Chapter 102

Chapter 102
Chapter 102
Sofia Bliss.

When I woke up, for a moment, I truly believed all of it had been a dream—like the one before, real and lucid.
I also thought maybe it was just another breakdown.
Or something outside reality collapsing inside my head.
But when I opened my eyes… I was still there.
In that same room as before.
In that house that wasn’t mine. Inside that world I never asked to be a part of.
And unfortunately, it was all too real to ignore.
I sat up slowly on the bed, my heart heavy. The memories came automatically:
The papers.
Adrian’s voice is telling me everything.
The truth.
And then… the image flashed in my mind—
My reflection, showing eyes that didn’t belong to me.
That wasn’t a nightmare or madness. It was real.
And the day of the meeting had come.
The day I would look into the eyes of those monsters who had turned my life into hell long before I was even born.
I took a deep breath and placed my feet on the floor. The room was quiet. The whole house was silent.
Adrian wasn’t there. He had spent the night out again, looking for Letícia, looking for my father.
A part of me—the human, stupid one—kept wondering why.
Did he actually like me?
Or was it something else?
Maybe just interest…?
But why the hell was he trying so hard?
I didn’t know what to think.
Honestly.
I stood up, still feeling heavy, and went to the bathroom.
When I looked into the mirror, I froze.
The face staring back was mine, but… different.
Like there was something behind my skin.
Like I wasn’t the only one inside my own body.
It was different—this sensation—I felt it clearly.
I took a deep breath, still staring at myself, thinking about everything that had happened.
I tried to fix my hair; I wanted to feel at least a little good about myself. Then I washed my face, dried it, brushed my teeth…
I exhaled slowly and relaxed my shoulders.
The house was almost silent until I heard a knock on the bedroom door.
I went to open it immediately.
It was that older maid from the day before. Anna, I think.
She gave me a timid, nervous smile and said that while I stayed there, she would take care of me.
I thanked them, trying to show a friendly smile.
I remembered how terrifying I must have looked before… and seeing that she was still trying to be kind to me made something twist inside my chest.
It made me uncomfortable, and somehow… grateful.
Because she was still treating me as if I were… someone.
Not a problem.
Not a monster waiting to explode.
She brought my breakfast.
It was very tasty, I thanked her and ate... everything was delicious, she left me eating and when I finished, I just stayed in the room, waiting for the hours to pass... and then, she came back again, bringing my lunch. She kept me company for a while and said if I needed anything, I just had to call her, I thanked her and started eating my lunch.
She spoke to me as if I weren’t dangerous.
And that… felt good.
It was the first affection I’d received from someone outside my family in days. Maybe weeks.
And I hadn’t realized how much I needed it until I felt it.
While I was eating, some boxes arrived—my things from Letícia’s apartment.
And with them… new clothes.
I knew Adrian had bought them.
I didn’t even need to ask.
I would never be able to afford any of that.
After eating, I went to see the new dresses.
It was beautiful, soft, expensive.
Something warmed inside me.
Why?
Why was he doing this?
I had no answer.
I stared at the dresses and touched the silk fabric. It felt smooth and pleasant on my fingers… and I actually smiled—just a small one, but a real one.
And then... I was left there alone in the room, and I tried to organize my things and the new dresses; I spent a good part of the day doing that.
When Adrian finally arrived, it was almost late afternoon. The sun slipped into the room, and the moon started to rise.
I had already taken my shower, I was getting ready, and I chose a beautiful dress for today.
Anna was helping me tie my hair when he walked in, so she left quickly, giving us space.
He looked ready—well dressed, firm posture, serious, prepared for the night ahead.
But I also saw the exhaustion.
He was extremely tired.
“Sofia,” he said, voice low, “are you sure about this?”
I didn’t even think.
“Yes.” I nodded. I meant it.
He studied me as if he needed absolute certainty.
Our eyes met, and I felt it—that strange, deep, too-warm connection.
He looked like he wanted to say something.
Something he had forgotten… or maybe something random…
But he stayed quiet.
Just stared at me thoughtfully while I finished getting ready.
I was wearing a dark silk dress—soft against my skin, flowing beautifully. It felt good. The hairstyle was pretty. It was a new version of me.
When I approached the mirror and looked one last time… I saw how much I looked like my mother.
The face, the eyes…
The pain hit me hard.
That unbearable ache of wanting to hug her again, of telling her I was scared, that I didn’t want life to be like this.
But she wasn’t there.
I wanted to cry—God, how I wanted to—but crying wouldn’t help.
All I had now, besides memories and photos, was myself.
Someone had ripped her away from me.
And now, I wanted to see that person standing right in front of me.
And they would pay… bitterly… for everything.
I turned and walked past Adrian toward the door.
“Let’s go,” I said. “I don’t want to be late.”
He followed behind me, silent, as if afraid to stop me or tell me to wait.
Outside, in the mansion’s parking area, three cars were waiting.
Adrian’s.
And two others filled with security.
But they weren’t normal security—nothing like the ones he usually used.
These were… different.
Men with tattoos on their necks and hands.
Guns openly visible.
Eyes of people who would do anything if Adrian gave the order.
Where did Adrian know people like that from?
I didn’t ask.
I didn’t want another answer that would break my mind even more.
I just got into the car.
Adjusted the seatbelt, stared out the window, and watched the world outside.
The drive to the center of the city was silent.
I just observed the streets, the trees, people living normal lives… wondering if they had any idea this world existed.
About the wolves… the rules… the council.
After a few minutes, we stopped in front of a massive house.
It looked old—like something out of a movie.
The gate opened by itself. Dozens of vehicles were parked inside.
And as soon as Adrian’s car stopped… I felt it.
The smell.
Faint, distant… but unmistakable.
The same scent from the clinic.
The one in my father's room.
My whole body froze.
And then burned.
Because I knew.
I knew that person was inside.
