Chapter 164 Men Need to Be Taught
Compared to before, Alexa was indeed much better.
However, the pain she'd experienced over the past two months, like a scene cut from a movie, had all been selectively forgotten by her.
The doctor said this was normal and suggested that Rebecca gently comfort her mom and wait until her condition improved and she returned to a normal mental state before telling her the truth.
Back in the hospital room, Rebecca's eyes turned red as she acted cute, "Dad just went on a business trip yesterday, and you're already missing him today? You haven't seen me for several days!"
"You're all grown up and still acting cute!"
Alexa hugged Rebecca and said gently, "Your dad and I were childhood sweethearts. After all these years, we're like each other's left and right hands. Becca, people can't live without their hands, right? So I can't be without your dad, and he feels the same way."
When mentioning her husband, Alexa's face was full of tenderness.
A moment later, thinking of something, Alexa looked Rebecca over and asked, "Becca, are you and Dennis doing okay?"
Remembering the doctor said Alexa's condition had finally improved and she absolutely couldn't be upset, Rebecca changed what she was about to say about calling off the engagement, "We broke up!"
"Broke up?"
Alexa immediately got anxious, "Becca, what happened? Did Dennis do something wrong to upset you? Or are you two just playing around?"
"Becca, call Dennis, I want to ask him myself!"
Seeing Alexa's face turn pale and her lips lose the rosy color they had when she first came in, Rebecca hurriedly grabbed her hands to calm her down, "Mom, didn't you just say I'm already grown up? I'll handle my own things, so please don't worry about it!"
Looking at Rebecca's condition, good complexion, and her mood didn't seem too bad either.
Even though she was talking about breaking up, it was probably just a lovers' quarrel.
Alexa's agitation gradually calmed down.
This kind of thing had happened before. In a few days, Dennis would buy a gift, apologize, sweet-talk her a bit, and they'd be fine again.
She knew Becca wasn't an unreasonable or immature girl.
"Becca..."
Alexa patted Rebecca's hand and said gently, "Dennis is the fiancé your dad watched for so many years before finally deciding to choose for you."
"The Johnson family and the Getty family have been friends for decades, and Dennis's parents are easy to get along with, too. Dennis may be a bit impulsive, but young people all have their rash moments. When you fight, just talk it out in a few days, and you'll be fine. You two need to work things out, okay?"
In Empire City's wealthy circles, scandals were everywhere.
Either some family's man was keeping a mistress outside and had even fathered an illegitimate child.
Or some family's woman was caught on camera vacationing with her lover and got exposed.
Some even had open marriages, where husband and wife did their own thing, as long as both families' interests weren't hurt.
Alexa and her husband were a unique exception among the wealthy families.
It was precisely because of this that the couple had observed and considered for so many years before finally agreeing to the Johnson family's marriage proposal and arranging the engagement between Rebecca and Dennis.
"Whether they're 6 or 60, men always have their immature moments. Your dad had plenty of bad habits back then, too, and I straightened him out..."
Alexa smiled, looking at Rebecca lovingly, "Becca, men need to be trained. If you train Dennis well, he'll be a good husband in the future, okay?"
Rebecca sighed, "Mom, I got it!"
