Chapter 159 Crazy Heartbeat
When Elizabeth finished the digestive tea in her hand, knowing she was about to take her afternoon nap, John and Donna stood up at the right moment to say they were leaving.
The words that should have been said remained unsaid.
The matters that should have been handled remained unhandled.
Not only did they give away a handbag for nothing, but they also got told off by Frederick?
The smiles on their faces vanished the instant they walked out the door. John and Donna's expressions turned dark.
As the car drove out of the alley entrance, John, in the driver's seat, glared hard at Donna. "Can't you tell what's important and what's not? What good did running your mouth like that do? You're so stupid, you might as well just die!"
Donna was even angrier. "You're not stupid? If you're not stupid, why didn't you speak up! What, you always let me be the bad guy while you play the nice, kind uncle? You wish! You should see whether Frederick even takes you seriously!"
They bickered for a bit, vented their anger, then each fell silent.
After a long while, Donna sighed quietly, "I really don't know what he sees in Rebecca. She's got nothing going for her except her looks, and now they're registered and married. Tell me, should we let Celine know?"
"Keep your mouth shut!"
John shook his head and sighed. "If this were before, with that child around, if Celine put in some effort, maybe she could have made Frederick change his mind! But now that they're married, Rebecca is the legitimate Mrs. Windsor. Do you think Frederick is the type to get married and divorced in a flash?"
"But Celine..."
She wanted to argue back, but didn't know where to start.
After a long pause, Donna muttered quietly, "But they do have a child..."
The sound of brakes suddenly rang out. Slamming on the gas, John pulled the car over to the side of the road. His face dark, he glared at Donna as if he wanted to lunge forward and slap her. "You're going to die from that broken mouth of yours sooner or later! Is that something you can mention? You got a death wish or what?"
"I..."
After muttering something, Donna knew she'd misspoken. "Fine, fine, fine, nephew, nephew! I'll keep this buried in my stomach and never mention it again, okay?"
"You're so stupid, you might as well just die!"
Cursing angrily, John restarted the car and drove forward.
In the living room of the Windsor Mansion, Frederick held Elizabeth's hand with a gentle expression, completely different from his coldness moments ago. "Grandmother, don't take today's events to heart."
"Alright..."
Knowing Frederick was worried she might mind Rebecca's comment about not considering it for two years, Elizabeth nodded with a smile. "I understand everything."
After speaking, Elizabeth looked up at Rebecca. "Becca dear, this is your own home. Don't be afraid of saying the wrong thing. I'm not some old monster."
Rebecca nodded with a smile.
Elizabeth smiled and said, "As long as you and Frederick are good together, that's all that matters. As for when you have children, or whether you even want to have children at all, that's your own business. You two just need to discuss it between yourselves. As for other people, ignore them!"
Rebecca stood there, stunned.
Just looking at Rebecca's dazed expression, you could tell her heart was racing.
Frederick shook his head with a laugh.
The two of them, one on each side, walked Elizabeth back to her bedroom. When they returned to their own courtyard and closed the door, Frederick immediately turned and pressed Rebecca against the back of the door.
"Becca..."
Even though only a few hours had passed, Frederick acted as if it had been ages since he'd kissed or held her. He kissed her fiercely. "Do you not want to have children, or do you not want to have children with me?"
Even though she'd learned how to breathe during kisses, being kissed so intensely by him, Rebecca still couldn't quite handle it.
Not getting a reply from Rebecca, when Frederick finally released her, his eyes were full of restrained madness. "Becca?"
