Chapter 432 Knowing Me, You Still Dare to Touch My Wife?
"Hey! What's with all the questions? She's your patient, but she's my sister!"
"Oh, please! Sister? Everyone knows you two don't share the same mother. When your dad was alive, fine, you had some connection. But your dad's dead now, and you're still trying to claim this relationship."
"What kind of doctor are you? Do you make your living by running your mouth?"
"Not at all! I just can't stand you. Look, it's one thing for you to show off everywhere else, but today you come to the hospital to show off in front of my patient. If I hadn't seen it, fine, but I saw it and did nothing - that would be really hard to accept."
As Amara spoke, she pulled over a chair and sat down, looking at Chase. "Want to argue? I'm ready to go all the way."
In her whole life, since she could remember, her mom had been a teacher. To gain even the slightest advantage under her mom's watch, she'd spent years matching wits with her, and her arguing skills were well-honed. She'd never been afraid of anyone. A mere Chase was nothing to worry about.
"I'll come back another day!" Chase wasn't stupid - he didn't want to fight with her.
As soon as Chase left, William, standing not far away, glanced at his bodyguard.
The latter followed him out.
In the parking lot, just as Chase was about to open his car door, someone threw a sack over his head and gave him a beating. He screamed in pain while the two men worked together - one doing the beating, one recording video.
When Amara received William's video, she opened it and showed it to Thalia. "Take a look."
"See? Your husband is useful after all. Chase dares to show off in front of you - beat him to death."
"That's about all he's good for," Grace sat on the edge of the bed, peeling an apple in her hand. Hearing Amara's words, she added this cold comment.
Amara knew Grace was in a bad mood and didn't dare say a single good word about William in front of her.
"I'll go check on the department. You two chat, I'll come back later."
As soon as Amara left, Grace shot Thalia a warning look. "I'm guessing you know this whole thing is connected to William."
"The Jimenez family has complicated relationships and divided loyalties. What Steven wants is very different from what his children want. William has been letting them jump around in front of him without dealing with it, simply because what the Jimenez family is offering him isn't satisfactory. But the rest of the Jimenez family isn't so kind-hearted. Sean naturally doesn't want William to return to Regal City and get involved in Jimenez family affairs. Once he gets involved, Sean's position in the Jimenez family won't be secure."
"Sean came to Emerald City and couldn't deal with William, but you're out there in public all the time - dealing with you would be pretty easy."
Grace cut a piece of apple and put it in her mouth. "Do you really think William is so high-minded? That he doesn't care about the past? For a businessman like him who climbed up from the bottom, what he fears most is that unbearable past. He may not pursue the fact that he was abandoned as a child, but either way, he needs an answer."
"The Jimenez family is the answer he wants."
..........
"You found out?"
"Got the person," Finn replied, looking at William.
The latter nodded. "Bring him over."
In the hospital parking lot, William sat in the car wearing a white shirt. The back door was wide open, and the man's cold face flickered in and out under the dim fluorescent lights of the parking lot, his severe presence filling the entire space.
By the car door, Finn pressed a man's shoulder, forcing him to kneel on the ground.
He pulled off the hood from the man's head.
Suddenly exposed to light, the man was startled and about to curse, but when he looked up and saw the man's cold, murderous face, he was too scared to make a sound. The man before him was like a cold-faced judge from hell, and he was an evil little ghost receiving judgment.
What's more, he'd seen this person several times on TV news or web pages.
Anyone who'd been to Emerald City's CBD knew that the large screen on the tallest building in the CBD often displayed his posters.
Rumor had it he was cold and ruthless, the highest-ranking person in Emerald City's business world.
"Mr. Brown," the man stammered.
William glanced at him sideways, tapped his cigarette ash, his tone cold and flat, lips parting slightly. "You know me?"
"I... I know you."
"You know me and still dared to go after my wife?"
"What?" The man was shocked. Though he didn't follow business news much, he knew the man before him was single, with plenty of people wanting to throw themselves at him.
When did he get a wife?
William rarely had patience for such lowlifes. "Who did you go after today?"
"Thalia," the man said, then stared in disbelief.
Thalia had become the wife of Emerald City's business mogul? This was explosive news.
If this got out and was sold to the media, he'd be set for life.
"Who told you to do it?"
"I don't know, never saw them, only got a phone call."
William raised his hand and took a drag, exhaling smoke. The man gave a short laugh that quickly disappeared, but that brief sound made the kneeling man break out in cold sweat.
Smoke spread through the car and drifted out the door.
The man narrowed his eyes and glanced at Finn, who understood, closed the car door, grabbed the man's head, and slammed it against the Maybach's body repeatedly - ruthless, leaving the man dizzy and disoriented.
Finn covered his mouth, not giving him any chance to scream.
When he came to his senses, his hair was grabbed, and he was forced to look at Finn. "Think carefully. Better tell me everything clearly, or next time it won't be the car body you're hitting."
"With your worthless life and stupid brain, being able to hit a Maybach is an honor for you." With that, Finn threw him on the ground and reopened the car door.
Under scrutiny, the man felt the pressure around him drop. Trembling, he crawled on all fours to the car door, gripping the running board with both hands to barely keep from falling.
"I really don't know anything else. The night before last, a man contacted me and told me to do these things, said he'd give me a million dollars. I didn't believe it at first, thought it was a scam, but then he transferred five hundred thousand dollars to me right away and told me to go to that building the next day, find the water cooler by the wall, and pour it on the floor. I didn't want to do it at first, but he told me it was just water, so I believed him."
