Chapter 86 — The truth will find its way
"Neither am I; I've had many women by my side. Let's leave that as our past story; it's better to think and imagine our future together. I'm sure Petra won't imprison you," Denzel reassured Berli, who was leaning against him.
Lost in the romantic atmosphere they created, Denzel turned Berli around to face him. He cupped Berli's face and kissed her tenderly, his hands exploring her entire body.
The sounds of their kisses and sighs filled the empty house, not yet fully occupied. In one swift motion, Denzel carried Berli in his arms like holding a koala. He ascended the stairs, carrying her towards the master bedroom they would inhabit after getting married.
Moans and sighs began to fill their bedroom, their bedroom activities successfully distracting Berli from her worries about Petra's family's death. Their synchronized movements ended with Berli and Denzel's long moans.
Elsewhere, Lyyana and Petra were discussing with their family lawyer. "In my opinion, Berli might get implicated, but his punishment won't be as severe as Renaldi and Jessica's because they're the masterminds behind this murder. Even though Berli isn't the mastermind, he still executed the murder."
"How can we ensure Berli doesn't get entangled?" Lyyana asked, sitting next to Petra.
"It seems there's no way, we can only mitigate it. Even then, it has to go through a trial and very strong evidence."
Lyyana sighed, then remained silent, listening to Petra and her lawyer's conversation. They suggested making copies of the evidence just in case Renaldi tries to tamper with it later. "We all know how cunning Renaldi and Jessica are, so we still have to consider the second option. Besides, we also need to ensure that the police are indeed on the right side."
Petra nodded, then made copies of the evidence and handed them over to her lawyer to be promptly submitted to the local police station. "We have to report this quickly before the case gets closed due to exceeding the time limit."
The lengthy discussion enlightened Petra about what she should do while waiting for the legal process to unfold. After escorting her lawyer to the porch, Petra and Lyyana went inside. "Rest, you look tired," Lyyana said, rubbing Petra's shoulder.
Petra nodded, heading to her bedroom before leaving Lyyana in the living room. Petra briefly kissed Lyyana's forehead and hugged her. Lyyana smiled and watched Petra's back as she moved away.
Lyyana sighed and headed to the kitchen, preparing lunch for her family. "Lyyana, I can't believe what I heard earlier," Amber said suddenly, appearing behind Lyyana as she put on her apron.
Lyyana turned and smiled. "Lyyana, why are you so calm?" Chala asked with a furrowed brow.
"What should I do, Chala?"
"Aren't you angry? I mean, they're both very cunning and dangerous. They might fabricate stories to gain your sympathy," Chala guessed, nodded along by everyone else.
"Honestly, whether it's true or not is between them and God. Let the law handle it as it should," Lyyana replied calmly and composedly, her slender fingers preparing spices and ingredients.
"What if he manipulates the law? He's a powerful person," Mila, who had been silent until now, said.
Lyyana sighed and smiled. "The truth will find its way." Lyyana then walked to the stove and began cooking her dish.
As Lyyana was busy cooking with her friends, suddenly the doorbell rang. Amber tapped Lyyana's shoulder, indicating that she would open the door herself. Lyyana nodded, and shortly after Amber left, Lyyana suddenly heard Garret's shout from upstairs.
"Aunt Laura‼!" Garret yelled as he walked alongside Adelia.
Lyyana turned, a smile spreading across her face as she saw Laura embracing Garret. "Hi Lyyana," Olive greeted, coming in with Laura.
Lyyana smiled, tapping Mila's shoulder, asking for help with her cooking. She took off her apron and walked over to Laura and Olive. "Hi, Aunt," Lyyana replied, giving Olive a brief hug.
"Where's Petra?" Olive asked Lyyana. "I saw her car parked outside, is she okay?"
Lyyana nodded, "She's fine. Just resting in her room."
Olive nodded, then turned to look at Amber, who arrived with two cold drinks. "Thank you," she replied warmly.
"Our visit here, I wanted to inform you that we've found a house nearby and a school for Laura. So starting Monday, Laura can go to school there." Lyyana smiled happily.
"Thank you, Aunt, sorry for the trouble we caused you and Uncle."
Olive looked at Lyyana with a pout. "What are you saying, Lyyana? You're our only family. Your presence makes our lives more colorful." Lyyana hugged Olive from the side.
They played together with Garret while waiting for lunchtime. Garret looked very happy playing with Laura, feeling like he met a new sibling. Laura was also delighted because her dream of having a new sibling could come true.
Before they knew it, lunchtime had arrived. Amber approached Lyyana and informed her that lunch was ready. Lyyana nodded, bidding farewell to Olive to call Petra to join them. Lyyana's footsteps ascended the stairs as she headed to Petra's room.
Lyyana knocked on the bedroom door and pushed it open gently. She saw Petra sitting on the balcony, staring straight ahead. "Petra?" Lyyana called, walking towards Petra and patting his shoulder.
Petra looked up, holding Lyyana's hand on his shoulder. He gently caressed and kissed the back of Lyyana's hand. "Lunch first?" Lyyana offered with a smile.
Petra shook his head weakly, "Petra, you have to eat. How can you face this problem if you don't eat? What if you get sick? What about me and Garret?" Lyyana persuaded.
Petra gently pulled Lyyana's hand until she sat on his lap, embracing her softly. "I'm afraid I'll fail to catch Renaldi."
"Everything will have its answers, we'll leave it all to the authorities. The truth will find its way," Lyyana reassured Petra.
Petra gazed deeply into Lyyana's eyes, the serene depths of Lyyana's eyes captivating her until she tenderly kissed Lyyana, a kiss without demands. Not long after, Petra released her kiss, looking at Lyyana with soft eyes, though there was a hint of resignation there. "I'm sorry I couldn't resist that one," she said, embracing Lyyana.
