Chapter 103

Chapter 103
Chapter 102
Adrian Valehart.
I had done everything possible—and everything impossible—to make sure nothing got out of control.
But I knew that was nothing more than an illusion.
Nothing involving Sofia Bliss and her wolf could ever be fully controlled.
Still, I tried.
The moment we stepped out of the car, I looked at her… and I saw what I’d feared since the beginning.
Her eyes.
Her expression.
Her wolf.
It was hungry for the blood of the guilty, salivating for their throats.
And holding it back—if it snapped—would be hard… no, impossible.
Her wolf knew the scent of every person in that place. It recognized their blood. It recognized the danger.
I could feel the pulse in her chest—heightened, alert, ready to attack.
Her eyes scanned the surroundings, she looked from side to side, searching... she seemed anxious.
I approached her, took a deep breath, I had to control this, her wolf.
And I had to remind her.
If I didn’t… everything could be ruined. My lips drew close to his ear, and I whispered.
''Don’t forget,'' I murmured quietly, only for her. ''No matter what happens, you stay by my side.''
She tilted her head slightly toward me. Her eyes still glowing.
''I know,'' she said. ''I remember.''
Good.
At least she remembered.
Because everything was about to turn into hell.
I kept looking at her, even in the chaos. I admit she looked so beautiful in that dress, it was surreal. However, I shook my head; it wasn't the time to think about that, not now. I controlled myself and looked ahead.
I extended my arm to her, Sofia intertwined her arms with mine, took a deep breath, and we continued on.
As soon as we crossed the door, the guards stared at us with a mix of surprise, confusion, and… fear.
No one expected us to show up.
Especially not with her.
Sofia held onto my arm as we walked. Not in a soft or needy way—
But like someone trying to stop herself from doing something.
Her hand squeezed my skin so hard that if I were human, she would’ve torn or injured my arm.
I could see exactly what she felt written all over her expression.
People looked at her as if they were seeing a wanted criminal walking among them.
Not entirely wrong.
Her name was still on the list.
I breathed in deeply, trying to keep my posture steady as I guided her down the hall.
Her heart was beating faster and faster… louder…
I could hear it clearly.
She scanned every face, every scent, and every breath around her.
She was searching for something—hunting.
And that, yes, worried me.
From afar, I saw the table reserved for me.
Cael and Cedric were already sitting there—with the posture of two idiots poorly disguised as serious men.
Sofia’s eyes widened, and she whispered:
''They’re also…?''
''Yes,'' I answered. ''They just don’t have a brain. But you already noticed that.''
She let out a tiny laugh.
A quick, almost involuntary laugh… but enough to ease the pressure inside me for one second.
We reached the table.
Cael spoke first—saying exactly what everyone else was already thinking.
''You two are drawing way more attention than you should.''
Cedric leaned back lazily in his chair and added, staring at her:
''And I have to admit… the awakening suits her… so, how are you feeling?''
Sofia kept looking around, as if she were trying to filter the entire world at once.
''I don’t understand everything yet,'' she said. ''I can’t… separate the sounds. Or the smells.''
Cael nodded.
''Normal for hybrids. The senses take a while to stabilize.''
Before I could change the subject, something caught my attention—a scent I recognized the moment I stepped inside.
The smell.
The presence of Elenna Valehart.
My mother.
I recognized it instantly.
What the hell was she doing here?
And when I turned, there she was—standing at a distance, completely composed, posture immaculate, eyes locked on me like a silent command.
Calling me.
Francesca stood right behind her, as always.
Rage ran up my spine like gasoline hitting a flame.
The kind of rage I had been fucking struggling to control for hours.
''She knows everything?'' Cael muttered, leaning toward me.
''She knows everything I know,'' I answered. ''And the rest… she’ll find out with us.''
I needed to go to Elenna.
I needed to know what the hell she wanted now—what kind of shit she was pulling this time.
I looked back at Sofia.
''I have to deal with something quickly… Will you be okay here?''
Before she could answer, Cedric lifted a hand.
''Relax. We’ll watch her.''
Sofia raised an eyebrow, clearly not trusting either of them.
I sighed.
''I’ll be quick.''
I started walking toward my mother, feeling my muscles tense.
The moment she saw me approaching, she turned around and headed toward the side corridor where the private meeting rooms were.
Perfect.
Whatever she wanted to discuss, it was better done far from the main hall—far from Sofia.
And if it was another one of her insane schemes, I swear—
It would be the last.
And I would make sure of that myself.
