Chapter 60: Darling, Please!
As soon as Rebecca got off the frog hopper ride, she covered her mouth and rushed to the trash can.
Everything went dark. Without looking up, Rebecca waved her hand, "I'm fine. Alexander, wait for me. Once I'm done throwing up, I'll be a tough girl again..."
When gentle pats landed on her back, Rebecca froze.
When she straightened up, she saw Frederick.
Frederick's gaze was heavy and somber.
She didn't know if he thought she was pushing herself when she couldn't handle it.
Or if it was because Mrs. Windsor was throwing up so ungracefully in public, embarrassing him.
"Why are you here?... When did you arrive?"
Not expecting Frederick to witness her most embarrassing moment of throwing up, Rebecca's face showed some awkwardness.
Taking the water he handed her, she drank it in small sips.
When Alex grabbed her hand and pointed at the frog hopper, before Rebecca could nod, Frederick's cold voice rang out, "No!"
With one word, the atmosphere instantly became tense.
Looking at Alex with his pouty lips and unhappy face.
Then looking at Frederick with his stern face and displeased expression.
Rebecca said in a low voice, "Frederick, I'm fine... I didn't throw up because I was dizzy. It's just that I shouldn't have gone on such an intense up-and-down ride so soon after eating. Now that I've thrown up, I'm already fine."
Frederick shot her an icy glance, and Rebecca immediately fell silent.
The hopeful light that had just appeared in Alex's eyes instantly dimmed again.
Rebecca's heart softened.
She couldn't bear to see Alex show that disappointed, dejected, and pitiful expression.
Childhood is all about having fun, isn't it?
"How about... you go with him?"
As soon as Rebecca made the suggestion, she saw Alex beside her shake his head.
He even moved closer to Rebecca, tightly gripping the hem of her down jacket.
Frederick's face darkened even more.
Rebecca fell silent.
"Frederick, can you be reasonable?"
Rebecca looked frustrated, "Last night, weren't you the one who told me we should communicate well? I communicated with you, but you rejected me without even considering it. Is this your idea of communication?"
Feeling her tone was too harsh, Rebecca quickly promised, "I really didn't throw up because I couldn't handle it. I promise there's no problem, really!"
"Frederick, Mr. Windsor, darling..."
Going through all the terms of endearment she could think of, Rebecca said in a sweet voice, "Please!"
The noisy surroundings instantly became as quiet as if no one was there.
In Frederick's ears and heart, there was only her coquettish plea: Darling, please!
Rebecca's palm-sized face was nestled in her fluffy hood, her eyes and face full of happy pleading.
"Okay!"
Frederick nodded as if possessed. By the time he came to his senses, it was too late to take it back.
"Let's go..."
The adult and child holding hands rushed toward the frog hopper, quickly disappearing into the crowd.
Ruffling Alex's hair, pinching his cheeks.
Not forgetting to turn back and wink at him.
Rebecca smiled happily.
The sunlight overhead poured down warmly, the whole earth bright and pleasant.
There were people everywhere, and it was noisy all around.
Yet Frederick felt as if that beam of golden light was shining on Rebecca like a spotlight.
He could only see her.
"Ah..."
When the excited screams rang out again, Frederick snapped back to reality and saw Rebecca waving at him from high up in the air.
Rebecca's smile was radiant, her expression triumphant, as if saying: Frederick, see, I'm fine. I didn't lie to you, did I?
His eyes amused, Frederick slightly turned his head.
His gaze froze slightly.
