Chapter 74 Hero Falls for Beauty
It felt like there was a little bug flying around Rebecca's face, landing on her nose one moment, then on her chin the next.
She swatted at it for a while, and just when things had quieted down, that annoying little bug came back again.
Unable to take it anymore, Rebecca irritably opened her eyes, only to see Alex holding a strand of hair with a big grin on his face.
Looking up further, she saw Frederick sitting on the edge of the bed.
Rebecca was confused for a moment, then slowly remembered this wasn't home—they were still at the ski resort.
"Is it really late?"
Rebecca sat up and turned to look out the window.
Then fell silent.
Outside the window was pitch black—you couldn't see your hand in front of your face.
"We should get going..."
After quickly putting on her boots and bundling Alex up warmly, Rebecca followed Frederick out the door, looking embarrassed.
"Rebecca, did you rest well? Was that bed comfortable? If not, just say so—I'll have it changed tomorrow. I'll get an imported velvet mattress from overseas."
As soon as they stepped out, they were greeted by Peter's smiling face.
Rebecca felt even more embarrassed. "Thank you, Mr. Green. Sorry for the trouble!"
"No trouble at all..."
Meeting Frederick's disapproving gaze and realizing he was also at fault for making Rebecca uncomfortable, Peter quickly responded, sighing inwardly: Men!
There's an old saying—even heroes fall for beautiful women.
Sure enough, even Frederick couldn't escape this rule.
"Rebecca, are you in a hurry to get home? If not, would you do me the honor of letting me treat you and Mr. Windsor to dinner?"
As they walked outside, Peter asked Rebecca.
Rebecca hesitated.
It was already late, and she needed to get back to school.
But Peter was Frederick's friend—if she refused his invitation, wouldn't that hurt Frederick's pride?
Rebecca looked up at Frederick.
"Another time."
Frederick took Rebecca's hand and tucked it into his coat pocket. "When Ethan and Benjamin can join us too."
This was... officially bringing her out to meet his inner circle?
Peter immediately understood. "Sounds good!"
At the parking lot, Peter graciously opened the back door for Alex and Rebecca.
Ruffling Alex's hair, he said, "Alex, I didn't take good care of you today. Next time you want to come, I'll personally take you out to play, okay?"
Alex nodded.
Peter turned to Rebecca. "Rebecca, today was all my fault for startling you! I've prepared a small gift and had it sent to Pinewood Mansion. Please don't think it's too shabby!"
He glanced at Frederick, who looked calm and indifferent.
Rebecca smiled and nodded. "Thank you, Mr. Green!"
As the Maybach sped into the night, Peter couldn't wait to pull out his phone and start typing away in their Facebook group chat.
When the desolate night scenery outside gradually became more lively, Rebecca knew they'd reached downtown.
Rebecca glanced at Frederick, who was focused on driving, then turned back and took Alex's hand. "Becca has to go back to school. Starting tomorrow, we'll both study hard on our own, and we'll play together again next weekend, okay?"
Alex shook his head, eyes full of confusion: Why can't you stay at home?
Rebecca sighed. "If I stay at home, Becca will just want to play and won't want to study, and then I'll be a bad influence on you."
A muffled laugh sounded.
Rebecca turned back and saw his eyes full of amusement in the rearview mirror.
She was deliberately saying that to coax Alex, okay?
Rebecca glared at him indignantly.
Frederick suppressed his smile and nodded. "Okay, okay, I'll stop laughing. Mrs. Windsor is right! Is that better?"
Saying she was right meant he was agreeing with her words—that she really did just want to play and not study?
Rebecca: !
