Chapter 34 Chapter 0034
•KAILA•

"I have made arrangements with the school chancellor for you to be granted a two-week break," my mother informed me over the phone, and I gasped, sitting on the edge of my bed. "Mike will be there to pick you up tomorrow morning."

"What?" I gasped. "Why now? Why are you trying to ruin my life after everything I have done for you and Dad?"

"Instead of complaining, you should be packing your bags because your father and I have made the decision," she answered. "Dominic’s father will be here tomorrow as well."

"Great," I muttered, my voice low. "You and Dad will finally have things your way with me. I agreed to this whole plan because I didn't want to lose my money, but I can't believe you're trying to make my entire life about him."

"Your entire life will be over if Dominic isn't engaged to you before the end of next month," she replied. "His father has made it clear that he won't push too hard if his son refuses the engagement."

"I thought Dominic’s father threatened him if he didn't want to be with me," I scoffed. "I don't know what, but he told me he doesn't have a choice."

"Please don't give Mike problems when he comes over there to fetch you," she answered before she hung up the call.

I lay down on the bed and groaned. I took the pillow and covered my face before I screamed into it.

The embarrassment that Dominic caused me when he came to my place and failed to finish the job got into me.

He let me believe he was finally falling for me, only for him to leave before the deed was done. He led me on, only for him to dump me when it was convenient for him.

When I remembered the stupid girl he called his stepsister, I got up from the bed and grabbed my bag. I headed to the door and went to find her room.

But before I could reach the elevator doors, I heard a door opening behind me, and when I tilted my head, it was Dominic and her.

I quickly pulled out my cell phone from my pocket and took a video of them as he led her inside his room.

I stopped recording when the door closed behind them. And it was so strange that he left a few hours ago, only for him to return with her.

Clearly, I wasn't crazy or dreaming when I saw them kissing under the oak tree during the full moon.

He was sleeping with her and making me a fool by making me think she was his stepsister.

But I would be damned if she ruined everything for me.

I slipped my cell phone back into my pocket and went to knock on Dominic’s door. I wanted to confirm the truth before using the video to my advantage.

"Kaila?" He gasped when he opened the door and saw me. He hadn't expected to see me, especially after sneaking his 'stepsister' into his room after leaving me abruptly a few hours ago.

"Kaila, what are you doing here?" He asked as he stepped out of the room and closed the door behind him.

I folded my arms across my chest and scoffed. "Is she the reason you left me in my room looking like a fool?" I sneered.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"You seriously don't know what I am talking about?" I asked, huffing. "Fine, you know what? Forget this conversation and whatever happened when you came into my room earlier."

"I just—"

I walked away before he could finish his sentence and went into my room. I leaned my back against the door and breathed before I slipped my cell phone from my pocket and looked at the video.

I couldn't fathom the thought of Dominic ruining everything for me because he wanted to be with his 'stepsister'.

My parents had made it clear that we would lose everything if Dominic didn't marry me. And the life I grew knowing would vanish.

That wasn't something I was willing to accept.

So, I sent the video to my mother and Dominic’s father. He had called me a couple of times to ask about our engagement, and now he would know that his son was messing around with his stepsister.

Dominic’s father called almost immediately. He was furious and I could hear that through the call.

"Miss Blackthorne," he answered. "What did you say my son is seeing behind your back?"

"His stepsister, sir," I answered. "Her name is Aveline Cinderfall."

"Thank you for the information," he replied after a long moment. "I will handle this, and please don't worry, my son won't ruin the agreement I had with your father. Your marriage with him will happen."

I smiled when that call ended. And I finally got a perfect idea about how to make Aveline disappear permanently.
