Chapter 103 Chapter 103
\- JANE -
Now that I was back in my human form, Keegan pouncing on me and scratching my tummy had caused a lot of injuries to me. Now my arm and tummy had a deep scratch.
"See? He's so terrible. He couldn't even spare you." Freya said as she applied herbs to my wounds. I hissed from the pain and it only reminded me of when Keegan was treating me back at the beach house.
I ought to be mad at Keegan for causing these injuries but the moment his wolf touched mine, Vera and I could feel the spark.
'What if our mate isn't as terrible as we think? His touch made me go so crazy for him and I could feel the bond.' Vera said just what I was thinking about.
'Yes, now a part of me is missing him but it still feels like a force is holding me back from seeing him as a good person. What the heck is wrong with me?'
'It's strange and I'm certain something is up. He even let us go when he knew it was his mate. I wanted to yell at him even more and attack him back but the mate bond didn't let me try to attack him.' She groaned, sounding equally perplexed.
"How do you feel now?" Mom asked as she walked into the chamber.
"I feel better, thank you." I smiled at her.
"Look at what that stupid asshole did to my daughter. Gosh, I feel like digging my canines into him." Mom frowned as she stared at the wound.
"It's fine, I'm better now." I chuckled.
"How do you feel about Keegan now?" Freya asked with her eyes drawn in askance at me.
"What do you mean?" I quirked an eyebrow.
"Of course, she still feels the same way." Mom said, brushing my hair with her hand. "Right Jane?"
As she stroked my hair, it increased the forever holding me down and my anger towards Keegan awoke again. A frown etched on my face as the thoughts of him not being so bad vanished and I was reminded of the terrible person he was. "I definitely still hate him."
'Yeah, there's no need to care about the sparks. He's still a fucking bastard that just wants to use us for his benefit, just for his stupid revenge.' Vera drew her lips into a snarl.
"That's great. I thought you lost it for a while." Freya said with a lopsided smile. "We'll have to keep you with the Montgomerys when they finally return, they need to perform something on you to finally seal your bond with us and make you forget about Keegan. Of course, only if you agree to it. They'd get rid of everything that might make you think he's nice so you won't be heartbroken from the pain he has caused you."
"Of course, I give my consent to it." I replied without a second thought.
"Great!" her smile was suspicious but I didn't care. All I wanted was to be able to get rid of every memory of Keegan so his annoying words didn't make me feel so frustrated and shattered.
KEEGAN ~
I was so confused. What the hell happened to Jane?
'What could be wrong with our mate? Why'd she just change towards us?'
'I have no idea, but I'm certain that she must've overheard my conversation with Mom, they'
'If that's the reason, I'll kill you. Why the hell would you take such a risk? Who the hell is Kate? She has only made your life miserable, she doesn't deserve any explanation from you?' he frowned at me.
'I know, I feel so terrible right now. How am I supposed to find Jane now?'
"Good afternoon Alpha. " Mason greeted me as he walked into the hall.
"Mason, I'm so glad you're here. Do you have any idea-"
"Others will be here soon. The pack members are filled with so much rage that the supposed Luna is working with an enemy. Now they claim that their doubts have been confirmed and they know she could never be a good Luna." He said.
"What the heck? No, no way! I know Jane more than anyone else in this pack and I know she's definitely not going to betray me without a reason."
Mom, Mrs. Bea, Shane, and Scarlett walked in at once as Mom stormed to us.
"I knew that bitchy woman couldn't be trusted at all!" she barked. " Now she's working with Ardolfs? How else will she ruin your life any further?"
"Be calm." I said.
"Why should I be calm? Oh, so you're going to claim that she's innocent and blah blah blah? Everyone in the pack had their doubts and it has been confirmed!"
"So many lives have been lost today all because of one woman. I definitely didn't trust her from the scratch." Shane added.
"Me neither. That good for nothing bitch has just ruined everything!" Scarlett added.
"Be calm!" I hollered at them in my Alpha tone that commanded authority. They all went dead silent for me to speak again, "I know you must all be very angry, but who attacked her? I did, not any of you-"
"So now you feel guilty for attacking her instead of feeling sorrowful over the lives of pack members that have been lost?" Mom's tone was smeared with so much fury like she could kill Jane if she saw her right now.
"No. I saw her and judging from the darkness and the look in her wolf's eyes, it's obvious that something is wrong.
Scarlett scoffed. "Now something is wrong because it's Jane."
"You all better keep quiet before I lose my temper." I warned. "No one must utter any terrible word against my mate, against your Luna. Why'd she suddenly change? We all know how manipulative the Ardolfs can be, we aren't supposed to trust them. What if your Luna is in trouble and instead of saving her, you're being so furious and ridiculous about it.
"We understand your perspective, but we have to protect the people.
If the pack is attacked next time by her, we wouldn't miss the chance to snap her head off. Now she has a wolf? Who knows if she had been pretending all along to be wolfless just to execute this goal?" Shane said.
"That's unreasonable. I'm the Alpha. I'd have known if she was pretending to be wolfless. I'll assume her training with Roger just paid off to let her have her wolf." I glared at him.
'Alpha, they are all filled with so much rage and they'd definitely not believe anything you say no matter how hard you try to defend Jane. Take a look at their angry faces.' Mason linked me and when I glanced at them, their faces were so contorted and it was obvious that no matter how much I tried to convince them, none of it was going to remain their head. 'You can dismiss me. Since I trust Jane, we can create a solution to it together because they won't be of any help if they don't believe it.'
"So now we're going to remain quiet about it?" Mrs. Bea asked, trying to conceal her fury. 'I can't 5mtrusr those Ardolfs after all they did to me and now that Jane working with them, she must hate all of us because of the way we treated her at the pack and would spare no mercy on either of us."
"I think you're right. The meeting is dismissed. We'll have to tighten the security and also ensure everything is arranged back to order. Beta Scarlett, I'm relying on you to set things right and ensure the family of the deceased are compensated. Try to fix everything for now." "Now he didn't give Mason any order." I heard Scarlett mutter underneath her breath before replying, "Yes, Alpha."
"You can all leave." I dismissed them.
'Mason, ensure you meet me in my bedroom.' I linked him.
When they all left, I let out a frustrated groan and headed to my bedroom.
Mason had just walked in too and waved at Rylee.
I locked the door and ambled to him. "Okay, what do you think we can do? I'm so glad you also believe something is wrong with Jane."
"I also believe that." Rylee said. "I've been walking around and everyone has been uttering bad words about her and saying she's not worthy of being Luna, but I know Jane, and I trust that something is definitely wrong. She wouldn't harm the pack, she's a sweet person.
"See? Even the girl gets it!" I exclaimed.
"If she's truly with the Ardolfs, then I know where Jane is." Mason said.
"You do?! Where is she?"
"I'm not completely certain, but when Sabrina told me, I had to take the risk of my marriage to go with her and I know where Jane might be."
"That's so great. Let's head there now."
"No, not now, Keegan. It'll have to be until tomorrow. I need to be with Crystal tonight, please permit me."
"Okay," though I wanted to tell him to let us head there right now, I wanted to respect that his marriage was very much important to him and I couldn't let him wreck him home at the expense of saving my relationship.
"Thank you." He took his leave.
I shut the door again and staggered to sit on the bed with my head hung low. I felt so crazy right now. I didn't know what to do without my Jane. I really hoped she was fine and I was so certain that she was under some type of influence, because it made no sense for her to just magically be in collaboration with the Ardolfs. How did she meet them? What's her relationship with them?
"I'm sure she'll come back to us and like you again as the normal Jane we know. It'll be fine, don't worry." Rylee assured me. She knelt on the bed beside me and pulled me into a hug, patting my head.
"Thank you so much." I hugged her back, glad I had support even though she was a child.
"Just thank you?" she scoffed and pulled away with a pout.
"Oh, sorry. Thank you, little princess." I corrected myself and a victorious smile played on her lips that made me smile as well.
I would've turned into a crazy monster if she wasn't around me to raise my hopes. I was so grateful for her presence and couldn't wait for Jane and I to adopt her because she made such a great daughter.
"Is it time to leave yet?" Rylee asked as I brushed my hair.
"I guess so. I'll wait for Mason to arrive so we can-"
I was interrupted by Mason stepping into the room. "We have to leave now, Alpha."
"Okay!" I dropped the brush.
"I wish you best of luck, however, I'm really hungry and unclean."
She rubbed her tummy with her face scrunched up. "Hang on." I stopped and mind linked Diane. 'Hey Diane, head over to my bedroom and take care of Rylee. Brush her teeth, give her a nice bath, purchase new clothes for her then make her a meal right now.'
'Okay, Alpha.' She said then I ended the link.
"Diane will be here soon. Let's go, Mason." Mason and I left the house then we got into his car as he started driving away.
The drive lasted for a while till he suddenly stopped in the middle of a forest.
"Are we here yet?" I glanced around, but there was no sign of Jane or anywhere she could be staying.
"No, according to Sabrina, we wouldn't be able to move any further in a vehicle, so we'll have to switch and run there.
An uneasy feeling rested on me and my tummy hurt, it felt like I was about to be in pain, but that made no sense, since I was the Alpha, I couldn't be experiencing such pain, so it could only mean one thing.
"Mason, do you have any idea if I can feel my mate's pain?"
"Yes, it happens a lot of the time. Since you marked her and you're officially mates, you might feel restless or in pain if she's about to be in trouble. Why are you asking? Do you feel that way?" he quirked an eyebrow.
"I definitely do! What Jane is in trouble? Let's hurry up." "Okay.." He got out of the car then we switched and carried our pants in our wolf's mouths as he led the way.
We ran really fast, clearly because Jane while my heart was racing at the possibility of Jane being in trouble.
The run lasted for the next few minutes and it was obvious Mason was kind of exhausted from running so much.
'Isn't there a shortcut?" I linked him.
'Sabrina said there is, but she didn't want to let me know without placing a condition on it.' He scoffed.
'Let's hurry up!' I moaned and we increased our pace.
After a while of running more, he finally came to a halt.
'Be careful. There's a trap around here. We'll have to jump over a few things.
I followed his lead as he carefully jumped over a log and I avoided the steps he avoided, then he jumped over something that looked like a fence of leaves.
"We're finally here!" he exclaimed.
Where we were was filled with so many trees, grasses, flowers, like a large garden.
"Where is Jane?" I wondered.
"Yes, that's another problem. Since you have a high hearing sensitivity, try to trace her voice. Sabrina said they've sealed her scent so we wouldn't be able to track her down by her scent.
I really hoped I was going to be able to do that. 'First, we'll have to switch back.' Seriously? Was that necessary now?
I went behind a tree and switched back, sliding into my pants then returned to Mason who was also in his pants.
I strained my ears to listen to Jane's voice and after a while, I heard her say. "Sure, no problem." Her voice was loud enough, so it was obvious that we were close to her.
I started heading in the direction of her voice and Mason followed me.
"Do I stay like this?" I heard her ask and someone replied to her.
"Yes, that's fine."
When we finally got to her, she was laying on a large table that also looked like grasses too and a few herbs were around her with strange -looking short and fat men and an extremely short and fatter woman in clothes like grasses. They were rolling a dark cylindrical stick around her. Her gaze was fixed on what they were rolling as they made her inhale the smoke. These people were clearly using dark magic on Jane, I knew it!
