Chapter 187 Tonight She Will Be Miserable
Ethan, “A few days? I have to contact her every single day, or she'll block me the next day!”
Benjamin and Peter chimed in one after another—whether they were joking or speaking seriously—telling him he needed to learn how to read between the lines.
But look at him now. Four days had passed, and he hadn't received a single message, not even a punctuation mark.
What was even more irritating was that she still remembered to call Grandmother, reminding her to keep warm these days. She had even told told Alex to come visit him after the exam.
"Tell me,” Frederick said, “how exactly did you miss me? And when?"
Rebecca blinked at him earnestly, silently signaling I really did miss you. Frederick glanced at her before starting the car and driving toward the restaurant.
How did she miss him?
In her heart, of course - unless she could somehow miss him with her toes?
But clearly, that wasn't the answer he was looking for.
Rebecca blurted out, "In my heart, of course. When I woke up this morning, I wondered if you slept well last night. During meals, I wondered if you had eaten on time. At night, when going to bed..."
"So basically,” Frederick interrupted with a faint smile, “I’m just a doormat, and my phone exists purely for decoration?"
Meeting Frederick’s amused gaze, Rebecca spoke before her brain could catch up.
“You’re definitely not a doormat!"
Frederick paused.
Rebecca continued confidently, "If I call you, I'll hear your voice. If I video call you, I'll see you. And if we start texting, we won’t be able to stop chatting. Frederick, my self-control is terrible. During critical times like exams, I have to resist all temptations."
The car stopped at the crosswalk. Rebecca’s bright, sparkling eyes looked straight at him.
Even though Frederick knew she was lying, he couldn’t stay angry.
"You're way too good with words,” he said.
The accusation in Frederick’s expression softened noticeably. Hearing his praise, Rebecca secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
The sky gradually darkened.
As her stomach filled, Rebecca’s heartbeat began to quicken for no clear reason.
The Maybach sped toward Pinewood Mansion. Rebecca glanced at Frederick anxiously.
"Frederick, I need to go home tomorrow."
"alright. I'll take you."
"We haven't visited the old house in a while. We should go see Grandmother and Alex, shouldn’t we?"
"Yeah. Let’s go back this weekend."
Rebecca hesitated for a moment.
“…Frederick, you're not mad, are you?"
"Mad about what?"
The conversation fell silent.
And Rebecca's sharp intuition told her tonight was not going to be easy for her.
After all, this was the price for neglecting him for four days.
No matter what, Frederick definitely wasn’t going to let her off that easily.
The villa door closed with a sharp clang, and the car keys landed in the glass bowl in the entryway.
Rebecca turned to run, but Frederick's long arm wrapped around her and pulled her back into his embrace.
"Frederick, I was wrong!"
"Wrong about what?"
“For neglecting you."
"So you knew all along, hmm?"
His low voice brushed past her ear, his breath warm and tingling. Frederick’s voice turned husky. "Becca, knowingly breaking the rules makes it worse."
“I—I—"
She wanted to say she hadn’t done it on purpose, but she absolutely had. She had wanted to prove she had a temper too.
She also wanted to say she truly realized her mistake and begged him to let her go.
Then suddenly, an idea crossed her mind.
Tilting her head up, Rebecca kissed him lightly and said in a soft, sweet voice,
“Honey… I’m sorry."
The restraint in Frederick’s eyes shattered instantly. Rebecca had ignited the desire he’d been holding back.
His gentle kiss quickly turned fierce.
