Chapter 515 Cleaning Up Eileen
"Everything was fine. How did she suddenly have a stroke?"
"Hasn't it been well controlled all along?"
In the hospital, Steven looked at the doctor, his hand gripping the crutch, trembling.
"With Mrs. Jimenez's condition, taking medication punctually would have been fine, but the problem is, it was delayed for too long. Mr. Jimenez, don't worry, as long as she does rehabilitation punctually as time goes on, she'll recover."
Hearing this, Steven's fierce gaze fell on Bella. "Why was it delayed so long? Weren't you at home? Four or five people in the house, and you couldn't even take care of one person?"
The doctor, seeing this, noticed the young woman was fair-skinned and pretty, looking so fragile that he couldn't bear to watch.
"Stop scolding her. This young lady got the patient to the hospital all by herself, covered in sweat. That wasn't easy. If it weren't for her, Mrs. Jimenez might not have had such a good outcome!"
"Exactly!" A nurse nearby chimed in.
Bella kept her head lowered the whole time, saying nothing.
Old people always have some problems—if not chronic illnesses, then needing long-term medication.
With Eileen's condition, in an ordinary family, she would have died a hundred times over.
With everyone around trying to calm things down, Steven couldn't make a scene and turned to enter the ward.
Seeing him go in, Bella looked up at the doctor standing in the corner, but withdrew her gaze after just one glance.
Sean was caught up in a scandal, and with Dione stirring things up, within a week, news of his suspected involvement in hiring someone to commit murder was released.
Suspended pending investigation, he was detained in Regal City.
As Christmas vacation approached, Sean was in Regal City, and Steven had also returned to Regal City, running around trying to deal with Sean's situation.
This left Bella and Eileen in Emerald City.
In the first-floor bedroom of the villa, Bella was feeding Eileen porridge.
After the stroke, half her body was paralyzed, and unable to speak clearly; her temper grew increasingly volatile.
Seeing Bella looking so frail, she became even more furious.
She raised her one functioning hand and slapped Bella across the face.
With trembling hands, she glared at her shakily, mouth twisted as she cursed, "Bad luck."
"Mrs. Jimenez..." The person nearby was startled, looking at the mark on Bella's face with some sympathy.
In this household, who treated people well and who didn't was crystal clear.
"It's fine, go get another bowl of porridge."
The servant left and returned. Bella took the porridge, locked the door, and walked toward the bed while scooping with the spoon. "You don't know yet, do you? Sean has been suspended pending investigation in Regal City. The reason is suspected involvement in hiring someone to commit murder."
Hearing this, Eileen's eyes widened instantly.
"In Regal City, Dione is pressuring him. In Emerald City, there's William. What do you think Sean's final outcome will be? Mrs. Jimenez, 'inviting a wolf into your home—that's talking about you, isn't it? Mr. Brown didn't think much of you all, but you insisted on cozying up to him. Now what? You've openly handed him the chance to deal with you. Don't you think you deserve this?" Continued Bella.
Eileen trembled with rage.
Bella laughed. "Already angry? Don't rush!"
Bella set the porridge on the nearby counter and took out a hair tie to put up her hair.
Then, holding the porridge in one hand, she grabbed Eileen's chin with the other and poured the scalding porridge into her mouth.
The heat made Eileen mumble incoherently, screaming in pain.
"You'd better live to be a hundred. I'll return every humiliation you've put me through, one by one."
Just then, there was a knock at the door. Bella stopped what she was doing.
She called out, "What is it?"
"Mrs. Bella Jimenez, there's a Ms. Smith at the door looking for you. She heard Mrs. Eileen Jimenez isn't well and came to visit."
"Let her in."
With that, she grabbed a tissue and wiped the porridge off Eileen.
As she crumpled the tissue and tossed it in the trash, she asked gently, "Know who's here? its Thalia.. Grandma, think about it—when you were healthy, you couldn't handle people. What about now?"
Almost instantly, Bella saw a flash of fear in Eileen's eyes.
"Scared? Well, people who've done evil deeds fear most when their enemies come calling while they're weak and helpless."
Looking at Bella, Eileen never imagined that the once fragile girl had now become a blade aimed at her.
"I shouldn't have kept you..."
"Too late. Why didn't you think of that earlier? If only you hadn't forced me to marry Sean, things between us wouldn't have come to this."
Thalia pushed the door open just as Bella was leaving. Standing at the door, she looked at Eileen lying disheveled on the bed and roughly guessed what had happened.
Looking at Eileen now, angry but unable to move—what a sight.
"You've schemed your whole life. Did you ever calculate you'd end up like this?" Thalia, wearing a bright red coat, stood by the bed.
"Once Sean returns to Regal City, even if I don't investigate, someone will want to kill him! Did you really think that just because he's ruthless, I wouldn't have a backup plan? The Jimenez family—if they're obedient, fine, I'll keep them around. But if not, there's no use keeping them. Legal troubles everywhere. In the short term, Steven and Sean will probably have no time to worry about your situation in Emerald City. When that happens, I'll replace everyone in this house with my people. Have you thought about what kind of life you'll have then? Not enough to eat or wear, tormented daily, with no one coming to save you. It won't take many days to wear down all that pride you've built up over a lifetime."
"We are... allies." Eileen's face contorted uncontrollably with anger as she looked at Thalia, finally managing to get out these words.
"What you wanted was a blade, not an ally!" Thalia said, then picked up the water kettle by the bed, lifted Eileen's blanket, and poured the entire kettle of water on her lower body.
"What are you doing?"
Thalia smiled as she put the kettle back, deliberately exclaiming in surprise, "Oh my! Mrs. Jimenez has lost control of her bladder!"
"Thalia..." Eileen was too angry to speak.
Thalia could have just killed her directly, but instead chose this method to humiliate her, trampling her dignity underfoot.
Outside, the servant heard the commotion and came in to change Eileen's clothes, but was angrily driven out and splashed with water.
She looked at Bella helplessly. "Mrs. Bella Jimenez, Mrs. Eileen Jimenez's situation is beyond our job responsibilities."
Bella nodded. "You're right. Thank you for your hard work. I'll settle this month's wages with you all in a bit, and you can leave tonight."
Everyone fell silent.
They only intended to ask for a raise, but...
