Chapter 39 Chapter 39
~ JANE ~
A bright light shone on my face, bright enough to pierce through my eyelids and literally feel like it was burning my eyes.
I rolled around, hugging the soft blanket to my chest. It felt very relaxing and most importantly, I was way too comfortable which was very strange.
My eyes snapped open, scanning around like a lost puppy. I was in Alpha Keegan's room, on his bed, again— that explained the out of the world comfort, but why? I didn't even remember going to bed last night.
With a yawn, I rolled off the bed and sneaked into Alpha Keegan's bathroom. It was way bigger than I had imagined, definitely bigger than my bedroom; the gold-theme of the bathroom made its luxury glisten, the bathtub had a classy glass slide, the toilet bowl looked way too exorbitant and neat, like something I could lick and still remain healthy, that was crazy, I know.
I quickly washed my mouth and slipped in to take a shower, the fastest shower I had ever taken, before quickly slipping back to my dress and opened the door to run away.
Alpha Keegan's figure was directly in front of me, like he was about to open the bathroom door.
"I'm so sorry, Alpha, I promise it was a mistake. I'll never use your bathroom ever again in my life!" I said in one breath, widening my eyes in panic.
His expression was blank as he stared at me from head to toe like I was some kind of alien or a ghost.
"Uh... Alpha..." I forced a smile, trying to find an escape from his presence but there was no space beside him that was wide enough for me to squeeze myself to pass.
"When did you wake up?" he finally spoke, grabbing my shoulders and tilting me to the sides to inspect my body. "I'm so glad you're finally awake." He let out a sigh of relief and took me aback by pulling me into a hug, burying his head in my neck.
My hands were lifted a bit with my eyes widened, wondering what the hell was going on.
"Alpha...what's happening?" my heart was starting to pound faster than normal, this made no sense. How could he be willingly hugging me?
He pulled away from me and cleared his throat, " nothing... nothing... how did you go unconscious yesterday? Do you know how we were all so worried about you?"
"Unconscious?" I squinted my eyes at me and my cluelessness brought a frown to his face.
"You have no memory of your arm being sliced, and somehow going unconscious in the garden." He stared down at me with a 'are you kidding me' face.
I glanced at my arm that now had a plaster on it and immediately had a flashback to how I had headed to the library and someone had grabbed my arm. "I remember... I wanted to grab a book from the library when someone held my hand from the other side of the shelf. No one heard me even with my loud screaming then I felt a sharp pain on my arm and it felt like something hit my head from behind. After that, I experienced total blackout and have no memory of what happened afterwards."
"Who grabbed your arm?"
"I have no idea..." I trailed off, trying to remember if
I had seen the person's face but there was nothing." The person's arm was covered with a fur-like cloth."
"This is way serious. You need to be more safe. I'll have to ensure the security is improved. How can anyone dare to come into the pack house and harm. you? I hope it isn't..." he trailed off and something like fear flashed in his amber eyes. "Ensure you don't leave the pack house at all and try your best to stay close enough to me so I'd be alerted if you're in danger, okay?" He instructed in a low voice, his forehead was creased to express his confusion.
"Yes Alpha."
"Don't do anything or leave anywhere without my permission. I have to host a meeting. Just stay as safe as you possibly can." He said and took his leave.
I blinked and blinked again, still trying to understand what was going on. How could the pack be in danger and I was the main target? I was nothing but a useless omega here, why'd anyone care about my life?
A text popped up on my phone screen. I had expected it to be from Chloe again. My phone had been filled with multiple texts and missed calls from Chloe; she had been really expectant of my call and had become worried. Turned out it was a text from Casper.
CASPER: <
<
ME: <
> I texted back.
CASPER: <
>
ME: <
>
CASPER: << Great!>> He texted back and there was nothing else.
I contemplated on whether or not to ask him for the next thing or anything else, but I refrained from doing so, glancing at my phone with full focus, hoping he was going to send something else. Someone knocked on the door. I wondered who could be knocking if it wasn't Alpha but permitted the person to walk in. A grumpy-looking petite woman with short brown hair and round brown eyes walked in with a tray in her hands that had a mug and plate.
She walked over to me, dropping the tray on the bedside table.
"Here. Alpha ordered me to serve you and ensure you don't leave. Eat up." She gruffed and rolled her eyes. " I can't believe I'm doing this for a stupid omega." She scoffed, not bothering to speak less louder, she could've at least muttered that.
Why did Alpha Keegan ask someone to serve me? That was extremely strange.
"Thank you." I said to her and when I was about to drop my phone to eat, it chimed, indicating that there was a new message.
A grin spread my lips apart as I picked it up and opened the message from Casper. He had texted me the address. It was a nice restaurant not quite far from the pack house. I didn't realize my cheeks were burning from a blush until I caught the awful stare from the petite lady.
My smile dropped when I realized that there was no way Alpha Keegan was going to let me leave and now this woman wasn't leaving my presence. I also couldn't say I had a date; it was against the pack rule for an omega to go on a date. What the heck was this nonsense? I needed to go on this date.
