Chapter 90 — Decision for Berli?
"Why are you so good? I mean, she and her lover have done wrong, they've destroyed Petra's life and nearly ruined your future," Liza said from the dishwashing area.
Lyyana shook her head, "My parents always said that we shouldn't respond to wrongdoing with the same. " Her five friends sighed; they couldn't understand why Lyyana was so kind to someone who had wronged her.
Days passed, and Petra's and Lyyana's lives went on as usual. Garret also began to show increasingly positive developments. A few days ago, Petra began discussing Garret's early education, which he would undertake when he turned 5.
Unlike Berli, who was still anxious about Renaldi and Jessica's arrest. Berli's anxiety worsened when she received a summons from the police office to come as a witness to the recent arrest of Jessica and Renadli.
On the day of the examination, accompanied by Denzel to the police station, Berli remained silent throughout the journey. She didn't utter a word as they were both lost in their thoughts. Denzel let Berli calm herself, only holding her hand and rubbing her back.
At exactly 1 PM, Denzel's car stopped among the row of others. After turning off the engine, Denzel got out first, then circled around the car to open the door for Berli and help her out. They walked side by side towards the police station lobby. Upon arrival, the lawyer hired by Berli's foster parents was waiting for her; he greeted her with a friendly smile.
"I'm Richard and Thomas. We're the attorneys who will accompany you through this case." Berli responded with a shy smile.
"Don't worry; you just need to answer the questions truthfully and according to reality. We'll do our best," Thomas reassured Berli with his words.
Accompanied by her lawyer and Denzel, Berli stepped into the interrogation room. Berli entered the interrogation room with Richard. She stayed in the room for quite a while; at least around 100 questions were thrown at her by the investigators. Luckily, Berli was able to answer all the questions easily without any problems.
Berli felt a little calmer after telling the truth to the investigators, although she didn't hope to escape punishment, at least she no longer harbored secrets that disturbed her sleep all day long.
As Berli exited the interrogation room, she saw Lyyana and Petra coming together with three lawyers. Berli bowed her head in embarrassment seeing Lyyana's continuous smile. "Hey, are you done just now?" Lyyana asked kindly.
Berli nodded, "Are you going to be questioned too?"
Lyyana shook her head, "I'm just accompanying Petra."
Berli nodded, sitting next to Lyyana who was waiting for Petra in the interrogation room with the male lawyer. Berli looked restless; she repeatedly touched her stomach and covered her mouth. Seeing Berli's strange movements, Lyyana asked her, "Are you okay?"
"Lately, I've been feeling nauseous and weak, Lyyana."
"Have you seen a doctor?" Berli shook her head in response to Lyyana's question. "After this, you should get yourself checked." Berli nodded, Denzel overheard Lyyana and Berli's conversation, so he approached Berli and hugged her shoulders.
"Darling, what's wrong with you?" Berli shook her head and rubbed Denzel's hand on her shoulder.
Similar to Berli, Petra also spent about an hour answering the same amount of questions as Berli. When Petra came out of the interrogation room, the man immediately rushed to Lyyana and hugged her tightly. Lyyana rubbed Petra's back and patted him gently.
"Everything will be fine," Lyyana said as she hugged Petra.
After calming down a bit, Petra released his embrace and looked deeply into Lyyana's eyes. They bid farewell and headed to their respective cars, escorted by a police officer and his assistant. "Sir, when will the trial begin?" Petra's lawyer asked.
"The first hearing will be held four days from today, Sir," replied the police officer who escorted them to the police station lobby.
"Very well, I hope everything goes as I expect and, certainly, in accordance with the applicable law," the lawyer politely responded. The police officer nodded with a friendly smile.
Upon reaching the parking lot, Denzel bid farewell to Petra and Lyyana. Berli had already entered the car; she was really feeling unwell, her body not as strong as before. "Take care on the road. Hopefully, Berli will be fine," Lyyana said because Petra remained silent and didn't respond to Denzel's words.
Petra quickly got into his car and drove off to his private residence. Days passed so quickly, everything was happening beyond Lyyana's control. All the questions in her life were gradually being answered, revealing their truths. Daniel had been sentenced to life imprisonment for his involvement in human trafficking.
Petra's and Lyyana's lives were now much better than before. Petra resumed his activities as a businessman, working on a project with Robert. Similarly, Berli's life started to improve. Her anxiety slowly faded, and she was preparing for her wedding with Denzel, which would take place after the verdict tomorrow.
Berli and Denzel were living their lives well. Their bedroom activities gradually decreased, as Berli was now pregnant. Denzel also had to reduce his bedroom activities to keep the pregnancy healthy.
Denzel also began actively managing his father's company in the city, forging partnerships with other entrepreneurs. Like this morning, Berli was preparing breakfast with her foster mother. She packed food for Denzel because, according to him, Berli's cooking was much tastier than the food in expensive restaurants.
After dropping Denzel off at the front door, Denzel went back inside the house and resumed his knitting activity. He began to indulge in his hobby, which had been dormant due to the demands of life that required significant expenses. Berli's days passed with sincerity; she had resigned herself to whatever the outcome of the trial would be the next morning.

Exactly on the fourth day since her interrogation yesterday, today Berli, Denzel, Lyyana, and Petra were getting ready to attend the first hearing for Renaldi's murder case. At Petra's residence, she was ready in a sky blue midi dress, applying natural makeup strokes to her face and letting her long hair flow beautifully. After getting ready, Lyyana immediately approached Garret's room to check if her ward was awake.
"Mama? Are we going out again today?" asked Garret, who was sitting on the bed with Chala and Adelia.
Lyyana nodded, sitting on the edge of the bed and gazing at Garret tenderly. Her slender fingers stroked Garret's head as she said, "Just for a while. Mama and papa promise to come back soon. Would it be okay if Garret stayed at home for a bit?"
