Chapter 111 I Advise You to Stop Early
Frederick had no idea what Isabella had said to Rebecca, but Rebecca was acting really strange right now.
That bright, bold, and willful Rebecca seemed scared by him. As if worried she wasn't doing something right, she had pitifully tucked away her sparkling self and hidden in a dark corner.
"Becca..."
Frederick stepped forward and ruffled her hair.
His palm slid down to cup her face. "You're perfect just the way you are. Don't change!"
"Really?"
"Really!"
Her racing heartbeat gradually settled back to normal. Rebecca let out a soft sigh of relief, her shoulders visibly relaxing.
Frederick took her hand. "Hungry? Want to grab some lunch?"
"Yes!"
Rebecca nodded decisively.
Rather than coming here to race, she'd really come to avoid Frederick.
She hadn't expected Frederick to come looking for her.
Even more unexpected—he actually approved of her current part-time job situation.
With both body and mind relaxed, Rebecca suddenly felt hungry.
After changing clothes in the locker room, Rebecca forcefully dragged Isabella along. "Didn't you say you wanted Mr. Windsor to treat you to a fancy meal? Here's your chance!"
Isabella fell silent.
Rolling her eyes so hard internally that they nearly reached the sky, Isabella jabbed Rebecca hard in the back with her finger.
The Maybach drove straight toward the resort in the suburbs.
From a distance, they could see the resort perched on the mountaintop. White steam from the hot springs rose in billowing clouds, shrouding the entire mountain in a layer of white mist—hazy and atmospheric.
Already planning a wonderful evening of soaking in hot springs and chatting about life, Rebecca coaxed and wheedled Isabella by the arm.
The three of them had barely entered the private room.
When someone knocked on the door.
The person outside entered without waiting for an invitation. "What a coincidence!"
Peter in front, Benjamin behind.
"Yesterday, Rebecca turned things around and won back all the money you lost to us. Let's go again today! But let me say this upfront—Rebecca can't play!"
Only after finishing did he notice Isabella beside Rebecca. Peter's eyes flickered slightly as he greeted her with a smile. "Rebecca..."
"Mr. Green!"
Isabella nodded.
They took their seats one after another. Once the dishes were served, they ate while chatting and laughing.
Frederick mentioned he'd given Isabella that piece of land Benjamin had been eyeing for so long, to expand her racing venue.
Benjamin perked up. "Rebecca likes racing? Got any racing records?"
Isabella shook her head. "Just messing around."
After finishing the meal, Ethan arrived too.
The men went upstairs to play cards while Rebecca dragged Isabella off for a spa treatment.
Peter played a card and glanced at Benjamin across from him. "If you like racing and want something to talk about, go ahead. But if you've got any ideas about Isabella, I'd advise you to drop them right now!"
"What's that supposed to mean?"
Benjamin's expression was neutral.
Peter looked back at Frederick. "Frederick, I'm just stating facts here. That doesn't count as badmouthing Isabella, does it?"
Frederick remained noncommittal, then turned to Benjamin. "Whether it's her identity as a Taylor family young lady or as Becca's best friend—either way, you need to stay away from her!"
Somehow, hearing an undertone of being looked down upon—and he was the one being looked down on at that.
Benjamin slapped down a card with obvious displeasure. "What's the deal?"
