Chapter 360 Thalia's Cries in the Room
Thalia had such a sharp tongue - when she was not feeling well, she would snap at anyone.
William gave in.
Guess he was stuck with Thalia for life.
Vaughn had taught him since childhood to be emotionally stable, and to save his feelings for Thalia.
Upstairs, William was carefully applying medicine to Thalia's waist.
Downstairs, Finn kept checking his phone for the time. "Fallon, where's Mr. Brown? If we don't leave soon, we'll be late."
"I'll go check." Fallon didn't dare delay. He turned and headed upstairs to get him. Just as he reached the living room door, he heard Thalia's cries from inside.
"Be gentle!"
Fallon's back went numb, and he quickly went back downstairs.
"Where's Mr. Brown? Why did you come down alone?"
Fallon looked a bit awkward. "Let's wait a bit longer!"
Finn got it.
William, who'd been so consistent for years, had completely lost his reputation since meeting Thalia.
All his principles - gone without a trace.
Finn leaned against the car and smoked a cigarette. When Brian called, he tossed out, "Mr. Brown isn't up yet."
Brian stepped out of the conference room with his phone, lowering his voice. "Are you kidding me?"
"He's not the type to sleep in."
"How should I know? You call Mr. Brown."
Brian said nothing.
..........
"How are you doing?"
"Terrible!" When Layla's call came through, Thalia was learning to eat with her left hand.
"How terrible?"
Thalia held up her right hand to the camera to show her.
Layla thought for a moment and said, "Come to the company this afternoon and let me take a photo to send to the director."
"They weren't happy with you the other day. If I go settle the score with them now, wonder if they'll still be so pleased."
"Don't wait till afternoon, I'll send you photos right now." Thalia immediately sent over two pictures. The angles were well-chosen, making it look especially serious - she'd specifically asked Fallon to take them last night.
She'd given him strict instructions to capture how miserable she looked.
Fallon took dozens of shots before she picked out two.
When Layla found the director, he had just finished a meeting with some crew members and staff, discussing how to keep things from leaking out.
When Layla found him, she first reassured him, promising there wouldn't be any problems on their end, then went on about how miserable Thalia was.
The director's heart ached listening to it.
Any complaints he had about Thalia disappeared.
After breakfast, Thalia called for John. John told Thalia about last night's situation.
"Windstorm Hall?"
"That's what Ms. Mitchell said."
"What else did she say?"
John shook his head. "She's probably just heard of it but never seen it. Ms. Mitchell said if Mr. Brown has the skills, he should be able to find out."
"Get the car ready, take me to see Eleanor."
At the Mitchell Group, Eleanor hadn't slept all night. After finishing her morning work, she lay down on the couch for a noon rest, her mind full of last night's nerve-wracking events.
This morning, the stock had dropped significantly, leaving her exhausted.
The secretaries had been prepared to get chewed out, but now things were eerily calm.
"Ms. Elowen Mitchell, Ms. Eleanor Mitchell said no one can go in without her permission."
At the office door, Elowen appeared with a swollen red face - clearly just been slapped, and from the marks, by a man.
"Do you know who I am? How dare you stop me? Believe it or not, I can make sure you don't last the day?"
Seeing Elowen's arrogant attitude made the secretary furious, but there was nothing she could do.
Elowen was part of the Mitchell family.
The secretary could only hold it in.
Compared to Eleanor, who worked hard and led them to prosperity, Elowen really couldn't measure up.
"Let her in."
Inside the office, Eleanor sat up and leaned back on the couch with her eyes closed.
When Elowen came in, she opened her eyes briefly. The marks on Elowen's face didn't surprise her.
It would be weird if her grandfather didn't hit her.
"Seeing me like this, you must be really happy?"
Eleanor opened her eyes and pointed at the mountain of files on the desk across from her. "You think I have time to be happy?"
"Elowen, if you're bored, go home and work on your IQ. Don't come here looking for attention."
"This is my territory too. Why can't I come?"
Hearing this, Eleanor let out a cold laugh, walked over to the computer, and turned the screen toward Elowen. "See that? That's all thanks to you."
Elowen's face darkened.
Thalia had come from far away to find someone, and before even reaching the office, she saw this scene. She couldn't help but laugh out loud without holding back. "Eleanor, saying that to her won't help - she won't get it. Try a different approach."
"Like, just tell her directly how many designer bags today's company losses could buy."
"What are you doing here?" Elowen's face soured when she saw Thalia.
"Why can't I come? An idle person like you can come, why can't I?"
Eleanor had a headache. One Elowen was annoying enough, and now here came Thalia too. She was so annoyed that she wanted to explode on the spot.
"Thalia, you go out first."
"No," Thalia said sweetly. "I'm better looking than her, more useful than her, make more money than her - why should I leave?"
Elowen was speechless.
Had Thalia lost her mind? Actually acting cute with Eleanor?
"What's your relationship?"
"Guess," Thalia said lazily, leaning against the door, looking at Elowen.
"If I were you, I'd go home right now and put some ice on that face. Raymond already doesn't care for you, and if you get scarred, he'll have even more reason to cheat."
"Then again, someone like you who bullies the weak - you only dare pick on Eleanor because she can't be bothered with you. Why don't you try bullying Raymond?"
"As a woman, I'm ashamed of you."
"Shut up," Elowen couldn't out-argue Thalia and furiously pointed her finger at her.
"You want me to shut up? Why don't you try claiming all the oxygen on Earth while you're at it?"
"You've got some nerve - eating her food, drinking her drinks, using the fruits of her labor to enjoy life, and then when you can't cut it yourself, you come here to yell at her. If I were you, I'd be too embarrassed to even show my face here."
