Chapter 27 Chapter 27

Chapter 27 Chapter 27
"What the heck is this? Who are you?" I shouted at him.
"Why on Earth are you shouting?" Mrs. Bea grumbled as she walked into my room.
"Mrs. Bea." I turned to her, smiling in relief that she was here. "This person-" I turned back, but the person was no longer standing in front of me. "What? How?" I creased my forehead. "Someone was here, standing right in front of me. How is that-"
"Have you finally lost your mind?"
"What's going on here?" Alpha Keegan asked as he walked into my room.
"She claims that someone was standing in front of her." Mrs. Bea said, rolling her eyes to made me sound stupid.
"What do you mean?" He stood in front of me, staring between me and Mrs. Bea.
"Someone in a black hoodie was here. The person followed me all the way from the store. When I got to my room, I suddenly saw the person here again."
Mrs. Bea burst into laughter. "I knew something was wrong with your head when I saw you sitting under the counter. How can anyone possibly be in the pack house without the guards noticing? There's full security here. Is this a joke?"
"I'm not joking. The man gave me this paper." I passed the paper to Alpha Keegan. He stared at it like he was scrutinizing the words written on it.
"I have no idea who the person is. Why'd the person be glad to see me again? There was also someone in a cloak that had come to me when I was in the pack prison." I just remembered that. Mrs. Bea threw her head back to laugh again, holding her stomach for support. "So you mean someone was in the pack prison that wasn't a guard?" She asked, holding back her laughter.
"Yes, and the person was gone when the guard arrived." Like it was comedy, she laughed again. "I'm not kidding. Check the paper out." I frowned.
"This is just a grocery list you wrote." Alpha Keegan frowned at me.
"What?" I grabbed the paper from him and to my surprise, it was the grocery list I had written. I searched around if the paper might've fallen without my notice, but nothing was around me. "This makes no sense. There was something else on this paper. Not my handwriting. The handwriting was very terrible; the person mentioned my name and said it's good to see me again."
Mrs. Bea laughed again and Alpha Keegan's blank expression made me feel like I was crazy.
"The mental health specialist will be arriving soon. Be prepared."
"Do you think I'm crazy?" I frowned, pursing my lips at him with clenched fists.
"No. The incident with Liam only needs special attention, according to Doctor Crystal. The specialist will ensure that Liam's action didn't cause any adverse effect on your mental health." He explained then took his leave.
"Girl, you're so stupid." Mrs. Bea waved a hand over her face as she continued laughing her way out of my room.
"Was I imagining it? No way!" Something was definitely wrong.

The mental health specialist had gone to check up on the omega. After his session, he confirmed that she was okay. However, I doubted that. The issue with her claiming that someone was following her had confirmed that she wasn't fine. It made me feel like punching that bastard called Liam for causing this to her.
I sank in the chair of the pack office, running my hands over my face with a sigh. There's so much work to do. Releasing the omega from her punishment made me feel a strange type of gladness. Accompanied by that gladness, I was puzzled. The omega was still everything on my mind. She was no longer being punished in prison, yet I was still bothered about her.
Drex and I felt like speaking to her and hearing her voice that sounded somewhat sweet to my hearing. I contemplated on what to do to solve my bewilderment till I was forced to call for the omega to bring coffee to me again.
After five minutes, she walked into the office with a mug of coffee on the tray. A frown was stuck on her face as she lowered the tray to the table. She had been acting differently around me lately. Though she had always lowered her head when speaking to me or serving me, her face was either always filled with respect or she was trembling in fear, but now, the only thing she was doing was frowning at me.
She dropped the tray on the table and was taking her leave. I found myself holding her by her wrist to stop her from leaving. What the heck was wrong with me?
"Omega,"
"Do you need anything else, Alpha?" She stared at her hand, making it obvious that my touch annoyed her.
"How are your bruises?" I asked and let go of her. She had been wearing a sweater and sweatpants that covered her bruises on her body, so I couldn't tell if they were gone or not.
"They were caused by the punishments I served for rejecting my Alpha, I don't think anyone should care about how well they are healing since I deserve them." She said through gritted teeth, the sarcasm in her tone was glaring. What had gotten into her? She still didn't stare at me and was acting so cold and daring.
"You're no longer serving punishment, so your injuries should be cared for."
"Doctor Crystal will take care of that. You shouldn't have or feel sorry about them."
"Are you "
"If you'd permit me, I'd like to head to my bedroom. I have a terrible headache from being around such a mighty person like you." Did she just cut me off?! And she just indirectly said my presence was giving her a headache?! What was wrong with my omega?
"Fine. You can leave." The muscles in my face crumpled as I tried to hold my anger in.
'Isn't she just so good looking when she's angry? She's rarely ever angry. She looks so confident without trembling like a chicken all the time.' Drex smirked.
'So the strongest wolf isn't pissed off by an Omega's bad attitude towards him?'
'Not when she's our mate.'
'She's not our mate. Jeez. She rejected us.'
'So what? We didn't accept the rejection, she apologized, there's a huge chance we can still be mates.' He shrugged.
'Whatever makes you sleep at night.' I shut him out and returned to work, reminding myself that no one else was going to do it for me.

After my time at the gym, I had my bath and headed to bed. Sleep was far away from me tonight, increasing my frustration. After such a long day of work, couldn't I at least enjoy quality rest?
I gave up on sleeping and headed outside. Drex wanted to have his time, so I switched and went on a run, letting the cool night breeze dance against my fur. I also went around the pack town to make sure patrol was going fine and everything in the pack was safe.
When it was midnight, I switched to my human form and headed back to the pack house. Of course, Drex felt it was a great idea to check up on his so-called mate again.
'You need help.' I rolled my eyes at him. 'You certainly do. Why wouldn't any werewolf want a mate? It's such a joyous thing to finally have our other half and be hopeful to meet her by the end of every day.'
'A mate would only make me feel weak and stupid and would limit me from my complete freedom.'
'Stupid.'
'Stupid? Seriously? We've always remained adamant on believing this opinion our whole lives. What got into you?' I scoffed at him.
'Yes, that was until our real mate came. Don't worry, you'll experience it too.'
I rolled my eyes at him. When I was only a few feet away from the Omega's room, I heard her scream. Her scream made it feel like a fire alarm ran in my body as I scurried to her room.
She was screaming again and crying, shutting her eyes really tight with her hands by the side of her head.
"What's wrong?" I asked as I ran to her. "Alpha," she snapped her eyes open at me, "thank goodness you're awake. Someone was here again. The person was in a cloak." She explained, panting.
"No one can be here. I just went around the pack and the pack house. Everything is fine. It's probably just your imagination or a trauma from Kim's death."
"No, Alpha. I'm not crazy. The person was here. The person said nothing and when I screamed, the person left through the window. Her hands and her entire body were quavering as tears rolled down her eyes in a fast way I believed wasn't normal.
"You are " I stopped talking when I spotted muddy boots' footprints that led to her window. "
Footprints?"
"Footprints?" She only noticed them. "Yes! You can see it too. I'm not crazy."
I traced the footsteps to the window. With my heightened sense of smell, I ought to smell the person's scent, but there was nothing. "I'll check around again." She held me back from leaving. The horror in her deep blue eyes and the way her chest rose and fell made it crystal clear that she was scared. "Please, don't go. I'm very scared. I can't be alone." She let go of me, her hands quivering even more. "What do they want from me? What if someone wants to kill me?" Her tears increased and she buried her head in my chest, sobbing as she hugged me really tight. Hugging someone and being hugged was against what I stood for, no one had the right to hug me.
"Please Alpha, don't push me away. I'm scared. What if I'm in danger?" Her voice croaked. Her tears against my chest made me feel like something melted my soul. I still couldn't place my finger on why her tears affected me so much every time. As much as I wanted to search for whoever it was that caused her tears tonight, I couldn't leave her. She seemed to need my comfort more than me fighting over the reason for her tears. I wrapped my arms around her, brushing her hair. "
Don't worry, you're fine." I uttered assuring words to her.
"What does the person want from me? Why can't I ever be free from worry?" she sobbed, tightening her arms around me.
"It's okay, you're fine." The gentleness in my voice surprised me. Her warm embrace felt like I was sprayed with an entire can of calmness. "First Liam didn't stop torturing me, now this," she blubbered
"It's fine, okay?" Where the fuck did I learned how to console someone? "I really can't believe anyone had the audacity to walk into my pack and even access your room in my pack house without the security noticing. If someone actually got into the pack prison when you were there, Kim had something to say to you related to you avoiding danger, and you claim for someone to be following you and the person even got into your room without a trail, then you must be in danger or associated with danger." My frown returned. I pulled away from her, holding her shoulders. "From tonight, you'll stay in my room. You're not safe. Since you're the weakest pack member, you'll be more prone to attacks. You'll have to move to my room and stick around me everyday."
