Chapter 139 You Are So Handsome
It turns out that talking too much can really drain your energy.
After reminiscing about her happy childhood and shedding some tears, Rebecca only remembered Frederick taking away the small tray table and holding her while comforting her, saying "Becca, you still have me."
She looked at the bright daylight outside the window.
Then at the white ceiling above her head.
Realizing she had fallen asleep again, Rebecca fell silent.
Frederick wasn't beside her—he must have gone to the office.
Rebecca slowly sat up, stayed sitting for a while before getting out of bed, remembering to learn from yesterday's lesson as she stood up.
She walked a few steps while holding onto the wall, then let go.
With good food and sleep, that dizzy feeling was gone.
Her arms and legs weren't weak anymore either.
Humming a tune, Rebecca took a shower and walked out of the bedroom feeling refreshed.
As she turned to go downstairs, she heard sounds from the study next door.
Rebecca tiptoed over.
Peeking inside, she saw Frederick sitting behind his desk, looking at his computer with a serious expression.
Maybe it was because he was sitting by the window with sunlight falling on him.
Or maybe it was simply because he was good-looking.
In his white shirt, Frederick looked especially tall and handsome in the warm sunlight.
Anyway, he was very easy on the eyes.
Rebecca had just peeked around the corner when Frederick spotted her.
Before he could say anything, Rebecca said with bright eyes, "Frederick, you look so handsome!"
Frederick froze for a moment but didn't respond right away.
Rebecca was stunned.
Did she say something wrong?
What kind of reaction was that?
Before Rebecca could ask what was wrong, she saw a faint smile cross Frederick's lips. He looked back at his computer and said, "Take a ten-minute break and then continue!"
With that, Frederick closed his laptop.
So he was in a meeting just now?
Her eyes slid over the tiny earpiece in Frederick's ear. Belatedly realizing he had been in a meeting, and thinking back to her fangirl exclamation, Rebecca felt extremely embarrassed.
"Frederick, I... I didn't mean to. I didn't know you were in a meeting."
Full of guilt, thinking about how behind countless computer screens, all those Windsor Group executives must be laughing—laughing that Frederick married a fangirl who couldn't even pick the right moment to speak—Rebecca couldn't stop feeling annoyed with herself.
"Silly girl..."
Frederick walked over, touched Rebecca's forehead, and said with a soft laugh, "You were complimenting me on being handsome. What's there to apologize for?... Are you saying you shouldn't compliment me? Or that I being handsome isn't a fact?"
There wasn't a trace of blame on Frederick's face. Instead, there was a faint smile in his eyes, showing he was in a good mood.
Rebecca let out a quiet sigh of relief and pushed him away, looking embarrassed. "Then you should go back to work. I promise I won't come bother you again until you come find me!"
As she turned to leave and her feet started moving, Frederick pulled her back into his arms. "I want to find you now."
"What's wrong?"
The moment Rebecca spoke, Frederick lowered his head and kissed her. "Mrs. Windsor, good morning!"
In the morning light, Frederick's eyes were tender.
His handsome face had lost its usual coldness, showing a gentle, domestic warmth.
The kiss was indescribably soft, nothing like the fierce ones at night.
Gripping his shirt with both hands, Rebecca gasped for breath, feeling like she was about to suffocate.
The next moment, Frederick released her with a smile. "Didn't you already learn? Did you forget so quickly?"
Learn what?
Forget what?
Rebecca felt like those few days of fever had fried her brain—she couldn't think straight.
Meeting Frederick's smiling eyes, she realized what he meant, and Rebecca's face instantly heated up.
