Chapter 125 She Is Just a Fool

Chapter 125 She Is Just a Fool

The young woman in her off-shoulder bodycon dress was stunning like a celebrity, making people feel inferior at first glance.

Thinking back to how pleased she was with herself standing in front of the mirror after doing her makeup just moments ago, Jessica felt an urge to hide.

The woman at the door looked her up and down, then lifted her chin slightly, "Come in..."

With that, she turned and walked inside on her own, "Mr. Johnson, your lover is here..."

"This early?"

"What time is it, Mr. Johnson? Isn't this a bit much?"

"Where is she? Hurry up and let us take a look!"

Hearing the noisy chatter from inside the room, Jessica suddenly felt relieved.

As she walked forward, her whole body was tense with awkwardness.

The living room fell silent.

A group of men and women looked at Jessica, then at Dennis, and said nothing.

Dennis, sitting in the middle of the sofa with a cigarette in his mouth, shaking dice, glanced back and waved his hand, "Go play in the bedroom by yourself."

He had no intention of introducing her to his friends.

Nor did he mean for her to meet those friends of his.

The embarrassment she felt when being scrutinized at the door welled up from her heart again. Jessica lowered her head and rushed into the master bedroom in a panic.

After closing the door, all the noise from outside disappeared.

Her rapidly beating heart gradually calmed down, and Jessica's tears of grievance almost fell.

Looking up again, she saw the white gift box on the small table by the floor-to-ceiling window.

Thinking that it was a gift from Dennis, Jessica's mood improved a bit.

She took off her down jacket and hung it up, then went to sit on the sofa and picked up the box.

The moment she opened it, all color drained from her face.

She had clearly chosen white, so why was there a black one in the box?

Inappropriately, she thought of Rebecca's closet, of those bags that were mostly black at first glance. Jessica's nails scraped against the hard packaging box with a scratching sound.

Right, Rebecca liked black.

She was the one who didn't know her place, thinking Dennis really wanted to give her a gift, so she foolishly chose white.

But in reality?

The person Dennis wanted to give it to was Rebecca, wasn't it?

She was such an idiot!

Throwing the bag back into the box and returning it to its place, Jessica stood up with a pale face and headed for the door.

Just as her hand gripped the doorknob, the room suddenly brightened.

Turning around, she saw the twinkling lights outside the floor-to-ceiling window.

Jessica walked over in a daze.

Across the street was Empire City's landmark building, its rooftop billboard lit up, illuminating the entire room.

On the road, cars with flashing lights looked as tiny as glowing ants, flowing endlessly back and forth.

Several main city roads converged together, like constellations in the night sky.

At a glance, all of Empire City was within sight.

The night view was breathtakingly beautiful.

If not for Rebecca, she wouldn't have been able to connect with Dennis.

If not for Dennis, she wouldn't be able to see this night view right now.

And with her abilities and connections, she would never have any relationship with anyone from Empire City's elite circles in her entire life.

Her nails dug into her palms without her noticing. Jessica stood by the window for a very long time.

The door lock made a soft buzzing sound. Jessica turned around and saw Dennis walking in with a deeply furrowed brow.

Seeing her, Dennis froze, as if only just remembering she was there.

Jessica pretended not to notice and walked forward with a smile, looking shy, "Mr. Johnson, thank you for the gift. I really like it!"

The room lights were off, with only a floor lamp in the corner casting a faint glow.

The light from outside the window was actually brighter.

In the interplay of light and shadow, the slender girl standing backlit by the window looked exactly like Rebecca at first glance.

"Glad you like it."

Dennis nodded and walked straight forward, pulling her into his arms.

The smell of tobacco mixed with the sharp scent of alcohol, Dennis kissed Jessica roughly, his hands sliding under the hem of her sweater.

The bed was just a few steps away, but Dennis seemed unable to wait, pressing Jessica down onto the carpet by the floor-to-ceiling window, "Becca, Becca..."
