Chapter 383 If She Find That Michael's Figure Is Better Than Yours
The entire glass of wine splashed all over Michael, who clearly didn't see it coming. He raised his hand to wipe his face, his expression alternating between disbelief and shock as his gaze landed on Thalia.
She actually did this in front of everyone.
Looking at Thalia, she gracefully extended her fingers holding the wine glass and placed it on the server's tray with such elegance.
A stark contrast to his disheveled state.
"You've gone too far." Eileen said, raising her hand to slap Thalia.
Before Thalia could react, a hand reached out from the side, stopping Eileen's hand mid-air.
"Mrs. Jimenez, young people's conflicts should be resolved by themselves. If we elders interfere, wouldn't that be inappropriate?"
"They're all adults in their twenties. If they still need their family elders to back them up when they're out, how can society function?"
Grace's words were polite and measured.
She slowly released Eileen's hand.
Not a single person watching the drama spoke up. Scanning the crowd, no one stepped forward. If this were in Regal City, there would be tons of people trying to please the Jimenez family - this situation would never happen.
"Mrs. Smith, is this all the manners your daughter has?"
"Mrs. Jimenez, you're no better! This is the young people's business. They haven't even said anything, and you're already trying to hit someone. If I hadn't arrived in time, wouldn't my daughter have been slapped by you?"
Grace wasn't someone to mess with either. In this situation, if Thalia got slapped, it would be Grace's face being slapped.
If everyone was reasonable, this could be dropped. If not, they'd just have to tear off the pretense.
Besides, she and Eileen had no relationship to speak of - they just didn't want to be laughed at.
"Mrs. Jimenez, you're really something. Everyone in Regal City knows you look down on Michael, constantly suppressing him, not even letting him get involved in any Jimenez family matters. But now you're protecting him? Don't tell me you're putting on a show for someone! People from Regal City lately, I don't know what's gotten into them, always trying to marry our Emerald City heiresses. On one hand, looking down on Emerald City, on the other hand, desperately trying to climb up. Have you set your sights on someone too?"
"If you look down on them, and think they have no manners, then don't try to climb up! If they don't like you and you keep pushing yourself on them, they're not even allowed to express their opinion? How ridiculous!"
Evelyn's sarcastic remarks made Eileen's face look terrible.
Her stare could kill.
Evelyn laughed carelessly. "Mrs. Jimenez, everyone in Emerald City knows I speak my mind. My words might sound harsh, but I'm a good person!"
With that, she grabbed a towel from a server's arm and handed it to Michael. "Michael, wipe yourself off! Your grandmother doesn't completely ignore you after all!"
"Stop always acting like a helpless victim. Getting sympathy is one thing, but making people think you're useless is the real problem."
...........
In a private room on the second floor, Angelina and William sat in chairs watching the show below, with Daniel leaning on Angelina's chair, craning his neck to watch.
"Sometimes I think Ms. Smith is just like a bandit - every move she makes is deadly."
"There is a difference," William held his coffee, his tone calm and measured.
Daniel had always wondered what Thalia meant to William, so hearing this piqued his interest.
"What difference?"
"You can negotiate with bandits. Not with Thalia."
Both Angelina and Daniel fell silent.
"They really are a married couple - he knows her so well."
Angelina sighed and turned around. In the blink of an eye, the drama below had dispersed. Michael seemed to have gone to the restroom. Just as Angelina's gaze swept over.
"Your wife followed Michael to the restroom!"
Angelina continued speculating, enjoying the drama. "Michael must be going to change clothes. What if he strips naked in front of Ms. Smith - will she compare your bodies in her mind?"
"What if she finds out Michael has a better body than you and regrets what she just did?"
"Hey, where are you going?"
Before Angelina could finish her fantasy, she saw William get up and leave, his back stiff, showing no emotion.
"If he could still sit still after you said that, that would be strange," Daniel responded to Angelina while pulling out a chair to sit down......
"Ms. Smith, you have a habit of sneaking into men's restrooms to peek?"
Thalia leaned against the door with her arms crossed, her expression calm. "What are you talking about? Did that glass of wine make you stupid? Can't tell the difference between sneaking a peek and openly watching?"
"What do you think those people outside would feel if they knew that one second you were throwing wine at me, and the next you're standing here watching me undress?"
"What do I care about their feelings?" Thalia was unmoved.
"I need to change. You sure you want to watch?"
"Sure, it's not like I haven't seen men undressed before. What kind haven't I seen?"
Michael said, "Ms. Smith, isn't this a bit much?"
"When you were stirring up trouble and waiting to watch the show, did you think about how much that was?"
"Mr. Jimenez," Michael's person came with fresh clothes to deliver to the men's restroom, but seeing Thalia standing at the door, didn't know what to do for a moment.
He looked at the person in the restroom through Thalia.
"Here, give it to me!"
"Don't give it to her........"
Before Michael could finish saying "don't give it to her," Henry had already handed it over.
As soon as she got it, Thalia took the bag and tossed it into the women's restroom across the way.
"Ms. Smith.......you........"
"What? Already stuttering?"
Henry looked at Michael anxiously. "Mr. Jimenez."
Michael's face was pale now, staring at Thalia with barely contained rage in his eyes.
Wearing his wine-stained suit, he slowly walked toward Thalia. Reaching the doorway, he looked down at her from above. They were so close their breaths mingled. Compared to Michael's cold severity, Thalia seemed even more casual.
"Ms. Smith, you're completely unreasonable!"
