CHAPTER 48
CHAPTER 48
They were both breathless when he pulled away from their kiss first and stared into her eyes. His eyes were steady and didn’t give off what he was thinking. Sara’s skin tingled in anticipation of what his next move would be. He was a believer in the unexpected and seemed to derive joy from catching her off guard. He took two steps towards her, and she panicked, moving back until her back hit the car. She looked up and gasped at how close his face was.
She took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart.
He closed the little space between them, and Sara gasped when his erection pressed against her. She bit back a moan when his teeth grazed her neck and shut her eyes.Sara shrieked when she felt his hands on her legs and wondered what he was up to. He ignored her protests and swooped her up in one swift movement. Her heartbeat picked up speed as her body left the ground.
The anticipation of what was to come and the fear of what kind of punishment he had in mind were eating at her, and she clung to him as he walked into the house, her eyes wide open. When he didn’t stop in the living room, her heart stopped in her chest. Going to the bedroom could mean so many things she didn’t even want to think about. She was tempted to ask him what his plan was, but she didn’t dare speak. As he took the stairs one at a time, her heart beat in line with his footsteps.
She made a noise in the back of her throat when he walked past her room; her heart was beating really fast by now. He was eerily silent, and she was panicking on the inside. His silence was hardly ever a good thing for her, at least. He opened the door after adjusting her in his arms, and she took a deep breath, her heart beating at an unsteady pace. He walked into the room and shut the door with his legs, the sound adding fuel to her racing heart. When he placed her on the bed, Sara waited, watching his every move. Would he continue their make-out session? Would he drag it out into a punishment? Would they have sex?
At the last thought, her grip on the bedsheets tightened as she kept slamming against her rib cage. He took the chair opposite the bed and stared at her. Sara was fidgeting badly at this juncture. Was he going to stare at her all night or was he going to do more?
He was still not saying anything, and his silence was killing her. She took a deep breath and looked down at her now sweaty palms. Rubbing them together, she opened her mouth, finally finding her voice. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
He was quiet for a few more minutes, and Sara wondered if he wasn’t going to reply to her. He sat up, and his eyes landed her again. “Why did you try to escape tonight, Sara? Why did you try to leave me?” The unexpected question caught her off guard, and she squirmed in her seat, unsure of how to reply to him. A sense of dread filled her, and her brain went into autodrive. The fact that he had asked that question so out of the blue didn’t sit well with her.
He laughed, surprising her, and she shivered. The sound was normal, but the timing had her worried. His next words took her completely off guard. “You thought you could actually get away from me? You don’t have it in you. I give you an A for effort though.” He teased, and Sara wondered if he was actually mocking her. “I won’t let you get away so easily, and I don’t care if I have to chain you to the bed every night just so you don’t try to act smart.”
Sara felt her heart stop at that, and her pussycat clenched at his words. Disgusted at her sudden arousal, shame washed over her. She had known the moment she leaned over his lifeless boy that she had messed up. Running away had been a wrong move. She should never have been so impulsive in the first place. After everything with Elijah and then her little moment with Adrain in the empy park, the reality of what her life had become came crashing down on her, hard, and her brain stopped.
Could she really get away from Adrain? Did she have the strength for the outcome if she did succeed? Adrain had been in danger because of her stupid decision, and for that she’d never forgive herself. “You can’t get away from me, Sara; don’t ever pull that stunt you pulled tonight.” He said in a cool voice and rose to his feet. He started pacing, and her heart started beating in sync with his movement.
He walked to the wardrobe after that, and she sighed, shutting her eyes for a brief moment. Once she heard him approaching again, her eyes fell open and widened when she took in the object he had in his hand.“What are you going to do with that?” she asked, moving back in his bed, but he was faster. He pounced on her, and she froze as he captured her hands, cuffing them to the bed one at a time.
“Have you lost your mind?” He perhaps hit his head a little too hard back at the cliff. She trashed ordering him to get the handcuffs off. “Adrain, what is the meaning of this?” He grinned as he caught her eyes, and she glared at him. He looked proud of his actions as if he had done the right thing. Was there really a need to chain her to the bed like this? How was she supposed to sleep? “This is just a small gift for you, Sara. It will help you think twice just so you don’t think of escaping and leaving me again.”
He sounded angry, and Sara tugged at her hands, wincing, when the iron cut into her flesh. He snorted at her actions and shook his head.
“Imagine if my father found out the real reason why we had to be rescued from the bottom of the cliff tonight. What would he have done to you?” “But he didn’t.” Sara shivered and shook her head, refusing to let him get inside her head. “Get these cuffs off me, Adrain.”
“This is the only way to ensure you don’t wake up tomorrow and think you can run away again. At least I won’t get up and not find you beside me in the morning.” He shook his head and sighed, walking towards the door. Sara gritted her teeth at his nonchalance and was tempted to kick him, but any forceful movement she made would affect her even more. ‘Damn you, Adrain!’ she yelled at him in her mind, and he chuckled as if he had heard her. “Rest well, sleep
ing beauty.”
