Chapter 345 Mr. Brown Stands Up for His Wife

Chapter 346 Hundred Days Wedding Anniversary

"Ms. Jolie, you brought me here to eat?"

Eleanor, dressed in a women's suit, followed Angelina all the way into an upscale restaurant. This high-end restaurant was extremely famous in Emerald City. It had been blowing up online lately.

Advertisements were everywhere, and even someone like her who didn't frequent such places knew about it.

The restaurant advertised itself as a couples' restaurant.

High prices, exquisite décor—it had become a popular blind date spot among Emerald City's high society.

Angelina had called Eleanor in a rush today just to bring her to eat at a place like this.

"I originally said I wanted to meet you to discuss something, but you know, at my age, I still don't have a boyfriend. My family's pretty anxious about it, so they arranged a last-minute blind date for me here. Would you mind helping me size him up?"

Afraid Eleanor would refuse, Angelina quickly added, "Based on my past experience, it won't take more than twenty minutes."

"That's pretty long," she usually wrapped things up within ten minutes.

"Then I'll make it quick, definitely won't waste your time."

Eleanor looked around the restaurant, trying to find an empty seat, but didn't expect this place to be so packed—completely full. Without a reservation, there was simply no place to sit.

"Ms. Mitchell, stop looking. This place is the latest internet-famous spot. People checking in, going on blind dates—all kinds of reservations need to be made a week or more in advance. Don't struggle, just join me." Angelina pulled Eleanor to sit with her. They'd barely sat down and hadn't even opened the menu when a man appeared across from them.

He wasn't even close to decent-looking, barely 5 feet 7 inches tall. The platform shoes on his feet were almost higher than her 2-inch heels. A cheap white shirt tucked into wrinkled black dress pants, his whole body greasy like he hadn't bathed in weeks—just looking at him made you think he'd smell bad.

"Are you Angelina?"

"No," Angelina refused without thinking. She wondered if her own mother had even met this guy—what kind of trash was she being set up with?

A man this low-class was worth her time?

"But this is the seat we reserved."

Angelina replied without missing a beat. "Really? I wouldn't know about that. The restaurant said no one had reserved it, so we came."

The man looked at Angelina suspiciously, then at Eleanor, thinking these two looked like elite businesswomen just from their appearance. A single accessory they wore could buy his car—they looked sharp and not easy to mess with.

The bag beside them was worth half his apartment.

The man didn't argue, said sorry, and left.

Less than five minutes later, after Angelina had ordered and handed the menu to the waiter, her phone rang. Without thinking, she hung up directly.

It rang again! She blocked the number.

Eleanor watched and laughed lightly. "Pretty decisive!"

"Fast enough?"

"Ms. Jolie, do you care about appearance?"

Angelina picked up her glass and took a sip of water. "Good looks determine whether I want to get to know their interesting inner self. If someone's appearance doesn't appeal to me, what's the point of an interesting personality? After all, I'm so busy, I don't have time to go home and explore the mysteries of someone's soul."

"Ms. Jolie, aren't you afraid of missing out on some hidden gem?"

"I am the gem!"

Eleanor laughed, and while the waiter was serving food, she leaned back lazily in her chair and looked at her. "Can you tell me now? What's the real reason you asked me out?"

"To eat! What else could it be?"

Eleanor leaned back in her chair, looking at Angelina, then, after a while laughed. "Mr. Brown sent you, didn't he?"

"Mr. Brown wouldn't have you accompany me on a blind date."

"Let me guess," Eleanor leaned forward, propping her chin on her hand as she looked at Angelina. "I originally had dinner plans with the film crew tonight, then suddenly got your call asking me to eat. All of this was arranged by Mr. Brown for Thalia, wasn't it?"

Angelina blinked, looking somewhat innocent. "I really don't know about that. As subordinates, when our boss makes a request, we just carry out the task. How would we dare guess so much? What you're saying, I really don't know. If you want to know, when I get to work tomorrow, I'll help you ask and then answer you?"

"Ms. Jolie, you really are Mr. Brown's capable assistant!"

"An assistant is always just an assistant, how could I compare to being your own boss!"

"From what you're saying, do you have complaints about Mr. Brown? You and I go way back—if you ever want to change bosses, you could consider me."

"Sounds good to me." Angelina played along casually.

After finishing dinner with Eleanor, as soon as she got in the car, her secretary came up to gossip with her.

"Finn said today is Mr. Brown and Mrs. Brown's hundred-day anniversary. Mistwood Hill is quite the spectacle right now."

"Look at this video."

Angelina cursed under her breath and picked up her phone to look.

In the video, Thalia seemed to have just gotten home, wearing a cheap t-shirt and jeans, a pair of washed-out canvas shoes on her feet that clashed with her status and were even more insulting to a luxurious place like Mistwood Hill.

William was in a custom-tailored suit, still wrinkle-free after wearing it all day, his upright posture like a soldier from the military.

He was half-supporting Thalia's hand as they walked toward the central lawn at Mistwood Hill. In just a few dozen seconds of video, Angelina saw a knight and princess love story.

How blessed Thalia was!

She had her real father when she was young, and now she had William. Any page of her life script was a winning hand.

And William would probably be devoted to Thalia for the rest of his life.

Angelina returned the phone to her secretary. "I did all the work, but got none of the benefits."

"Ms. Jolie, where are we going now?"

"Home to get scolded!"

She didn't need to think to know her mother was waiting at the door to give her a piece of her mind!

…………

At the Mistwood Hill back garden, Thalia stood in the early autumn garden, looking at the flowers arranged there, then at William with some confusion. "What day is it today?"

"You forgot?"

"Is it important?"

Thalia felt a bit guilty saying this. What day could William remember that she didn't?

If William found out, wouldn't he be upset with her?

William didn't bother arguing with her and pointed to the center. "Go stand over there."

Thalia was a bit scared. "I'm afraid?"

William's eyes darkened.

Thalia nodded repeatedly in fright. "I'll go."

The instant Thalia walked over, all the lights at Mistwood Hill went out, followed by starlight filling the sky, spreading from the garden all the way to the distant hills.

The stars were brilliant, and everything in the world fell silent.

Thalia was stunned. In her life, living under her parents' care, she had experienced many luxurious scenes, but this was the first time for something like this.

She opened her mouth, staring at William in amazement.

Then she heard the man speak slowly, his tone steady. "Thalia, everything you want, I will make happen."
