They had been watching series, enjoying the flow of the movie as well as chatting and laughing, while I had lost focus on what was
going on in the series and just sat still, feeling like I was about to explode from the discomforting pain in my body and bones. "This is the quality time I need from you everyday. I feel so great right now." She commented
"Me too." He grinned and kisses her forehead. They maintained silence for a while again and resumed watching the
movie. I was drenched in boredom and frustration, patiently waiting for Keegan to return.
"Mason," she called and he hummed a response. "Please don't keep anything from me, okay?"
Panic immediately set in his eyes and I bet she didn't notice it because she wasn't staring at him. "We can go there for our second honeymoon." He was referring to the beautiful waterfall background of the scene currently on the screen.
"Really? I thought about it too!" she grinned and I noticed his tensed muscles relax in relief.
Why did he suddenly just change the topic without her noticing? What was he hiding from her?
I couldn't play detective again because I felt really strange. The strange throbbing I was experiencing in my lower abdomen worsened and my head hurt like crazy.
"I'll take my leave now." I announced and rose to my feet.
They both glanced at me and nodded, quickly turning their attention to the screen and laughed at what had just been said.
What the heck is this feeling? My entire body felt like it was burning and my tummy was beginning to hurt.
I quickly walked upstairs then back to the bedroom. I felt like I was on fire, my head, heart and abdomen were throbbing so much.
Every part of my body from deep in my bones was in pain and getting heated.
"What the heck is this feeling? I feel crazy?" I panted, searching around for what could serve as a relief but there was nothing and that heightened my frustration.
The pain was now so unbearable so I began to scream, scratching and squeezing different parts of my body to reduce the horror but nothing was working.
I didn't stop screaming and gripped my hair really tight, going breathless, it felt like I was in a volcano and was being smashed by a large truck.
After a while, I heard thumping sounds then Crystal threw the door open.
"Are you okay? Oh no, definitely not." she ran to me and managed to put me to sit while I groaned.
"What the hell is wrong with me? My body is burning so much and I feel like I've gone mad, I'm in pain." I cried.
"Let me run a quick check on you." She touched a few parts of my body, like a manual test on me then stood back to say, "you're in heat, Jane."
"What the hell?!"
"It's that time of the year for female werewolves. You're in heat, and judging from this, you seem to be in your peak days."
"How can I get rid of it? I feel so crazy!" I cried.
"The only way it can be gotten rid of is by contact with so mate, so apparently Keegan is the only one that can get rid of this torturous pain and feeling."
"How? Please let me know what he can do." I begged.
"Well... just the normal things mates do and how shrugged. works." she shrugged
"But this is so stupid. I didn't know being in heat was supposed to make me feel hot, I'm literally on fire."
"It's not the same for all female werewolves, but I assume you're one of those with an extremely crazy body reaction to being in heat. Weren't you experiencing a few signs before today?"
"I don't know..." I suddenly remembered that I had been feeling really strange. "Yes, I've been."
"You ought to have prepared far ahead, right from the first day you experienced the signs. Is this your first year?" She asked as she turned on the Air conditioner.
"Y-yes." I was still very sweaty despite the AC.
"Oh, that explains why. Don't worry, you'll be fine soon."
"Fine?! I can never be fine with this pain. I feel like I'm about to burn into flames. Is there no drug for it?"
"No, just your mate."
"Please help me." I cried. "Call Keegan."
"I've tried mind-linking him but I don't know why I'm not able to link up with him."
"Just use the phone," tears had started rolling down my face and I pulled a pillow close to me, wrapping my arms and legs around it as I laid on the bed, hoping it was going to relieve me but still nothing.
She walked over to a telephone on the nightstand and dialed Keegan's phone while I couldn't stop crying. My entire body hurt like crazy.
"Do you need anything?" His response was grouchy.
"Yes please. Jane is experiencing excruciating pain."
"What's wrong? Is she fine?" Panic rang in his voice.
"No, she's not. You'll have to head down here, she's in her heat period."
"Heat, Oh..." he trailed off.
"And she's one of those female werewolves that experience intense pains with it."
"Aren't there other measures to help her out? I don't think I'd be able to come. Just help her out with other methods and keep me updated."
"But Alpha, she-" he hung up on her before she could complete her sentence.
We both had our mouths agape in shock.
"What is wrong with that man?!" I cried and sat up straight, pulling my legs to my chest but it only made me feel hotter. My body was already drenched in sweat despite the air conditioner and my feet and hands felt like needles were being stabbed into them non-stop.. My stomach felt like it was being stabbed as well and my vulva was literally crying for help. "What do I do now? I'm burning. There has to be something." I was biting on my lower lip really hard to try to reduce the pain, still nothing.
"I already called for Mason's assistance. Hang on." her eyebrows were curled up in worry.
Main headed into the room after a few minutes with a few things inside the plastic bag he was holding and for some reason, I could perceive his scent as he walked in and he suddenly just looked really attractive and very sexy.
"Add it to the bath." She said, glancing at me suspiciously.
I tried to avoid the feeling and strange way I was observing Mason but it wasn't getting out of my head.
He left for the bathroom and returned. "Done."
"Okay, please leave now before Jane hops on you." She joked and he quickly took his leave.
I felt like calling him back to actually hop on him. "What the heck is this annoying feeling?"
"Don't worry, it's normal. I can't blame you for feeling attracted to him. He's a male and you know our wolf part of us possess characteristics that aren't so human-like, so it's normal that you feel attracted to my husband while you're in heat and away from your mate. She said and grabbed my hand.
"If you want to know a secret, when I was in my first heat period, I was attracted to a male friend of mine and when my best friend back then was in her first heat period, she was attracted to her brother. Disgusting, I know, but we can't control it." She explained and that just made me feel much better.
"That's good to know, but I still feel like I'm on fire despite the air conditioner." I pursed my lip.
She sighed then held me to my feet and led me to the bathroom. As she touched me, my skin burned even more and it made me feel wild, like a strong urge to push her away, but I was trying to keep my sanity.
I immersed myself in the bathtub and felt really calm from the coldness of the water.
"Did it actually work?" she celebrated. "That's so great. I only wanted to test it out."
As she was talking, the water immediately felt lukewarm and my body resumed burning with throbbing pains that made me burst into tears again.
"Shit, I spoke too soon. Don't worry, it'll be fine." She patted me and that burned even more.
"Get the fuck away from me!" I didn't know why I suddenly barked at her but it felt like something else was controlling me and her presence was disturbing all of a sudden. "I'm sorry " I apologized, groaning from the pain.
"I understand that it's one of the emotional imbalances that comes with it, so it's fine. I'll give you some breathing space and will come to check up on you constantly while still trying to reach out to Alpha." She said and took her leave.
My body was feeling even more crazy and when I touched the water, I realized it was still so cold but it didn't ease my burning.
"How are you now?" Crystal walked into the bathroom. I had been sitting in here for hours now and she had to give me a few painkillers, yet nothing.
"My symptoms are crazier. Nothing is working. I hate Keegan so fucking much. How dare he do this to me?"
"I've tried reaching out to him but he still insists that you'll be calm."
I groaned. 'Where the hell are you, you motherfucking bitch?' I forcefully mind linked him.
'Goodness, I know you must be feeling bad-"
'Bad? I feel terrible!'
'I know and I really apologize, but sweetheart, don't worry, you'll be fine.' His tone was very sad and guilt-filled.
"Just head over here!' I demanded.
'I can't be with you. If I do, you might be forced to do something you might later regret.'
'I can't take this.' I was growling, it felt like a greater force had taken over me and my vulva was throbbing so much.
'Just be calm. It'll pass'
"How long will it last?" I asked Crystal.
"Five to ten days."
"Five to ten days?!" I screamed.
"Yes, but if your mate is with you, it can be reduced."
'No, Keegan I'd die before five to ten days. Head here now.
"Sorry, but no. I'm so sorry.' He ended the link.
"Since the water isn't helping, you can try heading to bed." She left and returned with a nightdress.
I walked out of the water and got rid of my clothes, crying so much as every part of me hurt. After drying my body, I wore the night dress.
"Every thing still burns and I hate Keegan so fucking much. How can he let me be in so much pain?" I was still crying.
"It'll be fine."
She held me to lead me back. Mason was in the bedroom, just leaning against the door frame and glancing at me with pity.
I frowned from her burning touch and laid down while she covered me with a light blanket.
"Just calm down and try to be less aggressive." She tried to sound encouraging. "I know it's really hard, but... you can try."
"Try?" Mason huffed. "You almost killed me for not being with you for even a second."
"Shut up." She glared a him. "Just sit still. I'll be close by."
My head was very heavy, I felt like my stomach had tied into knots and every part of my body was throbbing, especially my vulva, with a burning desire to be touched by Keegan.
