Chapter 17 Dinner

Leon carried me to the soft bed and leaned over to kiss my forehead.

“I’ll have the chef prepare a feast for you,” he said. Exhausted, I lay on the pillow and breathed slowly. I could hardly keep my eyes open due to fatigue. I would rather sleep than eat. As I was about to drift off, I heard the sound of the maid’s footsteps and the pouring of water into the bathtub.

Leon whispered in my ear, “Baby, it’s time to get up. You need a bath.”

I pretended to be asleep, hoping he would leave me alone. But instead, he chuckled and picked me up, carrying me to the bathtub.

After the maids had left the room, I opened my eyes to find myself in a steaming bathtub.

Leon had joined me, sitting behind me with his feet in the water. He held me close, allowing me to lean against his chest, and the water level was just at the height of my breasts. Leon took a piece of soap and lathered it up in his palm. He slowly slid his soapy hands down my neck, massaging my shoulders with firm yet gentle strokes.

“This feels so good,” I whispered, lifting my head up. “Bathing is good for your health,” Leon replied, biting my earlobe and whispering, “Baby, you look so beautiful in the water.”

As I felt something hard against my ass, I quickly turned to face Leon and moved away slightly, deliberately keeping my distance from him.

“Let’s just focus on taking a shower, don’t think too much about me,” I said, gently stroking the surface of the water. Leon didn’t have time to react and ended up getting splashed with water droplets on his face.

“You’re being naughty again!” he said, pretending to be angry as he looked at me. He then grabbed my wrist and turned me back around to face away from him.

“You’re mine, and I won’t let you leave me,” he said, his head hanging over my shoulder as he spoke in a low, sad tone.

“You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting for you. I knew you existed, but I couldn’t find any trace of you.” “How did you know I existed?” I asked softly, sensing his sadness through my wolf and letting out a sigh.

“In my dreams! So many times, I tried to reach out and hold your hand, but I always failed. I watched as you disappeared into the night, and I thought I would never see you again,” Leon said, his chin resting on my shoulder as he leaned in to caress my cheek.

It felt like we had known each other for a long time, and there were so many stories hidden in his heart that I wanted to know. But I couldn’t find the courage to ask him about them.

I held Leon’s hand tightly, hoping to give him more support and strength. “The water is getting cold. The chef should have finished roasting the sheep by now. Let’s go to the restaurant,” Leon said, breaking the moment.

As soon as I heard the roast sheep, I quickly got out of the bathtub and dried myself off with a towel. The maids had prepared a yellow dress for me, and I joined Leon in the restaurant wearing it.

A whole roast sheep was still steaming on the dining table, and the tableware had been neatly arranged. The candlelight flickered, creating a romantic atmosphere. It was the first time I had ever dined with a man by candlelight, as Jack had never taken me to a restaurant for a romantic dinner before.

Leon sat next to me and cut the roasted mutton piece by piece from the grill with a knife, placing it on my plate. I took a bite and savored the tender meat with its special burnt flavor.

“Chef Bauer’s specialty is roast lamb and venison. You should try the venison next time,” Leon said, placing an even better piece of mutton on my plate.

It seemed like I was the only one eating, as Leon only cut the roast mutton for me and barely touched any of the other dishes.

Wasn’t he hungry? He was a man with such strong physical strength. Once I was full, I would go straight to bed. But I knew better than to sleep with Leon. He seemed to want to feed off my strength even more.

“Don’t worry about me, I’m really strong. But I’ll also consider my mate’s feelings,” Leon said, his mouth turning up as he looked at me deeply with his purple eyes. “From tonight on, you can only sleep in the same bed as me. I’ll let you sleep peacefully tonight, don’t worry, baby!”

“You’re really generous, my prince!” I said, glancing at him and taking another bite of the mutton on my fork.

At that moment, a maid stood outside the door and knocked on the box carefully with her hand. When she saw Leon turn to look at her, she whispered, “Captain Mark requests to see you. It’s an emergency report, my prince.”

“Let him in,” Leon said calmly, wiping the oil stains from his mouth with a red napkin. As soon as he finished, Mark entered the room with a rectangular wooden box in his hand.

He saluted Leon and said, “We found Helen, the cook, at her nephew’s house. She was dead, and I think she was poisoned. Her nephew is missing.”

“Go on,” Leon said, his expression serious.

“We found the slave mark of the Black Wolf on Helen’s arm! She was a friend of darkness!” Mark continued, and Leon’s expression froze.

I silently put down my utensils and tried not to make any noise. My intuition told me that something bad was about to happen. What was a slave of the Black Wolf? And why did they poison me?

I never heard my parents mention anything about the black wolf. But I know that the black wolf is unknown in the pack.
