonment, the Everhart family had essentially collapsed. Zoria now had nothing left except the baby growing inside her, yet now even this child was about to die. Thinking about how Zoria had fallen in love with such a cruel male like Zephyr, Evander felt it was incredibly unfair to her.
