Chapter 33: Chapter 0033

"Honey, you should've called me," my father said as he rushed to Felicia in the hallway.
"Can't I come to my man's house when I miss him?" She asked, chuckling. "Besides, we need to talk about—" Felicia froze when she appeared in the living room and saw Evelyn and me.
"This is not what you think, but I will explain everything once my ex-wife leaves."
"Ex-wife?" Evelyn scoffed. "The divorce is not yet finalized, but who am I to judge?"
"Evelyn is here to pick up the rest of her stuff and then she will leave," my father answered, looking at Felicia. "Please don't listen to a word she has just said."
I folded my arms across my chest and rolled my eyes. I instantly regretted my decision to come here to speak with my father.
There was obviously nothing to talk about since he still had a lot of things to handle as well. He couldn't even handle his problems with Evelyn before moving on with Felicia.
"Yeah, says the pathological liar who ruined our marriage and cheated on me with a slut!" Evelyn snapped, and my father quickly grabbed Felicia before she launched at Evelyn.
"Let me go, Justin!" Felicia screamed. "I won't let another bitch call me a bitch! She should mind her tongue around me because I will cut it off!"
"You will cut my tongue off?" Evelyn scoffed. "Bitch, I will kill you before you can even touch me!"
Felicia's nostrils flared before she turned around and headed to the front door. My father followed behind her.
"Please don't leave, Evelyn is the one who is leaving," my father begged her, as I sat on the couch.
I clutched my handbag to my chest, ready to leave as well because there was no way I would stay here.
Evelyn muttered something under her breath before she walked out of the living room, and the front door slammed closed.
When my father and Felicia returned, I stood up from the couch.
"I think I should leave, Dad," I said, avoiding Felicia's eyes. It was already embarrassing enough that I was sleeping with her son, and I feared that if I looked at her, I'd fail to keep myself together.
"We will talk some other time."
Before I could walk out, my father leaned toward me and asked Felicia to give us a few minutes alone. She didn't even argue. She nodded and went upstairs.
"I am so sorry for what happened," he began. "You're my only daughter, and I don't want us to lose the connection that we have. I know I promised to explain everything to you, and I still plan to do that if you stay over tonight."
"After what happened?" I scoffed. "You saw how resentful Evelyn is toward me because of you!" I snapped. "You shouldn't have paid her to raise me after cheating on her and having a baby with another woman behind her back. And you won't understand because you're not the one standing in my shoes."
"I made mistakes, yes, but I did everything I thought was best for you."
"Best for me?" I huffed. "You did what was best for you and didn't care about Evelyn's feelings and mine! You knew she wouldn't love a child that she didn't have with you, but you still went ahead and trapped her with me!"
"What else did you want me to do, Aveline?" He asked, his voice slightly rising. "Did you want me to give you to nannies who wouldn't have cared for you as Evelyn did?"
"That would've been better than finding out on my birthday that she was paid to be my mother," I replied, my voice low. "You've ruined my life, Dad, and congratulations for that. I hope you feel proud of yourself when you sleep at night."
I walked past him and headed to the front door. I didn't stop or look back even when he called behind me.
All I wanted was to be as far away as I could be from him. My heart was shattering, and after our last conversation, I wasn't sure if my relationship with my father would ever be the same again.
"Aveline?" He called out as I went to the gate and found an Uber already waiting for me. I hopped inside and the driver left before my father came out of the gate.
The driver dropped me off outside a small bar.
I wanted a few glasses of vodka to drown the chaos in my mind before going back to school.
The bartender didn't even ask for my ID when I ordered vodka shots. I downed them one by one and when I was finished, my head started spinning.
My cell phone rang after ordering a martini. I couldn't even see the name on the screen as I pressed my cell phone to my ear.
"Hello?" I said, clearing my throat.
"Aveline, where are you?"
My heart skipped a beat when I heard his voice. For a moment, I felt a little sober.
"Why do you care?"
He didn't answer and just when I was about to hang up the call, he answered.
"Where are you?" He asked, his voice firm. "You're not in school, are you?"
"Leave me alone, Dominic," I scoffed, frowning. "I don't owe you anything."
"Tell me where you are right now, Aveline," he commanded me. The nerve. "Don't make me find you myself."
"I am not your puppet," I shot back. "If you think you can ask me to jump, and I will ask you how high, you're fucking high!"
I placed my cell phone on the counter and picked up my martini glass, and sipped.
For a wolf, I got drunk too easily and it was embarrassing. I looked at the time on my wristwatch and realized it was already midnight.
Dominic and my father were calling me nonstop as if I couldn't take care of myself.
Rolling my eyes, I got off the chair and headed outside the bar. I was busy on my phone, requesting an Uber when two guys approached me.
"Come on," the one on my left said, slipping his arm into mine. "Don't leave so soon. Cole and I have plans for you." He didn't say another word as he lifted his shirt and showed me the knife tucked into his pants.
