Chapter 142 Try Moving Again
When Frederick came back, Isabella tactfully said she should get going.
Her car had already pulled out, but then it roared back in reverse. Isabella called out loudly, "Layla, that nutritional supplement—make sure Becca drinks it!"
Layla nodded with a smile, and the Ferrari roared off.
Rebecca shrank into Frederick's arms, not daring to lift her head.
As soon as Isabella spoke, she heard Frederick's muffled laughter.
This morning when he kissed her, she didn't even know how to breathe properly and nearly suffocated herself.
So much so that he asked with amusement how she could have forgotten even how to kiss.
How could she not know?
It was clearly because he was so fierce and intense, not giving her any chance to catch her breath!
If she had known, she should have just stayed in the living room earlier.
Rebecca's face turned bright red.
"Becca..."
Frederick's voice was full of amusement. Looking at Rebecca nestled in his arms, his gaze was tender. "Isabella left a while ago. How long are we going to stand here?"
The body in his arms stiffened. Rebecca broke free, turned, and went into the villa, quickly heading upstairs.
After dinner, the doctor came.
After a thorough examination, the doctor looked at Frederick, who had been watching him intently. "Mrs. Windsor is fine now. But she did catch a chill, so she still needs to rest well these next few days."
"Thank you!"
Frederick nodded.
After seeing the doctor out and calling Elizabeth and Alex, who had been worried about her, Frederick returned to the bedroom to find Rebecca already washed up and lying in bed.
Looking like she was dutifully following the doctor's orders to eat well and sleep well.
The corner of his lips curved up as Frederick got his pajamas and went into the bathroom.
Thinking that once the lights were off she could fall asleep immediately, like the past few days, sleeping soundly until morning.
But Rebecca was wrong.
After sleeping for several days straight, she now had no sleepiness at all.
Next to her, the breathing was steady and long—Frederick seemed to be asleep.
Rebecca carefully moved his arm from her waist and turned over.
In the darkness, Frederick opened his eyes.
He knew better than anyone what Rebecca looked like when she was asleep.
He had gotten used to her clinging to him like an octopus or nestling obediently in his arms. But now, even though she had only moved a small distance away, it felt particularly uncomfortable.
"Becca..."
As soon as Frederick spoke, Rebecca's hand holding her phone froze.
Slowly pulling her hand back, Rebecca said quietly, "You're not asleep?"
"I was, but you woke me up."
Rebecca slowly turned around. "Sorry, I... I can't sleep." He couldn't see Rebecca's face clearly, but as she spoke, a faint fragrance came and went.
Like the scent of her body wash.
Or like the milk she drank before bed.
But in Frederick's mind, all he could think of was that sweet and tangy blueberry flavor.
Before she could finish speaking, Frederick leaned down and kissed her.
Sure enough, Frederick transformed at night.
No matter how gentle he was during the day, at night he became as fierce as could be.
Still remembering his laughter from this morning, Rebecca responded to his kiss with her mind going blank, while making small gasping sounds to catch her breath.
His hot palm slipped under the hem of her nightgown, and when he grasped the soft flesh at her waist, Rebecca opened her eyes, her body stiffening for a moment.
His breathing hitched, and Frederick's kiss stopped.
After a long while, he slowly withdrew his hand.
Before his eyes was the image of her pale and weak from the high fever of the past few days, without an ounce of strength.
In his ears was the doctor saying she needed to rest well recently and not overexert herself.
Frederick tensed his body and loosely held Rebecca. "Let's sleep..."
"Okay."
Not knowing why he had stopped, Rebecca bit her lip and responded.
Something at her lower back was poking uncomfortably. Rebecca carefully shifted a bit.
Before she could even exhale, she felt something hot twitch.
In her ear came Frederick's voice through gritted teeth: "Try moving around again and see what happens."
