Chapter 52 Chapter 52
The tall woman walked up to me and my eyes were still widened because she looked way too familiar. She had beige blonde hair, crustacean eyes and was surprisingly very beautiful.
For some reason, I had thought the person in the cloak would be a man, so I was in awe to know it was a woman.
"What? Do you remember me?" Her voice was like an angel's voice, very soothing to my ears.
I shook my head; she had kidnapped me, her innocent looks weren't going to deceive me. "Why am I here? I asked who you are?" I frowned this time.
She approached me, the sole of her boots clinking against the floor as she shoved her hands in her pants pocket, glancing at the door.
It felt very strange and I wondered what the hell was going on. After a while, three men strolled in with a table that had four tires, rolling it in my direction. The smell of food from the table was glorious and made my stomach scrunch, calling my attention to my hunger.
"You haven't eaten for over a day now, have something to eat." She said and the men opened the tray, revealing a variety of meals to select from.
As much as my stomach begged me to accept it, I shook my head with a frown. "Who are you? Why am I here, tied up to a chair? And most importantly, I'm not accepting any food you give to me."
"Eat up, you're too weak to withstand hunger, you'll die. Don't worry, we didn't poison the food. We mean no harm." She pulled out a chair and sat in front of me.
"I don't want anything. I just want to go home." I glanced at the men; they were very hefty with stern faces and dangerous tattoos ran all over their bodies. They looked like they could beat me up and kill me in nothing more than a second, making my heart race again. "I need to return to Alpha Keegan. He wouldn't spare you if he finds out that you have me tied to a chair like this." I threatened. "Alpha Keegan!" I yelled his name again, hoping he was going to be around searching for me and probably hear me.
"Don't be so stupid. There's no way Keegan is coming here." She was right. Guess who forgot she wasn't in a damn movie where the hero was going to run to save the charming princess in a minute? "I really can't believe you've fallen for Keegan. Don't you have any brain in your head?" she shook her head.
"What do you mean?" my eyebrows furrowed together. "Who are you? At least let me know that and also why I'm here."
She maintained silence while my gaze was pinned on her. I was still trying to remember where I had seen her. She looked way too familiar for me to not remember her at all, her face felt like it was a portrait in my room I'd see whenever I woke up first in every morning, that's how familiar she looked, but still I had nothing.
"Don't you have any memory of me at all?" She held my hand. I rolled my shoulders to get rid of her grip on me. "Think really hard. You'll know me." She leaned in closer.
"I have no idea who you-" I was cut off by a flashback and remembered that she was the woman I had seen at the pack prison when I had first been chained in the pack dungeon. "Oh, you, you were- I definitely knew I wasn't crazy and had seen someone that day!"
"Now you at least remember something." She smiled, her smile was the most enchanting facial expression I had ever seen. "That's great."
"Why am I here?" I asked her again, still not deriving the sense in anything that was going on.
"You're here because we have a big secret to tell you and we think it's high time we let you know to avoid creating more problems for either of us.
"We've been watching you closely and it's starting to seem like you're developing feelings for your Alpha. From the lake, to the kiss at the party, to your strange little moment in the room, to how much you blush when you think about him, we know everything..."
My entire body became cold and numb. "So you've been watching me all the time?" I asked and began to tremble again.
"Yes. Sometimes, when you think there's no one around, there's always someone watching." This made no sense. How could someone be watching me and I hadn't noticed? "We've had a close eye on you all through your life. We know how terribly you're treated in your pack, how you were punished for rejecting your Alpha, how you left for Night Shadow pack and became friends with Chloe, how you are secretly friends with the Beta of your pack, how you met new friends at the Andersons wedding anniversary, how you got to Dark Stone pack and most importantly, the fact that you think you're an orphan when your parents are still very much alive."
I gazed at her, at this point, unable to understand anything again. How the hell did she have a report of my life? "What do you mean?"
"Jane darling, please think clearly. Don't you have any idea of anything at all? How do you think you suddenly went to Dark Stone pack at ten years old? I mean, you were ten. Have you ever stopped to think of what your life was before then, who your parents were? You ought to still have a few memory of what happened before then." As she spoke, it dawned on me that she was right, I had no memory of my life before trespassing Dark Stone pack and becoming one of them. "How could you just walk right into the dangerous pack abs be tested and tagged as weak as useless? Why weren't your parents previous omegas who died in the pack and made you take over as the omega? I can't believe you've never stopped to wonder these things." She clicked her tongue, shaking her head.
It began to sink into my head as I traveled into the depths of my thoughts, trying to remember anything at all. "I have no memory of anything. What do you know? Who are you?"
She gestured to one of the men who left then came back with a box, dropping it on the woman's lap.
I watched her closely as she slipped out two photographs from the box and passed them to me." You should at least remember these."
I glanced at the photographs and they were the exact pictures that someone had given to me back when I was strolling in pack town. "Alpha Keegan confirmed that this is me."
"He did? Girl, you're so unthoughtful. Did you stop to wonder how he had a picture of you as a baby when you only walked right into the pack as a full grown adolescent with no life history." She leaned forward again, retrieving the photos from me and dropped the box. "Jane sweetheart, I expected you to be smarter than this." She extended her hand to one of the men and without words, he placed a cigarette between her fingers while another man lighted it.
"What are you insinuating?"
"Jane sweetheart," Okay, now that sounded annoying, "those people in the photo are your parents. You were one happy and strong child with so much power and a bright future. Your parents were also strong, strong enough to have produced the next ruler, not some ordinary..." she trailed off, "omega, sorry to say." she stuck the cigarette to her mouth and plucked it out, exhaling the smoke to my face.
I coughed, turning my face away. "What do you mean? And you still haven't answered the question of who you are."
"I'm your mother's sister, your Aunt."
I stared at her, blinking at shorter intervals completely puzzled. Where was this coming from?" Excuse you?"
"Yes. These are photos of you and me." She gesticulated her thumb to one of the men and he slipped out two photos from the boxes, sliding them to my lap.
The woman was in the photo, she looked a bit younger and was hugging me really tight, planting a kiss on my forehead. In this image, I looked more like me but was still a bit chunky and more beautiful. The other photograph was of me with her.
She waved a hand and the man untied me, placing a stack of old photographs on my lap. I picked them up to check them out, still unable to connect the dots here. The photos of me and her as well, there were photos of us with other people sometimes, but most of them were with me and her while in some of the photos, my hair was a darker shade of blonde. In one of the photos, I had a backpack on and was in a school uniform.
"Why didn't I have memory of these at all?" I wondered, drawing my eyes in askance. It felt like I had been tossed in a desert of confusion and couldn't find my way out.
"That's because you were in Dark Stone. Please Jane," she held my cold hands really tight, "you have to believe us to save yourself. We were all a very happy family in the small town we controlled till Keegan and his mother came to destroy everything. They destroyed your parents' happiness, they ruined land and gained dominance over it, crushing all our years of hard work. You were a very strong child and our was sent to their pack to exert your revenge but we have no idea what they did to you and you completely forgot us and your strength was destroyed. However, we still trust that you'll receive your glory again."
I was very confused. In fact, confusion was an understatement to the state I was in. "What.... Nothing makes any sense..." I stared around, trying to place the words in a common sense but they didn't fit to sound sensible. "How wouldn't I remember anything? How can you say I was once a strong person?"
"Yes, you were very strong. You were destined to be gifted with a very strong wolf and we believed in you to fight for our right and gain what's rightfully ours back, but the tables turned on us and we lost our child for a really long time. We've all come together again and we'd take what's ours, we've come together to help you get back to who you were destined to be and regain your senses. You can't be committed to such a pack after all they've done for you and you shouldn't make the mistake of falling for that bastard, Keegan." She frowned at the mention of his name.
"How can I be certain this isn't fake and out of your hatred for my pack and its members?"
"Are you being serious right now?" one of the men finally spoke with his face scrunched up at me.
"Of course we definitely hate them and you should room; they destroyed you and our town. We were all very happy and felt like family in our town but because of their greed for power, they destroyed it. Here," she flipped through the photos and handed over one to me. It was a photo of me and her with another child that looked exactly like me but had a darker shade of blonde hair. There were two cakes on the table with a candle of the number '7' on each of the cakes. Different people were in the background and everyone in the photo was laughing as my hand was buried in the cake and cake splutters were on the dress of the child that looked like me.
"Wh-"
"This was the last birthday you spent with your twin sister." "What the heck? Twin sister?" I frowned, snorting.
"Yes, you had an identical twin sister, her nar was Jess. You both celebrated your seventh birthday together and that was the last day you saw each other because that night, Keegan killed Jess." "I don't believe you." I Shook my head, my heart began to throb heavier than normal. "No, that's not possible."
"I don't expect you to believe me but I really need you to believe me. Please try to remember something. At least remember me. We were very close. I was your favorite person and that always made your parents very jealous," she said with a mirthless laugh," please, just try to remember anything at all."
I shut my eyes really tight as she continued pleading for me to remember, it seemed like there was something locked somewhere in my brain. I tried my best to put pressure on trying to get the thoughts out of where it was locked in my brain, but the memory wasn't coming back.
