Chapter 99 Good Things Happen
"Hello, Mr. Ryan. I'm Mike, from the Windsor Group's president's office."
With just one sentence from Mike, Floyd froze.
For the first time in his life, he was meeting someone from the Windsor Group.
Though he had no idea how they knew about him.
"Hello, Mr. Williams..."
Floyd shook hands with Mike. "May I ask what this is about?"
"Mr. Ryan, where are you working now?"
"I was at Summit Law Firm until yesterday. I resigned today."
"Found a better job?"
"Not yet... I'm planning to take a few days off before looking for something new."
"This is an employment offer from the Windsor Group. If you're interested, once you've rested, you can report to Director Cheng at the Windsor Group's legal department. Of course, if you have better options, the Windsor Group will respect and support your decision."
Floyd stood there stunned, instinctively looking up at the sun overhead.
It was noon, with the sun blazing bright.
Though the air was still bitterly cold, it was definitely broad daylight—he wasn't dreaming.
Looking back down, he saw the document Mike was handing him.
On the first page of the laminated document, the Windsor Group's company logo was clearly visible.
Even more obvious than the logo were the words "Employment Offer."
Floyd was completely dumbstruck.
He never imagined such good fortune could come his way.
This was the Windsor Group!
The Windsor Group's legal department was something lawyers like him could only dream of joining.
Sure, they were still employees, but the lawyers in the Windsor Group's legal department made more money in a year than law firm owners who worked themselves to the bone—and without having to worry about risks.
And everyone in the Windsor Group's legal department was a heavyweight in the industry.
Never mind working alongside them—even studying under them was something Floyd wouldn't dare dream of.
And people who left the Windsor Group's legal department—as long as they weren't fired—would have countless headhunters coming after them before their resumes even hit the internet.
Rather than just taking a job, it was more like getting your credentials gold-plated.
And now, this opportunity had literally fallen into his lap.
Looking at the offer letter in his hands, then back up at Mike, whose expression had been warm the whole time, Floyd asked cautiously, "May I ask why?"
Glancing at the silhouette in the Maybach's back seat, Mike smiled. "Probably... because of your expertise. Or maybe because you're a good person, and that's the quality we value most in talent at the Windsor Group."
With that, Mike extended his hand again. "If possible, welcome to the Windsor Group!"
After shaking hands and turning to leave, Floyd still felt like he was dreaming.
When he got back to the office, he was walking on air.
"Now that we're parting ways, who knows when we'll see each other again. Mr. Ryan, why don't we all chip in and treat you to a farewell lunch?"
"Exactly... In our line of work, real skills matter, but luck is just as important. When someone's luck runs out, staring down an endless downhill road really is pretty depressing. Mr. Ryan, let's stay in touch. If any of us make it big or open our own law firm, we'll definitely call you first."
"Mr. Ryan, you better not turn us down then!"
One after another, they spoke, looking at Floyd as he quietly packed up his desk, their expressions mocking.
All their suspicions from a month ago—when they learned he'd been personally interviewed and hired by the boss—had completely vanished.
So what if he was capable?
So what if he'd worked in a big company's legal department?
If he thought he could block their path at Summit Law Firm and steal their cases, that was impossible!
Unable to take it anymore, Floyd looked up, his smile polite and refined. "Luck really is important. I'm reporting to the Windsor Group's legal department tomorrow, so I doubt we'll have many chances to see each other. I wish you all smooth sailing and great success!"
Only then did everyone notice the Windsor Group employment offer on Floyd's desk.
Then they saw his beaming expression.
Everyone froze.
The Windsor Group?
Was it the Windsor Group they were thinking of?
The Windsor Group legal department where you start at the top with a million-dollar salary?
