Chapter 83 Chapter 83

Chapter 83 Chapter 83
I was extremely scared but when I raised my head and stopped screaming, I realized it was just a young and very beautiful child, her straight ash brown hair was dangling against my face as she covered my mouth with her hands.
"What the heck?" I removed her hands from my mouth.
"I'm so sorry." She rose to her feet and extended her small hand to me.
Though I didn't need it, I still held her hand to support myself to my feet, frowning as I cleared off dust from my dress. "Who are you? What are you doing here all alone? And most importantly, why did you have to pull me so hard to make me fall?" I complained.
"I'm really sorry. Please forgive me. I didn't want you to shout and draw attention to me." Her emerald eyes were glassy with tears as she held onto the strap of the backpack behind her really tight.
"Who are you?" I asked again, this time with all seriousness.
"I'm Rylee. Please don't kill me. I just need somewhere to stay from my pack. My parents died and my old pack want to destroy my life and make me work so much because I'm a slave."
"A slave?"
"Yes, I'm an omega in my pack. My parents are dead now so my pack members are putting too much problems on me." Her eyes became more glass. "Can I just stay here? Even if it's just for a while. I won't bother anyone. I'll live in the basement if you want me to, I just want to be as far away from my pack as possible, somewhere they'll never find me"
She reminded me of me so much. I was also just a young orphaned pup that had just walked right into this pack helplessly, hoping for a better life.
"How old are you?" I asked.
"I'm just six years old. Please, I don't want to go back there. I managed to run away from them. Those people are bad people. I've been going around different places for almost two days now till I found this place and I can sense that it's a pack ground as well. Please, pretty please, save me." she joined her palms together with tears rolling down her face.
She was so much like me. The only mistake she made was walking into the Dark Stone pack. Her life was going to be a mess as well.
I wanted to tell her to turn back and go to another pack because being an omega here was going to be equally terrible, but I stopped to think that what if the other packs didn't accommodate her and she ended up being a rogue or a slave to another terrible or she ended up being assaulted and it affected her sanity and ruined her while life? I'd feel terrible for the rest of my life knowing that I couldn't be of help when I could've done something rather than let her go.
Her stomach grumbled really loudly and she held it, wincing in pain. "When was the last time you ate?" I wondered, stepping closer to her. "I think," she extended three of her fingers to me, "three days ago."
"Three days?!" I exclaimed. "How are you possibly still alive? You're just a child."
"I've been drinking a lot of water everyday and I'm used to not eating back at my pack." That explained why she was so thin.
"Fine, let's go." I sighed and grabbed her hand and started walking away. Different thoughts ran into my head, I was still pondering on what to do. What if she wasn't supposed to be trusted and I was just bringing doom upon me? What if I was making a stupid decision by bringing her here?
Because I wasn't certain of what I was going to do with her yet, I got in through the backdoor to lead her inside and snuck into the kitchen then pulled her up to sit on the counter.
"Just sit still and be very quiet while I make you a meal." I said and she nodded with a grateful smile.
I quickly made a meal for her and served it on a plate.
She placed it on her lap and quickly munched on it with her bare hands. After she ate her meal, I had to serve extra for her and she ate it all at once. Then I decided to pour orange juice into a cut for her which she also gulped at once before finalizing it with a glass of water.
"Thank you so much! That was the best meal of my life." Her smile captured my heart with so much joy. It was the most beautiful facial expression I had ever seen anyone make and it made her emerald eyes glow so much.
"I'm glad you liked it." I returned the smile.
"Yes. I don't think...." She trailed off and was staring at something above us. "Gamma Mason, Beta Scarlett..." I noticed she was reading their names from the cupboards that contained items that specifically belonged to the name tag. "... Alpha Keegan?!" she gasped and fear ignited in her eyes again as she began to tremble."
What pack is this?"
"Dark Stone pack, why!" I asked and she gasped again, covering her mouth dramatically.
"Do you plan on killing me?" She began to tremble and was chewing on her fingernails so fast.
"What do you mean? Are you sure you're okay?"
"I'm actually in Alpha Keegan's dark Stone pack?!" she touched the counter and the wall and her chest was rising and falling faster than normal, her body became very sweaty in an instant.
"Rylee, please stay calm. What is wrong with you?"
"I've heard of how terrible Alpha Keegan is and this pack. This pack might be way worse than my pack. I can't be here." She tried to hop off the counter but was too short. "Please put me down!" she cried then her eyes widened all of a sudden. "Was my food poisoned? Did you put something in it that'll make me be stuck here?"
"Child, don't be dramatic."
"I'm not being dramatic. I've heard a lot about this pack and everyone here is very terrible."
"I don't know whatever you've heard about us, but I can assure you that I'm only trying to help you out, I'm being good to you because I can relate with your situation. I assure you that I'll make sure to protect you. No one's killing you in this pack."
"What of Alpha Keegan? Please don't make him see me." She held her hands together. "If you know I'll have to see him or you'll tell him about me, please let me go now. I'd rather die from hunger than die in the hands of the man I hate the most."
"Hate the most?" Seriously? Who was teaching children these things? "Just be calm. Don't worry, you're in safe hands."
"You won't tell him about me?"
"Well... I mean, I'll try my best to."
"Thank you! I can even stay in the basement if it means I won't ever have to meet him."

"Good morning Luna." Mason greeted me as he approached me on the couch with a clipboard in his hand.
"Good morning." I chuckled at the title.
"Please let's head upstairs while I show you around your new spaces and explain your new role." He said with a small smile. "Oh, okay." I rose to my feet and we started heading up the stairs.
"So, this clipboard contains most of the roles." He passed the clipboard to me. "I'll explain a few things about it anyway. But firstly, I'd like to congratulate you on being the first official Luna of
Dark Stone since Mrs. Kate was Luna by title and not from the mate bond."
"Wow, I didn't think about that." It made me feel even more special to know I was the first real Luna here.
We finally stopped beside Keegan's office then he opened the door to the room beside his office.
"This is your new office. It's right beside the Alpha's because, of course, you're his Luna." He shrugged. "You'll have a lot to deal with; you'll have to attend to the basic needs of the pack and also be in charge of the children at the orphanages and their well-being. You have to ensure the pack is safe and be of great emotional support to people when needed. One of your main roles will include embracing the Alpha and putting him to his right state of mind whenever he runs out of control or becomes angry and violent."
"Understood." I was nodding while taking my time to appreciate how beautiful the room was and very neatly arranged, I loved the place. "Okay, I'll take you to your room now. But before then, Mae just mind linked me to let you know about her graduation and its preparation; she said it's coming up soon, blah blah blah, just speak to her about it later."
"Okay," I chuckled.
As we were about to head out, I bumped into Kate. Of course, her frown was still very much present on her annoying face.
"What is your problem?" she frowned.
"It was accidental." I apologized.
"Of course, it was." She scoffed and glanced into the room. "Luna's office?" she chortled again. "How can you possibly be capable of being a good Luna if you're this clumsy and foolish? You'll make things in the pack worse as a luna."
My face burned with a frown, something I'd normally never do. "It's not nice to jump into conclusion about someone's capability without giving the person a chance to prove herself worthy of the role yet."
"So now you have the audacity to talk back to me? Because you think you've suddenly become luna?" she shook her head. "Keegan didn't discuss with me about asking you to be his mate and neither did I agree to let go of the title, so I will remain Luna and your stupid low- ass self should sit back and not dare to act feisty around me. You're nothing but a useless omega that you'll forever be.
"I'm not ready to leave the position to a mutt and won't let you ruin what I've built for so many years. I still have goals to meet up with, so don't cross any lines that'll piss me off and hate you even more."
