Chapter 348 Do You Still Have Strength?
[OMG, which big shot is behind this grand gesture on Mistwood Hill? Stars all over the sky plus fireworks]
[Who's lucky enough to have this kind of romance?]
[Whose private residence is at the top of Mistwood Hill? Can someone fill me in?]
[I'm dying to know. I don't mind that this happiness isn't mine, but can someone tell me what it feels like?]
[Where are the entertainment reporters? Stop digging into actresses all the time. What's so interesting about celebrity gossip? Aren't you guys curious about these wealthy tycoons' love stories?]
At the hotel, Michael was scrolling through the local Facebook feed on his phone. When he saw the gossip, he surprisingly had the patience to read through it all bit by bit.
When he saw everyone desperately wanting to know who owned the property at the top of Mistwood Hill, William's image inexplicably popped into his mind.
"Do you think the villa on top of Mistwood Hill could be William's private residence?"
"Unlikely! We had people tail him. Mr. Brown's personal car goes to the Brown Mansion or his apartment every day."
"Every day?" Michael asked.
The other person nodded. "Yes."
"But I heard that William is extremely cautious and never exposes his whereabouts. He always has bodyguards when he goes out. How could someone like that let people know his daily movements?"
"You mean it's a smokescreen?"
"Possibly."
"Then I'll go check it out again."
"No need," Michael stopped him. "Don't provoke them lately."
The man paused, knowing about how a few days ago, Michael had saved him from Thalia's hands but was humiliated with money.
"My grandmother has already sent people."
............
"You're saying your grandfather is on his way to Emerald City?"
"Yes, I was told when I got back that he left a while ago. He should be here by now."
Eileen was startled. If Steven came, the whole situation would change. He trusted Stefan one hundred percent. She wasn't happy about bringing William back to Regal City in the first place. If he found William in person, it would be bad for her, not good.
Before Eileen could hang up, Steven's call came through.
After a brief chat, Eileen reluctantly changed clothes to pick him up.
"Aren't you in poor health? Why did you come here?"
"If I didn't come, I'm afraid Stefan would lose his life."
"It's just Stefan. Is it worth risking your health like this?"
Steven didn't respond to her comment. He had just sat down on the sofa and hadn't even had a sip of water when, at two in the morning, there was a knock at the door.
Eileen got up to answer it. She saw a well-dressed man in a suit standing at the door, dignified and composed with a military bearing.
"Who are you looking for?"
"Mr. Brown asked me to invite Mr. Jimenez for a meeting."
"Mr. Brown?"
"William," Finn said, neither humbly nor arrogantly.
"Mr. Brown is quite something, inviting people for a meeting in the middle of the night. Does he know any manners?"
Finn glanced at Eileen. "Regal City has Regal City's rules, Emerald City has Emerald City's rules. Mr. Jimenez can't even dominate in Regal City anymore, let alone have a say in Emerald City. He should be grateful that Mr. Brown is willing to see him."
"How dare you?" Eileen looked at Finn, so angry she almost cursed. No matter how bad things got for the Jimenez family, they still stood taller than others. Besides, her eldest grandson was currently in a position of power with a promising future.
What was William?
From the Jimenez family's perspective, he was just an abandoned child.
From his birth mother's current position, he was just an illegitimate son who couldn't be presented in public.
If William wasn't somewhat useful, would they bother bringing him back to Regal City?
"If you won't see him, then forget it." Finn didn't insist and turned to leave.
"Wait," Steven stood up. "I'll go with you."
Stefan had been in Emerald City for so long without seeing William and had almost lost his life.
This showed William's status in Emerald City.
Now that the opportunity was right in front of him, if he didn't go, it would be hard to say when he'd get another chance.
Steven followed Finn into the car. The car took various winding routes and detours, finally stopping at a courtyard with a simple architectural style.
"Mr. Jimenez, please."
"Where is this?" Steven asked.
"Mr. Brown's private residence."
"Is he inside?"
"I'm not sure. Mr. Brown only instructed us to bring you here."
Steven stepped inside. There were servants serving tea. On this early autumn night, the windows were wide open, cool breezes blowing, bamboo shadows swaying in the courtyard.
Steven asked for tea and waited from two in the morning until three-thirty without seeing anyone.
He called over a servant. "Where is Mr. Brown?"
The person shook their head. "I don't know. Mr. Brown only asked me to take good care of you. He didn't tell me when he'd come."
Steven had an ominous feeling that he was being stood up.
Sure enough, he didn't see anyone until daybreak.
.............
"The meeting took that long?" Eileen hadn't slept all night. When she saw him return, she rushed over.
"Didn't see him."
"He deliberately humiliated you?"
Steven grunted in acknowledgment. "I'm going to wash up and head to Westbridge University."
Perhaps because his emotions had been worn down at the private residence, hearing Eileen's shocked tone now, he felt nothing at all and was extremely calm.
After not sleeping all night, when Steven went to Westbridge University, he came up empty again. Vaughn was on leave.
He had requested extended leave due to physical discomfort from a car accident.
.............
"What are you looking at?"
Thalia groggily opened her eyes in the morning to see William leaning against the bed, looking at messages on his phone.
William didn't have any subconscious reactions and let Thalia, naked, snuggle up to him to look at the phone screen.
"You dealt with Steven?"
"Not really, just left him hanging for a bit."
"Oh," Thalia's delicate cheek pressed against William's arm, soft and warm. The man tossed his phone aside and pressed her body down onto the bed. "Got any energy left?"
"No, I have scenes to shoot this morning."
After finishing her makeup in the car, Thalia was waiting for the elevator to enter the set when the elevator doors opened to reveal Eleanor standing inside.
The overwhelming smell of alcohol hit her nose.
Thalia raised her hand and waved it in disgust.
Eleanor thought she was seeing things. She checked her watch - it really was six-thirty. She had been drowning her sorrows until six-thirty and was too lazy to go home, planning to go back to her office to shower and go straight to work. Thalia had already done her makeup and was ready to shoot?
"Ms. Smith, you're quite dedicated."
"Ms. Mitchell, you're quite dedicated too. Tell me, you work yourself to death as the family breadwinner - is what you earn in a month enough to cover Elowen's expenses for catching cheaters?"
