Chapter 382 I Have a Husband
"If you want to buy it yourself, you can." William said.
Thalia replied, "No way, I have a husband."
"You have what?" William pretended not to hear. Usually, it was so hard to get Thalia to acknowledge his status, but only at times like this, when Thalia wanted something from him, would she say such a thing.
Thalia added, "A husband."
"Honey, honey..." Thalia called out while moving closer to William, her slender fingers skillfully slipping into his pajamas. What she wanted to do didn't need to be spelled out - William saw right through it.
"Thalia, women who are too horny can't accomplish great things."
Thalia didn't care, blinking her eyes, her long lashes fluttering. "But they can sleep with men who accomplish great things."
"Besides, what great things do I have to accomplish? I'm so well-behaved during the day, what's wrong with being a little horny at night? Is it illegal or something?"
William narrowed his eyes. "Teasing me?"
"Normal needs between husband and wife, can't really call it teasing."
William pressed down Thalia's hand and flipped over to pin her down, looking down at her from above. "Don't think I don't know you're on your period today."
Only at times like this would Thalia tease him like a little fox, and in the end, wouldn't he be the one suffering?
Thalia just wanted to see him suffer.
William reached over to pull the blanket and wrapped her up in it, then held her tight.
Thalia said, "Are you planning to suffocate me?"
"William, do you have a woman you like? I die, and you can be with her."
"Think it through - marrying another woman isn't as good as being with me. I have money, I'm beautiful, I have a great body, and I'm considerate. What other woman could be like me?"
William turned off the light with one hand, hugged Thalia with one arm, and covered her mouth with his other hand.
Forcing her to shut up.
.........
"Ms. Smith, please show your invitation."
Thalia pulled out the invitation from her bag and handed it to the server at the door.
As soon as she walked in, she saw Evelyn chatting with Nicholas's dad about something.
Seeing her, they came over.
"What were you talking about?" Thalia asked.
"Haven't seen Nicholas in a while, just chatting with his dad."
Today, Thalia wore a black bodycon skirt that showed off her perfect figure while also giving off a clean, sharp vibe.
Her long hair was casually pinned up - this look rarely appeared in Thalia's life.
"Just came from the set?"
"Yeah, where's Nicholas?"
Evelyn, afraid of being overheard, leaned close to Thalia and said, "You'll have to ask Mr. Brown about that."
Thalia didn't say anything.
Evelyn added, "I just saw Michael."
Michael?
He was here? Did that mean other people from the Jimenez family are here too?
"Where?"
"Over there..."
Thalia looked in the direction Evelyn indicated and saw Michael standing next to Steven, chatting with several government officials.
Their attitude toward him could almost be described as fawning.
"No wonder Eileen is so cocky! Turns out the Jimenez family really does have some clout in the industry."
Thalia looked away without saying anything.
Seeing a server walk by, she asked for a glass of water.
"Ms. Smith, what a coincidence."
"Mr. Jimenez, it really is quite a coincidence."
"Here alone?"
Thalia glanced at Evelyn. "What? Doesn't Ms. Thomas count as a person in your eyes?"
"I meant, a male companion."
"If I said no, would you ask if I'm willing to... I'm not willing, so you don't need to say the rest."
Michael was speechless.
There probably wasn't a second person in Emerald City with Thalia's kind of personality.
That self-important, I'm-the-center-of-the-universe attitude.
"Ms. Smith, if there's any misunderstanding between us, we can sit down and talk it through."
"Mr. Jimenez, you think too highly of yourself. Most people don't have what it takes to have a misunderstanding with me."
"Michael."
An elderly voice interrupted the less-than-friendly atmosphere between them.
When Thalia saw Eileen, she almost couldn't hold back her laughter. The whole family is falling over themselves, huh?
"You know Ms. Smith?"
"We've met a few times."
"Michael, are you sure we've only met a few times?"
Hearing Thalia say this, Michael had an ominous feeling.
Thalia knew Michael wasn't favored in the Jimenez family, and Eileen was especially guarded against him. Now that she was positioned between them, with both Eileen and Michael standing in front of her, she had to make good use of this opportunity to widen the gap between these two.
Otherwise, the Jimenezes would just keep bothering her.
How boring would that be?
Eileen's eyes changed, just for a moment, but Thalia caught that moment.
"Really? I've never heard Michael mention it."
Thalia laughed. "I heard that in the Jimenez family, Mr. Jimenez has no say. Does someone with no say even get a chance to speak? Mrs. Jimenez, are you joking with me?"
After speaking, Thalia looked at Michael with a questioning gaze. "Or are you saying, Mr. Jimenez, that everything you told me was fake?"
"Forget it, we can't interfere in other people's family matters. It's not a good thing to begin with. It's one thing if they embarrass themselves in Emerald City, but let's not embarrass ourselves all the way to Regal City." Evelyn walked over at the right moment and linked arms with Thalia.
She looked at Michael meaningfully.
"Mr. Jimenez, take care of your own family matters. Don't drag outsiders into it - it's embarrassing."
That contemptuous look swept from Michael to Eileen.
Eileen was furious at being looked at this way. When had she ever been humiliated like this by someone younger?
That look was pure contempt.
"Stop right there." Eileen's furious tone made most of the people present turn to look at her.
"Ms. Smith, is this your upbringing?"
"What about your upbringing? At your age, you haven't even learned basic manners, and you want to question me?"
"I don't want to get involved in your family's mess. Don't keep coming to me looking for trouble. If you're sick, go get treatment. If you can't be cured, check yourself into a mental hospital. Don't come out here causing problems for others."
Michael stood to the side watching the show. Seeing Thalia go up against Eileen, he was thrilled, but he still had to keep up appearances. "Grandma, calm down. With so many people around, we don't want to cause a scene."
Thalia figured it out - Michael just wanted to watch her and Eileen fight, then reap the benefits. Even if he couldn't benefit, he could at least enjoy the show.
With this thought, Thalia raised her hand and splashed the wine in her glass at them.
