We were all fully-prepared and determined to find Keegan today and return home with him.
Chloe switched to her wolf form and started leading the way while we all followed behind her. She was way slower than I'd have wanted to run, but I had to bear with it.
The run lasted for really long minutes till we finally stopped in front of a small building surrounded by so many men, judging from their musty scent, clearly rogues.
'Be careful and attack them at once.' I ordered and after a count, we charged at them. They were so confused to even do anything so we were able to kill or knock them out in accordance.
"According to Vladimir, there might still be more guards in and we'll have to be even more careful." Chloe said in a bark. "And according to him, we'll be better in our human form.
"Really?"
"Yes. Please switch quickly."
Good thing we had planned for a few wolves to carry clothes for us in bags. We received clothes from the bags then we had to quickly switch to our human form and headed back, fully dressed.
I nodded in confirmation as a sign and we all stealthily walked in while a few guards stayed outside. Mom and Dad were standing close to me while Scarlett and Shane were quite far from me.
The moment we got in, the entire room was dark and I managed to find the switch that lit the room.
My heart literally fell when I saw Keegan with his arms and legs completely chained to the walls beside him and he was dipped in a liquid with a very terrible smell.
I immediately started heading towards him but someone rang in my head, 'wait!'
"The liquid contains wolfsbane and it's very deadly." Shane warned. "I knew it!" Someone exclaimed.
When we turned around, we noticed a few men heading towards us.
I glanced back at Keegan and he wasn't opening his eyes. He looked out of life and that made my heart beat race wildly and the weakness that overtook me was inexplicable.
We had to attack the men physically and I was really great and defending myself against one of the big men.
I knocked my opponent down with ease, thanks to Roger's training and glanced around, confirming that our pack members had finished them.
"Jane, do not touch him yet. We'll have to break his chain without physical contact." Scarlett said.
I glanced at her with furrowed eyebrows, impatience was eating me up and all I wanted to do right now was to confirm that he was alive.
"I can help with that." Mom said and stepped closer to him. She extended her hands and started mouthing something. Immediately, without physical contact, she was able to lift Keegan up from the pool of wolfsbane and the chains on him broke then he fell to the floor.
I quickly ran to him.
"Jane, don't touch him yet!" Dad warmed me but it was too late.
I didn't take heed to their warming and held him, cupping his face." Keegan, wake up." I tapped his face.
He didn't even budge and it made my heart beat rate increase to a thousand beats per minute. "Call for the ambulance! We need to get him treatment!" I exclaimed to them.
They nodded and Scarlett and Shane left in a hurry while others still maintained their distance.
'Nothing must happen to our mate.' Vera howled.
"Please wake up. I hope we're not too late." I began to cry, gently slapping his face to try to wake him up with his head on my leg. The wolfsbane on him burned me but I didn't care about that.
He was still breathing; it was very soft, almost not to be considered breathing.
I shut my eyes and placed my fingertips on his bare chest, trying to activate my healing capability and just let my hand glide over him. It felt like something was leaving my body and it was making me feel even more weak.
After a while, I was snapped out of my deep thoughts when he suddenly coughed his way awake.
I opened my eyes. "Keegan?"
His eyes opened a bit and fluttered. "Jane," his tone was very low, almost silent. He coughed again then his eyes closed.
"Hurry up with an ambulance!" I yelled and more people rushed to call for an ambulance.
This time, his breathing was more in rhythm and better and I was glad that it was at least a good sign.
Keegan had been returned to the Pack by professionals but he was still unconscious. It turns out he had also been poisoned orally according to Vladimir's prediction. I had tried my healing techniques on him as well as with the help from health professionals, but because I hadn't developed my gift yet well enough, he still hadn't woken up. Though he was showing great signs of improvements in his movement and breathing, I just needed my Alpha mate back.
"How is Keegan now?" Rylee asked me.
"Way better than before."
"When will he wake up?" She hugged her teddy pretty close to her chest.
"Soon, okay? Don't be worried." I kissed her forehead and held her hands to lead her outside with me.
I needed a refreshing breeze, so I decided to head to the garden.
I halted my steps when Casper and Mae were already seated on the garden bench.
She had her head buried in his chest, crying, while he stroked her hair, muttering comforting words to her and kissed her head.
"I don't know what to do now. Where can she be? Where can they be?"
Mason and Crystal were still nowhere to be seen. We had no report about them and had been in search of them.
I knew Mason had left the vicinity of the meeting. If only I had asked what was wrong and made him come back, he wouldn't be missing.
I turned around, heaving a deep sigh. I just needed everything to be back to normal at the pack.
"Luna, Alpha is awake!" Grant said.
"Really?" I quickly ran towards our bedroom and found Keegan sitting on the bed with a few members around him.
I rushed to sit beside him, running my hand on his face and glancing at his body. "Oh my gosh, Keegan, I'm so glad you're finally awake!" I pulled him into a really tight hug.
When I pulled away, he had his brows furrowed in confusion. "Can someone explain what's going on?"
"You were captured, Jane revived everyone with her new powers, we had to fight against a terrible attack from Stefan then he tried to attack Jane, Jane killed him, Vladimir decided to switch sides and told Chloe your location. We found you. With Jane's and the health worker's help, you're now awake." Scarlett summarized.
He just gazed at me, still looking so confused then ran his hand over his face. "That explains the terrible headache I have."
Rylee suddenly ran into the room and climbed on the bed to pull Keegan into a really tight hug.
"You're finally awake! I've cried my eyes out so much." She said and kissed his cheek. "How do you feel now?" she held his face, turning his head to check him out.
We chuckled at her and I had to take her hand of him. "You're so sweet, but don't break his neck."
"Jane," Ivy called as she ran into the room with Renee. "A new vivid vision: It turns out that from the effect of the wolfsbane and you trying to heal him with your powers, it might take your life." Ivy suddenly said.
"What the heck now?" I frowned.
"Yes, and the only way to prevent that is if you complete the ceremony and get married to him." Renee added.
"Why does it seem like new problems just always pop up?" Rylee puckered her forehead.
"Okay. Who are these people?" Keegan wondered.
"They are from the new pack. Ivy has the gift to see detailed visions,
Renee is great at providing solutions to problems regardless of its difficulty." I explained.
"So many things have happened, I think I'll need to read the record so I'm not lost." He chuckled, such an angelic sound my ears have died to hear again. "So... you mean, if I don't get married to Jane immediately, she might die?"
"Exactly!" they both said.
"What are we waiting for? What's stopping us from getting married? We can start the preparation tonight and get married tomorrow." "Plus, there's going to be a full moon tomorrow." Dad said.
"And it'll be more beautiful and will seal your bond forever if you get married during the full moon." Mom added with a warm smile.
Keegan glanced at my parents then at me then back at them. "What's going on again?"
"Jeez, there's so much I have to explain to you." "Definitely." He glanced. "Please start the preparation for the ceremony. It has to take place during the full moon." He said with a dismissive wave of his hand and everyone except Rylee took their leave for our much-deserved privacy.
"How do you feel now?" I asked him.
"I feel completely normal and so confused, but I guess I'm fine."
I smacked my lips against his, drawing him into a passion-filled kiss and held his face, tilted my head to devour the taste of his lips. I had missed this feeling!
"At least mind my presence." Rylee protested and I chuckled, pulling away from him.
"I love you so much." I said and hugged him.
"I love you too."
Rylee joined in the hug. "By this time tomorrow or next tomorrow, you'll be married and I'll be your daughter. I'm so excited for it!"
The preparations for the ceremony happened sooner than I could imagine. We decided that the venue was going to be towards the lake so the moon's reflection could be even more perfect in the water.
Chloe had done my makeup, and of course, she made me look like a goddess.
My wedding dress was a dark wine velvet gown that was floor sweeping and had spaghetti straps with a wine corset on my waistline. I didn't know how Choice had managed to get it on such short notice, but it was my perfect size and I loved it.
It was only a few minutes till 12AM, so Dad had come to pick me up.
"You look extremely beautiful. I never thought I'd see this day, but I'm glad I'm privileged to see my daughter's wedding ceremony." He had a proud smile on and hugged me, planting a fatherly kiss on my forehead. "I love you and I'm glad we got to see the real light before it was too late."
I was grinning from ear to ear, also glad that my parents and grandmother were present at my wedding.
Dad led me to the venue with Keegan looking extremely handsome in his wine tuxedo that matched my gown. When I stopped in front of him, I couldn't stop myself from running a quick scan of his body.
"You look so sexy, I'm jealous." I chuckled.
"You look even more beautiful." He said and held my hands.
One of the elders that were always in a cloak from my parents' town was the ones officiating the ceremony.
He started the activities and all I could pay attention to was the fact that I was finally getting married to the man I loved. I could've never believed that my life was going to drastically change from being an omega, but here I was, getting married to an Alpha and about to officially become Luna of the largest pack.
"Does anyone object to this wedding?" he suddenly asked and I glanced him with a frown. That shouldn't be necessary.
Keegan and I glanced at the crowd of audience and I noticed he was staring at Scarlett where she sat beside Shane, they were holding hands (knowingly or not, I didn't care, it seemed cute).
"In the absence of none and since the previous Luna isn't here to transfer the title, we'll have to disregard her and make you the first official Luna of Dark Stone pack."
We still had no idea where Kate was, but I didn't bother about her. I only cared about sealing my bond with Keegan completely.
"Do you, Alpha Keegan Gray, take Jane Ardolf to be your official Luna?" He asked Keegan.
"Yes, I accept Jane Ardolf to become my official Luna, to grow together in love, joy, happiness or sadness, to scourge through all ups and downs with her, to cherish her for the rest of my life and stick to her for eternity." He said.
I was literally grinning from ear to ear, my entire body danced with bliss.
"Do you, Jane Ardolf, take Alpha Keegan, to be your official mate?" he asked me.
"Yes, I do. I promise to accept him as my mate forever, to love him for the rest of my life, to grow with him, support him in every time of his life, and to be the best Luna I can be to his pack."
"Okay! Now seal the bond with the memorial blood oath."
Rylee did the honors of carrying the tray of the specially carved knife. She looked really cute in her wine dress similar to mine and her smile was the most beautiful smile as she lifted the tray to us.
Keegan was the first to pick up the knife and slit his left wrist, letting his blood pour on the tray.
I took the knife from him and placed my hand over the tray as I slightly slit my wrist too, my blood formed a perfect mix with his in the tray then I returned to knife to it.
"Now connect your cut hands."
We joined our slit wrists and I could feel the sparks that flew from the connection. I felt a stronger bond to him and tingles sprang along every part of my body.
"Your bond is finally sealed under the full moon. I now pronounce you official mates and Alpha and Luna of Dark stone pack. You may kiss your mate."
Keegan lowered his back with his arms around my waist to pull me into a kiss, increasing the tingles that danced in me.
Mom, Dad, Rylee, Vladimir, Chloe, Scarlett, Shane, and other pack members joined us as we celebrated with music and drinks, dancing till our heart content.
As we were about to leave the venue to start our honeymoon, we were suddenly stopped by Kate and she had something dark that looked like a gun in her hands, I remembered it was the same thing Stefan had with him to try to drain my powers and kill me.
"Hands up, everyone!" She hollered. "You all, even stupid Ardolfs, finally decided to come together, uh? Why? You want me dead? If this bitch has her powers, then she has to go!" She barked.
How could she even get past the guards with this madness?
"Mo, what has gotten into you, don't be unreasonable." Keegan frowned at her.
"Unreasonable?" she scoffed.
I observed Keegan signaling for the guards to get her stealthily as she was talking.
"I want nothing but power. Nobody move an inch or I'll blow your Luna's head off." She pointed the gun-like thing at me.
"Kate, pl-please be calm." I tried to make her reasonable with my shaky hands in the air.
"I can't be calm if I'm dying, you bitchy mutt, even Vladimir turn sides?" She glanced at Vladimir. "You're all damn fucking bastards!" As she raised the gun-like material to me, the guards quickly held her. "Let me go!" She hollered and was able to kick one of them in the balls and shot both of them in the head as a glowing green object came out of it as the bullet, they immediately collapsed and fell when it hit them.
That caused panic as everyone ran around and she pointed the gun at me to stop me from running and immediately pulled the trigger.
I shut my eyes and heard the loud shot. My eyes were still tightly shut and I was waiting to feel the effect of the bullet when something hard fell against me.
I opened my eyes and Rylee fell to the ground. Kate stilled tried to pull the trigger at me but was out of her bullet replacement so she immediately started running away.
"Rylee!" I screamed with tears filling up my eyes and crouched to have her in my arms. "Please be okay!" My hands became even more shaky at the amount of blood that flowed from the hole in her dark dress.
"Rylee, please be fine." Keegan crouched to her. "Get Kate!" he ordered the guards.
Rylee coughed as blood escaped her mouth and she grasped onto her bleeding stomach so much, tears also rolling down her face. "I don't think I can make it."
"You will." I assured her.
"Call for an emergency doctor!" Keegan screamed.
"At least I saved you," she chuckled.
I placed my shaky hands on her and tried to heal her with my healing capabilities. I felt the feeling of something leaving me but she shook her head.
"It's pointless, I can feel it. I really wanted to grow up and be a great person, I wanted to be a medical doctor, I wanted to have a great future and be well known, I wanted to make my parents and both of you proud." She was interrupted by her sobbing as she still coughed out blood.
"You'll be fine. Nothing would happen to you." I brushed my quivering hands over her face. "Where the hell is the ambulance?!" I screamed.
"I can't believe this is goodbye." She let out a mirthless laugh.
"Rylee, be calm. You'll be fine." Keegan also assured her.
"At least I died saving you, I died a hero, I'll be remembered." She sobbed and coughed even more.
'Please don't move the child, we'll be there soon!' One it the health workers rang in our head.
"Now that I think about it, I really don't want to die now." Tears started rolling down her face and she winced in pain.
"You won't, little princess, you won't." Keegan assured her, his chest was also rising and falling really fast.
I still tried to heal her again but it wasn't having any effect. "I want to live." She said in a very low voice and tried to raise her bloody hand to touch my face but it fell mid-way and she let out her last cough and collapsed in my arms.
"Rylee, no, no! Don't go!" I screamed at the top of my lungs and burst into tears, trying to revive her again but it only made my fingers numb.
The health workers finally arrived, running up to us with a stretcher.
One of them crouched to us and checked her pulse.
"Please tell me she's fine." Keegan begged her, his voice croaked on every sentence.
Her face became so glum and she didn't say a word.
"No, not Rylee. Rylee can't die, not my baby!" I cried as they pulled her on the stretcher.
Keegan pulled my head to his chest as the guards ran back in, panting. "Mrs. Kate escaped. We lost her and she has hid her scent."
"What the heck?!" Keegan exclaimed with his jaw clenched.
"I'll find that bitch and I'll make sure to strangle her till she breathes her last breath." I said in a very deep tone as Vera's anger was heating me up.
I immediately jerked go my feet started running as my direction gift showed me where she was. I growled, ripping the lower part of my dress off for more ease.
Even in my human form, my speed was so much as I ran towards her direction.
When I finally got to her and she noticed me, she chortled yet still ran even more. My fury burned so much as the veins on my neck had popped up. How dare this bitch still laugh?!
I suddenly landed in front of her and wrapped my hand around her neck.
"Killing me is of no use." She said and still chuckled. That annoying sound set my head on fire.
With the new strength I had received from my gifts, I was able to lift her off her feet while strangling her and raised her till she was above me with my jaw clenched so much as I gnashed my teeth.
"Let me go!" she choked as she struggled to remove my hand from her neck with both her hands, kicking me in the chest. Neither of her efforts affected me, Rylee's face and voice kept ringing in my head and the fact that this psycho was behind her going made me burn with the highest level of exasperation.
"You made the worst mistake by killing my Rylee!" My voice was extremely deep as Vera's anger was also surfacing.
Her face began to turn blue and I let out a groan as I threw her out of my grip. She hit her head really hard against the rock, and just like Stefan, she looked completely stiff.
Her eyes were very widened with her hands still on her neck as blood oozed out of her head.
Keegan and a few others caught up with me and I dropped to the ground to resume crying while Keegan crouched beside me.
"She's dead." One of the guards confirmed.
I buried my head in Keegan's chest to cry my eyes out while he embraced me, rubbing my back.
Why did Kate have to mix tragedy with this day?
