Chapter 817 Eddy Brown
Chapter 817 Eddy Brown
In Daniel's words, it was rare to get together.
Ever since William got married, he'd been pretty distant with them.
The first thing Daniel said when he stepped into Mistwood Hill was: "Feels like a mafia organization finding their long-lost boss."
Seeing Daniel looking behind her, Evelyn turned around to see Thalia walking in wearing a long dress, with William following protectively behind her.
"Why are you staring at me like that? Is something wrong?"
"Last time I saw you, your belly wasn't showing, but now..." Probably because Thalia was so thin, even though she'd gained quite a bit during pregnancy, she was still skinny—thin arms and thin legs with a big belly, making people worry if she could handle the weight.
"If you see me again in a while, I'll look different again."
Thalia sat down in the chair William pulled out for her.
The four of them chatted in the living room while waiting for Nicholas and Elijah.
William sat beside Thalia, occasionally picking up the teapot to make tea, occasionally rubbing her waist.
His movements were as gentle as though he were handling a rare treasure.
"Have you thought of a name yet?" Daniel suddenly asked while holding his teacup.
"Yes."
"Did you think of it or did your dad?"
"Me."
Thalia was curious. "I haven't heard you mention it."
"Didn't want you to worry about it," William squeezed her palm.
"What is it?"
"Eddy Brown."
At thirty-eight weeks pregnant, Thalia was starting to feel like she couldn't hold on anymore.
Sleepless nights were the least of her problems.
She kept saying all day that she didn't want to give birth anymore.
She thought about having an early C-section, but Grace firmly refused.
Coaxing and persuading her to hold on for a few more days.
"When I was pregnant with you, I gave birth at 38+6. You'll probably be around that time too."
"What if it goes past that?"
Grace knew Thalia needed to be coaxed. "If it goes past, I'll do whatever you want. If William disagrees, I'll deal with him for you."
Thalia gritted her teeth and held on for four more days.
That night, lying in bed half asleep, in a daze she had a confusing dream where she was walking by a lake and someone pulled her into the water. She stepped into nothing and suddenly woke up.
After her rapid breathing, warm fluid flowed down continuously.
An ominous feeling spread through her entire body, instantly penetrating every part of her.
"William..."
"William..." Thalia's calls carried a crying tone.
William, who had been sleeping on the couch outside, stumbled and practically crawled in, frightened. "What's wrong, baby?"
"My water broke."
William lifted the blanket to look.
In an instant, the house was in chaos. Even Grace and Harper, who had been through this before, were flustered and didn't know what to do.
Amara came in dragging her exhausted body after finishing surgery, and seeing the house still brightly lit at three in the morning with servants running around frantically, she had a bad feeling.
"Fallon, what happened?"
"Mrs. Brown's water broke."
"If her water broke, it broke. Why panic? Is the car ready?"
"Yes."
As soon as Amara came back, everyone in the house had someone to rely on.
She arranged everything properly.
Clear division of tasks.
Half an hour later, Thalia was in a VIP private room at the hospital.
When the contractions hit, William squatted beside her holding her hand, and Amara rubbed her back.
From 3:30 to 6:30, after three hours of contractions, she wasn't even dilated to two centimeters. If this continued, by the time she dilated to three centimeters for the epidural, Thalia would suffer a lot.
Amara discussed with the obstetrics director and reached a conclusion. "We need to do a C-section."
After explaining the situation to William, he had no objections.
At seven o'clock that morning, Thalia was wheeled into the operating room, with Amara following.
Seven thirty-five.
Thalia's belly emptied, and a clear newborn cry filled the operating room.
William and Thalia were blessed with a son, named Eddy.
Thalia woke up from the pain in a daze. The faint pain from the incision made it hard for her to sleep.
"Awake?"
"Does it hurt?"
William sat by the bed with her. Seeing her wake up, he stood up anxiously and bent down to look at her.
Thalia blinked weakly. "It hurts."
As soon as she said it hurt, a tear slid down her face, piercing her soul, leaving a deep mark on her life.
William held her hand to his lips, his sobs uncontrollable, his chest shaking as he struggled to squeeze out a few words. "You've suffered."
"My Thalia has suffered," the man murmured with red eyes.
Thalia reached up to touch the corner of his eye, weak and powerless. "Don't cry."
"Okay, I won't cry," William forced out a smile that didn't look quite right. "Want to see the baby?"
"No."
"Why not?"
Thalia said, "Too ugly."
All wrinkled up like a little old man.
Everyone in the room, including William, was speechless.
Grace spoke up indignantly. "What do you know? The uglier they look at birth, the better looking they get later. You were uglier than him when you were born."
The second day after delivery, the doctor ordered her to get up and walk. Thalia was in soul-shaking pain.
She cried heartbreakingly with her arms around William's neck.
Everyone in the room coaxed and persuaded her, but getting her to take one more step was asking too much.
She cried.
The little one cried along with her.
"Take the baby to the living room and close the door, close it," Grace urged Harper to take the baby nurse out.
Once the door closed, the world became quiet.
Comforting Thalia was William's job now.
