Chapter 33 I like his wife?
“Fuck me!” She moaned as I harshly sucked on her lips. I didn't reply, instead my index finger moved to the middle of her thigh and I began to violently finger her.

“Argh! Clara! Fuck, it coming! My orgasm is coming!” She cried in pleasure, throwing her head on my shoulder, and a smug smile settled on my face.

She wants something, she wants my body. I know this, but I was determined to starve her till she realizes she doesn't need ‘him’.

Clara's POV

“Lead? Do you see a leader in me?” I asked, my eyes widening in shock.

When I was born, my father gave my mum a single instruction. He told her to kill me since I was a girl child and he didn't want his sons to have a female rival. My mother refused and secretly ran away with me. She built her bar from scratch and sought protection from influential people. When my father realized that my mother wasn't going to listen to him, he agreed to welcome me back into the family, but in return, I must know my place and submit completely to his sons, Lucian and Gawin.

In the mansion, I was all alone, with no one to befriend me. Everyone saw me as a weakling, and I was abandoned to die. None of my brothers were there for me, and on multiple occasions, I tried to make friends with them, but they shunned me, labeling me as bad luck.

Unable to bear it anymore, I traveled abroad for schooling, and there I made up my mind to be different. Everyone saw me as a weak vessel, that was my strength, no one would know if I became stronger. When I decided to come back to Hollywood, no one suspected me, they didn't see me as a threat, and I used the perfect silence to plot my revenge.

I became friendly, always acting like I needed them to survive, and they believed me. I never showed them my true color, to everyone I was still weak Clara. That was my biggest weapon.

“A leader?” I whispered, pretending to be shocked by his words, even though my chest thudded with excitement. I was happy that I was finally getting some acknowledgement.

Lucian’s eyes were cold, unreadable. I knew that look, he wanted to see if I’d flinch, if I’d beg, or if I’d dare.

I had to do something, anything to make him stop doubting me….for now.

“I mean,” I said to him softly, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear, “why would you even ask that? You know I’m not meant to lead anything. Not with this face, not with this blood. I'm a woman, not a leader.”

He didn’t reply. He just stared. “A woman, huh? So you think a woman can't lead?” He asked me with arched brows. But it was more of a test, like he wanted to know my opinion.

I forced a nervous laugh. “You’re joking, right?”

Lucian didn’t smile. “Do I look like I’m joking?”

For a second, I almost came clean and told him the truth about my mission. The way he looked at me, like for the first time someone knew I was capable of causing harm. That look warmed my heart, but I cautioned myself quickly. I had spent years wearing this mask; no one could see through it. Not even Lucian.

“I just want peace,” I lied smoothly. “You can have the family company. I’ll just survive on whatever crumbs you and Gawin drop.”

He chuckled under his breath, a humorless sound. “You’ve never liked crumbs, Clara. Don’t insult my intelligence. I know you want something, and I'm fine with it, as long as you don't harm what belongs to me.”

Those words were a threat, but I smiled. “Brother, anyone can change. You’ve never liked a woman's company, but look at you now — a married man.”

That shut him up. His eyes flickered, and I knew I hit the right spot.

I turned toward the window, giving him my back. The city lights reflected off the glass, painting my face with gold and shadows. “If Sonia becomes the face of Smithfield, she’ll bring light to our family,” I said quietly. “People love a good Cinderella story. The bar girl who survived, now stands beside the heir.”

Lucian folded his arms. “And what about you? What is your story?”

I turned to face him, smiling faintly. “Me? I’ll be the one cleaning up after the light goes out. If you run into any trouble, I'll handle them.”

He stared, like he wanted to read between my words, but there was nothing to see. Just the loyal little sister, the one who never meant harm.

When he finally looked away, I let my smile fade. He didn’t need to know what I truly wanted, not yet. He didn’t need to know that every sleepless night, I imagined sitting where he sat now. That every humiliation, every insult, every slap from Father’s guards burned itself into a promise.

Lucian thought he could use me, but he’d forgotten one thing, bastards like us don’t stay quiet forever. We operate from the shadows.

The room grew silent with time. Lucian picked up a file from the table and tossed it to me. “Keep Sonia out of the press for the next few days,” he ordered. “If Gawin gets wind of this, it’ll be chaos.”

I caught it, flipping through the pages without even looking. “I’ll handle it. You don't want anyone to find out you're in love with her, right?” I asked feigning ignorance.

Lucian arched his brows. “No, of course not. The reporters think I love her, and indeed, I do. But my inner circle thinks I am using her for influence. I want things to remain that way,” he explained.

I nodded like I just understood. “Ohhh, okay. I understand.”

“I’m serious, Clara,” he said sharply. “Don’t try anything stupid.”

I met his gaze. “You think I’d risk the only chance I’ve got left?”

Lucian studied me for a long second, then nodded. “Good. You’ll stay here with me until the PR mess is under control.”

Perfect. Exactly what I wanted.

I smiled sweetly. “Whatever you say, big brother.”

When he turned to leave, I whispered under my breath, low enough only for the shadows to hear:

“You’ll regret giving me this chance, brother. I'm your nightmare.”
