Chapter 421 Did You Miss Me?
He knew that bringing Thalia into this fight would be all benefits and no harm.
Besides her, who else could handle Eileen so well?
Who else could keep Eileen completely in check?
Physical confrontation was absolutely out of the question.
"Mr. Brown suppressed the news. Not many people in Emerald City know about this. Your grandmother is probably furious right now. Mr. Jimenez, you'd better not go near her and ask for trouble."
Michael grunted and hung up.
He could imagine how furious Eileen must be right now.
"What is this?"
"Lilies, the smell is nauseating, and ninety-nine of them?" Layla looked at the bouquet in the office and called Thalia, her expression showing utter disgust.
"Who sent them?"
"Let me see, Michael."
"Throw them out!"
"What does it say?"
"Expressing thanks, and there's cash." Layla said, tossing the money to the receptionist and asking her to count it with the money counter.
"Nine thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine dollars."
Thalia was speechless.
"There's writing, Layla."
Layla picked up the card and looked at the words. "There's another line, hand care fee."
Thalia understood. Michael was thanking her in a roundabout way for dealing with Eileen last night.
She rubbed her neck. "Keep it, treat the colleagues to coffee."
"Changed location today? Can you come back tonight?"
"Staying at a hotel." Thalia responded to Layla while swiping the room card to open the door. When she saw the room, she thought she'd opened the wrong door and closed it to open it again.
"Did they give me the wrong room?"
Isla shook her head. "No, the director said this hotel only has these conditions. Everyone's room is the same. Think about it, you're the female lead, and you get this kind of room; others have it worse."
"Can I switch hotels?"
Isla looked at her and shook her head. "There are no other hotels nearby. The filming locations these days are all pretty remote."
Thalia hadn't hung up yet. Layla heard this and chimed in. "When everyone's treated the same, don't be so picky. Either stay at the hotel or sleep in the car."
Thalia knew she couldn't be picky at times like this. If someone with bad intentions saw it, who knows what they'd say about her being arrogant!
She sighed, holding back her discomfort. "Got it."
"There's a bedding set in the car. I'll bring it to change. If you're not used to the comforter, I'll get the blanket," Isla tried to solve Thalia's problem. Thalia had no choice but to nod.
That evening, after filming and washing up, she was sitting at the desk doing her skincare when William's video call came through.
As soon as he connected and saw the reddish-brown wall background behind Thalia, he was a bit shocked and asked in a concerned tone. "Where are you?"
"At a hotel, can't you tell?"
Because she was uncomfortable with the accommodation, Thalia was full of anger. She couldn't take it out on her crew colleagues, so William walked right into the line of fire.
"No other hotels?"
"None."
William knew Thalia had been pampered since childhood and rarely stayed in places like this.
Making her stay in a place like this today was really unfair to her.
"How many days?"
"Three days. We'll go back after finishing the scenes here."
"Just bear with it." William comforted her. Hearing this, Thalia rolled her eyes. What else could she do but bear with it? This was the best hotel nearby.
There was nowhere else to go.
"William! I'm not there, do you miss me?" Something occurred to Thalia. A light bulb went off in her head. She stretched her neck toward the phone camera. Having just come out of the shower, she wore rather conservative long-sleeved pajamas, but even so, what should be revealed was still revealed.
Her ample cleavage appeared through the phone screen. The man sitting in the study pressed his thin lips together.
William remained silent, not giving an answer to the question.
"I'm asking you! Do you miss me or not?" Thalia added.
"I do. Can you come back?" William asked back.
Thalia clicked her tongue. "I can, in a couple days. You keep missing me for now."
"Thalia, that's all you've got. Seducing me when I'm not around. If you're so capable, seduce me in person."
Thalia thought to herself, she's not that stupid.
"Mr. Jimenez, someone's at the door looking for you."
"Who?"
"The business people who came to see us a while ago."
Eileen came out of the bedroom with a teacup and heard this. "Don't see them. Do we see just anyone?"
Stefan seemed hesitant. When they brought benefits, the doors were wide open with joy and welcome. Now that they'd been retaliated against by William and had no use value, they were being turned away. This might cause public outrage.
This overly realistic approach could very likely make the other party resentful and seek revenge.
"Let them in," Steven said.
"You go inside," this was said to Eileen.
"They have no use value anymore. Why are you still seeing them?"
"They indeed have no use value, but people's anger can kill anything, including us. Do you want them to redirect their anger at William toward us?" Steven's rhetorical question made her pause.
The latter didn't respond again and went into the bedroom with her cup.
"Mrs. Jimenez, I checked, and there's really no one in all of Emerald City who dares to provoke Thalia. At first, it was because of Hayden; now it's because of Grace, plus she herself is smart with a personality that always seeks revenge. Probably no one wants to create unnecessary trouble."
"I don't believe I can't get revenge."
In the living room, Steven looked at the people sitting across from him. "Gentlemen, you came to see me about something?"
"About Mr. Brown's matter, Mr. Jimenez, you haven't forgotten what you promised us, have you?"
"Of course not," Steven nodded.
Everyone's anger flared up instantly. "But look at the situation now?"
"I heard. Don't tell me all your warehouse fires were set by Mr. Brown?"
"You........." Without evidence, no one could make wild accusations. After all, saying William did it was just a rumor.
"Everything has its time. Gifts given out, how successful things turn out depends on luck. You don't think I can fight against fate, do you?" Steven's few words made the faces of the people in front of him turn dark.
Knowing their trip today was wasted, they blamed themselves for desperately seeking help.
When Michael received Eileen's call and came to the Jimenez Mansion, he saw these people leaving. He glanced at Henry, who very sensibly followed them to get information.
Meanwhile, Thalia was still video chatting with William when she received Michael's message and opened it. "Sending you a picture, see if you recognize the people in it."
"Who sent it to you?"
"Michael."
