Chapter 127 The Man Falls to Flat Land, Rich Woman's Love
Emma hated Evelyn just as much as she hated Thalia. The elite circle in Emerald City was only so big, with all sorts of cliques, but what made them different was that Evelyn and Thalia were practically in a league of their own.
No one could get in.
Emma withdrew her scrutinizing gaze from Andrew and spoke sarcastically: "How come I didn't know Ms. Thomas had gotten so close to my man?"
"Your man?" Evelyn mulled over those words.
"Ms. Wood went in for a month, and you're sure he's yours? When the mighty fall, rich women come calling. Emerald City has plenty of everything else, but especially rich women. People like Ms. Wood who spend their family's money and allowance to keep men—they're everywhere."
"Ms. Wood gets about $300,000 a month in allowance—is that even enough for herself? And she's keeping a man?"
About $300,000? Andrew's hand under the table clenched.
He had thought Emma was very wealthy.
When Emma was his fan representative, she threw money around freely, giving off an air of wealth and privilege.
Three hundred thousand dollars wasn't a small amount for Andrew now.
But compared to when he was Best Actor, it was a drop in the bucket.
Evelyn mocked her—everyone knew the lifestyle of these wealthy young ladies in Emerald City's elite circles. Each month they took their family trust funds and lived in a drunken, dreamlike stupor.
Occasionally they had to play with new toys.
Wasn't Andrew just that new toy?
"Is Ms. Thomas so concerned that you want to give me money to spend?"
"As if you're worthy?" Evelyn glanced at her haughtily.
Andrew suddenly remembered Evelyn's words: Emma? She's not even worthy of carrying my shoes.
Looking at it now, she really wasn't worthy.
Emma stood no chance against her.
Evelyn knew when to quit while ahead. Before leaving, she even patted Andrew's shoulder: "Waiting for your reply."
Emma watched Evelyn leave, then asked Andrew in an unfriendly tone: "You know her?"
"I ran into her once when I was looking for you," Andrew answered honestly.
"Think it through—if you still want to make it in the entertainment industry, you'd better behave," Emma stood up, grabbed her bag, and left.
........
Evelyn held her phone and after hanging up, sent Thalia a message: "Satisfied? Mrs. Brown"
Thalia sent back an emoji.
Thalia was about to say something to Evelyn when someone knocked on the bathroom door: "Thalia?"
"What?"
"Still not done washing?"
"........" Who rushes someone taking a bath?
"Do you need something?"
William thought to himself that you can't talk too normally with Thalia, or you'll be driven crazy by her cold, indifferent tone.
William paused: "Worried you might drown."
"How thoughtful of you. I won't drown just yet," Thalia felt the bathwater had cooled enough and put down her phone to get up.
When she came out wearing William's oversized pajamas, she saw William standing at the door in casual formal wear, having just pulled out a cigarette, seemingly about to smoke.
This was........
"Going out?"
"Changing locations."
William held the cigarette he'd just pulled out in one hand, then casually grabbed a set of old clothes that Thalia had left here at some point and handed them to her.
"Mr. Brown, quite the player—you even have women's clothes in your place?"
"Take a good look at whose clothes these are."
Thalia shook out the clothes and tossed them on the bed, awkwardly touching her nose.
"It's the middle of the night, why change clothes?"
"Going home."
"What home? Whose home?" Thalia was confused for a moment, unable to figure out what William meant.
Half an hour later, Thalia sat drowsily in the passenger seat, watching as William's car wound its way into the famous Maple Grove Villas in Emerald City.
Speaking of luxury estates, the top three in Emerald City were Maple Grove Villas, Sunset Grove Villas where Thalia currently lived, and Golden Valley where William lived.
These three places were called the wealthy districts by people in Emerald City, and Maple Grove Villas was the most expensive of them all.
Supposedly it had been bought by a private party a couple years ago, who fenced off land to build a villa complex and sold units after asset verification.
This made many big shots in Emerald City extremely bitter. Plenty of people had their eyes on this prime location, but someone had quietly snatched it up, and to this day no one knew who the tycoon behind it was.
What was even more infuriating was that they couldn't afford the private villas here.
When Thalia saw the gates of Infinity Villas, she perked right up: "Mr. Brown, are you really that rich?"
You can afford a house that requires $2 billion in verified assets?
"Happy? Found yourself such a rich husband," William gripped the steering wheel and drove up the mountain with practiced ease, with Finn following at a distance behind.
"Happy. I'd be even happier if you could put this house in my name."
William curved his lips, eyes on the road ahead, reaching out to touch Thalia's head: "As long as you're good enough, I'll give it to you."
"Are you good?"
Thalia nodded—she had to be good, each house here started at hundreds of millions of dollars: "Good."
"Then if you're good, I won't put it in your name."
Thalia: ........."You're really mean."
"Isn't that exactly the kind of bad boy you like?"
Thalia couldn't be bothered to argue with him. She'd already gotten the man, so she had no desire to flirt with him anymore.
Only people who haven't had the meat yet would crave it. Someone like her who was stuffed full—disgusted!
"What else don't I know about Mr. Brown?"
"Quite a lot. You can explore slowly," the words were normal enough, but coming from William's mouth, they somehow felt suggestive.
"You brought me here today to show off your mansion?"
The car kept climbing toward the mountaintop. Though it was nighttime, seeing the night view from this mountaintop, Thalia felt genuinely shocked.
Standing at the mountaintop overlooking the entire Emerald City nightscape.
How spectacular was that?
"I don't have that kind of hobby," William looked at Thalia standing motionless by the car and reached out to take her wrist and lead her forward.
"Then why did you bring me here......."
"Wedding house," William tersely threw out two words.
"Were you planning to marry another woman, got dumped, and then thought the house shouldn't go to waste so you brought me here?"
Hearing this, William suddenly stopped. Thalia didn't notice and bumped right into William's broad back.
"Thalia, when will your brain ever work normally?"
Thalia lowered her head and touched her nose: "That hurt. Good thing my nose is real."
William: ..........
Thalia was always a master at playing dumb. If she were a man, she'd definitely be a typical player.
The villa door was pulled open, and Thalia stood frozen in place, stunned!
