Chapter 428 Don't Touch Me!
Amara crouched on the ground sorting through gifts, while Thalia sat beside her with her chin propped on her hands, watching her organize the fruits of her labor.
Lazily watching Amara, while carefully keeping her guard up against William.
"Don't you feel guilty going out to have fun without taking me along?"
Hearing Thalia's words, Amara stopped what she was doing and looked at her. "Who told you I didn't invite you? I did invite you..."
"Now that you're back, when are you planning to return to the hospital?" Sensing things were going south, William interrupted Amara. If Thalia found out that Amara had invited her but he had stopped her, she would never let him hear the end of it.
William's interruption made Amara understand immediately. Her eyes shifted.
Making her take the blame? Couldn't they just let her have it easy for once?
Since she had to be the scapegoat anyway, and William wouldn't let her suffer for it, she nodded, deciding to take responsibility first and negotiate terms later.
"You traveling with my mom - what if there's conflict between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law? I thought about it and decided it was better not to invite you."
Thalia looked at Amara, trying to find some trace of lying on her face. But she found none.
"Chicken soup, Thalia."
Harper brought over the chicken soup and handed it to Thalia.
Thalia's mouth twitched. She didn't really want to drink it - she wanted to maintain her figure.
"Mom, you're giving Thalia chicken soup this late at night? She's a celebrity! She needs to watch her figure."
Harper wasn't like other elders - not that rigid. Hearing Amara's words, she realized it was inappropriate.
Seeing Harper wavering, Thalia quickly spoke up, "Give it to William!"
Harper said, "He doesn't deserve it."
William was speechless.
Before dinner, William stood outside taking a phone call. Amara slipped out and waited for him to finish, blinking at him expectantly, waiting for him to speak. "I took the blame for you, shouldn't you show some appreciation?"
"What do you want?"
Hearing this, Amara smiled and reached into her empty pockets, patting them - the meaning was obvious: she wanted money!
"Out of money?"
"Yes!"
"Shouldn't the private jet expenses be reimbursed? I'll have finance pull the bill for you tomorrow."
William said coldly, "Eating my food, using my stuff, and still trying to scam me?"
"What about those poor patients in your department who can't afford treatment?"
William said, pocketing his phone and pushing Amara aside. "Thalia pushes me around, and you want to too? Everyone wants to push me around?"
"Coward, you only know how to bully me. If you're so tough, go deal with Thalia!"
"Staying home tonight?" Harper suggested as soon as William came in.
William glanced at Thalia sitting on the sofa and shook his head. "Another time."
Tonight he needed to go back and deal with Thalia.
If he didn't, it wouldn't ease his anger.
That glance from William made Thalia's heart skip a beat. She had a feeling this man was up to no good!
He was probably plotting how to deal with her.
"It's been so long, why not stay the night?" Thalia thought she'd better stay. What if she went back and got bullied? Wouldn't that be terrible?
William's gaze darkened as he watched her, and from his eyes alone you could tell he had nothing good in mind.
"I have a breakfast meeting at Mistwood Hill early tomorrow morning, I can't afford to stay over," the man said calmly.
Cutting off Harper's attempt to persuade him to stay. At a time like this, normally if Thalia wanted to stay, Harper would side with Thalia no matter what. But William was a busy man who flew around the world day and night when work called - work matters really couldn't be delayed.
"Then remember to take the gifts when you leave."
They had brought back gifts for everyone in the family this trip, even including Finn.
At ten-thirty, the two left the Brown Mansion for Mistwood Hill. On the way, Thalia expected something to happen, but William got in the car and stayed on the phone all the way to the Mistwood Hill living room, talking to someone about things Thalia only half understood.
The man's slender fingers moved in the air. Seeing he had no intention of hanging up, Thalia walked upstairs.
She had just entered the dressing room to grab her pajamas and was about to go into the bathroom when the man strode in and pinned her against the wall, their lips and tongues immediately entangled.
Using both hands and feet, the man lifted her onto the cabinet in the middle of the dressing room. His thin lips traveled inch by inch over her entire body, kissing Thalia until she was dizzy and breathless, desire erupting almost instantly. It had to be said, William's skills at seduction were exceptional.
Thalia always felt extreme pleasure around him.
She wanted to melt her very bones and cling to him.
Dragging him down with her.
Into the sinful mire.
"Go to the bed," Thalia said hazily, touching his shirt collar.
She was already completely undressed, while he was still in his suit, not the least bit flustered.
Seeing her lost in desire, William was in a great mood. His hand on her waist slowly moved to support himself on the counter. "Baby, I just swallowed a fly. How does it taste?"
"William, I'm going to kill you, you bastard." Thalia was furious. So this man had gotten her all worked up just to wait for this moment? To disgust her?
"If I die someday, I'm definitely going to find your ancestors and ask them how they raised such a bastard like you."
"Just you wait. Be careful - if I have your child someday, I'll take it out on them every day. All the revenge I can't get on you, I'll take out on the kid and make them question their existence."
William chuckled. The more furious Thalia got, the happier he was. "No need to wait. I can satisfy you right now."
"Hm? Have sex?"
"Get lost!" Thalia slammed the bathroom door in anger.
In the middle of the night, after William showered and got into bed, he reached out to pull her into his arms. Thalia was still sulking. As soon as William's hand reached over, she coldly threw out a line: "Don't touch me!"
