Chapter 110 If You Really Fall in Love with Mr. Windsor
He was attracted to her youth and beauty, and the fact that he had leverage over her.
As for her, she valued his high position and power that she could rely on.
As for when Alex's mom would come back, or when Frederick planned to divorce her - those were all future matters.
The future meant uncertainty, so why should she worry about it?
Seizing the present was what mattered.
Thinking this way, Rebecca still felt a bit down.
This Rebecca who could be sad one moment and happy the next, showing such lively emotions - Isabella hadn't seen her like this in a long time. She looked her up and down for a while, then poked her with her hand, "Becca, if you've really fallen for Mr. Windsor..."
"I told you I haven't, why won't you believe me?"
Rebecca stamped her foot in frustration.
Isabella nodded with a suppressed smile, "Okay, okay. What I mean is, Mr. Windsor's ex - she even abandoned their child, so clearly there's no chance between them. As long as Mr. Windsor has any sense at all, he'll know who to cherish. So your chances are pretty good!"
Rebecca looked up.
Isabella continued, "Even if you're just a regular working person now, workers can get promoted and raise, right? Going from employee to supervisor, from supervisor to manager - it's not impossible, right?"
"So..."
Rebecca blinked, seeming to understand.
"So, if you're a bit more dedicated, work a bit harder..."
Isabella clenched her fist, "Work hard until one day in the future, when you're the only one in Mr. Windsor's eyes - won't that be success?"
What Izzy said made so much sense!
Rebecca nodded, "Okay, I'll try!"
But then, the question was - which direction should she work toward?
"Izzy, I..."
Looking at Isabella with a humble expression, ready to ask for advice, Rebecca hadn't even gotten out "what should I do" when she saw Isabella's eyes light up, nodding toward the distance, "Look, who's here?"
Rebecca turned around and saw Frederick walking toward them from afar.
In the morning parking lot, everything was cast in dark tones.
The man walking slowly toward them in a black coat looked like a male model on a runway.
Her face flushed instantly, and Rebecca's mind filled with scenes from that morning.
Remembering she had just said she would work harder and be more dedicated, Rebecca took several deep breaths, put on a bright smile, and went up to meet him. "Honey, what brings you here?"
A flash of surprise crossed Frederick's eyes as he instinctively glanced at Isabella.
He saw her acting like she deserved credit for this, waving her hand and scurrying away.
Since Rebecca didn't mention it, Frederick pretended not to know about her sulking and bad mood, looking at the white racing suit she wore and asking, "Skipping meals to come to the track - do you really love racing that much?"
"I'm not hungry."
Rebecca smiled, "If I eat first and then come, what if I throw up again like yesterday? How embarrassing would that be?"
The track was vast and empty. In the distance was the thunderous sound of engines; nearby was Frederick with his tall figure and focused expression.
Rebecca boldly asked, "Frederick, what kind of me do you like?"
Frederick froze.
Rebecca's face reddened.
Feeling like that question sounded like she was fishing for compliments, Rebecca changed her approach, "I mean, what kind of me do you not like? I can change!"
As soon as the words left her mouth, Rebecca herself was stunned.
Dennis had complained that she was too dramatic and told her to be more obedient. Her response had been: This is who I am, I can't change! And if I changed, I wouldn't be me anymore!
Because of this, they'd had cold wars, arguments, and then been coaxed into making up by friends in their circle.
Next time, same process all over again.
But Frederick hadn't done anything. He hadn't even frowned and said, "Rebecca, I don't like you this way."
Staring blankly at Frederick, as if looking through his deep eyes to see herself reflected in them.
A flash of panic crossed Rebecca's heart.
Frederick's palm landed on top of her head.
