Chapter 126 He Is Human, Not an Engine

Chapter 126 He Is Human, Not an Engine

When men get flirty, women really don't stand a chance.

William's "forty-two days" made Thalia freeze up completely - it hit her like poison.

This man had some moves.

Thalia extended her slender fingers to push William away, leaning crookedly against the sofa: "So shouldn't Mr. Brown talk to me about the case now?"

William grabbed Thalia's fingertips, slowly playing with them in his hand: "I'll tell you when you need to show up. I won't let you lose, don't worry."

Thalia stared at William, trying to read his emotions.

In the dark living room, with only scattered light helping her see, Thalia pulled her hand back: "Mr. Brown won't screw me over, right?"

William chuckled softly: "Isn't it a bit late to worry about that now?"

She was already in the wolf's den. No matter how much she struggled, she couldn't escape William's grasp. Plus, now there was legal backing - wasn't Thalia completely at William's mercy?

She couldn't win against him before marriage, so now that they were married, wouldn't she just get played?

From the teasing look in William's eyes, Thalia could tell what he was thinking. She pushed him away, wrapped herself in a blanket, got up and walked to a nearby guest room to shower. After trying the doorknob for a while, she found it wouldn't open.

Thalia turned to look at William: "Mr. Brown, what's the meaning of this?"

"It's broken, use the master bedroom."

"How is such an expensive place like a rental apartment," Thalia complained as she entered the master bedroom.

Seeing Thalia go into the master bedroom, William bent down, pulled open the drawer under the coffee table, took out the key and tossed it under the sofa to avoid getting caught.

Broken?

Not a chance.

Sleeping together.

Was inevitable.

"Can I use the bathtub?"

"Yes."

"Towels?"

"I'll get them for you."

"Pajamas?" Thalia kept throwing out requests one by one, not finishing her sentences, making William busy around the room.

William's hand paused while getting clean towels: "Wear mine?"

Thalia thought for a moment, then refused with obvious disgust: "No thanks."

William had long heard about Thalia's pickiness and germaphobia. He nodded casually: "Then sleep naked."

Back in school, while other students sat on the grass during PE class, Thalia was stubborn - she'd rather be tired than dirty her clothes.

Her proud attitude matched her status perfectly.

"Mr. Brown, if turning your back on people was illegal, you'd get the death penalty!"

"If it were that easy to get the death penalty, Ms. Smith better watch out. The wronged ghosts on the street would probably drag a fair-skinned beauty like you home to be their ghost wife."

Thalia: "Trying to scare me?"

William placed the bath towel and pajamas in the bathroom, his tone flat: "Take a shower."

"If you're not tired..."

Thalia reached out to close the door, shutting William out.

In the bathroom, Thalia sank into the bathtub and let out a comfortable sigh.

Her back was killing her.

But this was nice and relaxing.

She lay in the tub and picked up her phone, seeing a message from Evelyn.

She called her.

"Having a late-night snack?"

"Done having sex already? That was quick? Mr. Brown can't perform! If not ten times a night, at least seven times!" Evelyn never expected to hear from Thalia tonight. With the way William took her away, she thought he wouldn't let her go until morning.

Daniel's hand paused while cutting his steak: "He's human, not a machine."

"You're not the one having sex with him, why do you care."

Evelyn rolled her eyes at him, making Daniel shut up obediently.

Thalia thought to herself - William can't perform?

She had just been crying and begging for mercy. That repressed old man William, after holding back for so long, nearly broke her back.

"Did you see Emma and Andrew?"

"Fate works in mysterious ways."

"Think Andrew would still recognize you?" Thalia asked thoughtfully.

"Want me to go stir things up with Emma?" Evelyn glanced at Emma and Andrew's interaction. She'd heard that when Andrew was a movie star, Emma practically got on her knees chasing him, but now something seemed off.

Emma's superior attitude made Andrew look more like the pursuer.

Still in pursuit, at that.

"You're so smart."

"What's in it for me?" Competing with Emma for a man was insulting to her, especially when that man was Andrew - a washed-up movie star with no money, no connections. Who knows if he had STDs or how many rich women he'd been with.

"A new bag."

"The one that costs fifty thousand dollars?" Evelyn perked up.

"Yes."

"Aren't you going broke?" She was already prepared to support Thalia financially in the future.

Thalia played with the bathwater: "Mr. Brown has money!"

"For this kind of hard work, please always come to me, Ms. Smith."

"If my best friend married someone just to use his money to support me, I could accept that."

Daniel watched helplessly as Evelyn put down her fork, got up with her phone still on the call, and walked over to Emma's table.

She walked over confidently, pulled out a chair and sat down: "Ms. Wood, what a coincidence."

"New lover?" Evelyn glanced at Emma, then let her appraising gaze fall on Andrew.

Andrew was startled when he saw Evelyn.

Isn't this...

"Ms. Wood is so lucky, always has someone waiting when you go out," Evelyn said in a mocking tone, but her eyes stayed on Andrew, practically drooling...

Emma watched, anger rising in her chest.

She'd already lost all interest in the current Andrew, but Evelyn's interference sparked her competitive spirit.

"Jealous?"

"Very," Evelyn nodded, reluctantly pulling her gaze away from Andrew.

"If I remember correctly, this is Andrew?"

"Whether it is or isn't, what's it to you?"

Evelyn rested her chin on her hand, looking at her: "The Wood family has really fallen lately, hasn't it? Does your dad still have extra money for you to keep men?"

As she spoke, Evelyn reached across the table to lift Andrew's chin: "Don't you have my contact info? If Ms. Wood can't afford to keep you anymore, remember to come find me."

Emma was shocked. When did they hook up?

She'd been having a good time with friends tonight, not even done partying yet, when Andrew showed up. She'd already lost interest in him, but those blind people in their circle kept egging them on. She had only herself to blame for being stupid enough to get involved with someone from the entertainment industry.

It caused such a scene that everyone thought she still liked Andrew.

They practically forced them together.

Good thing they did come out, otherwise she wouldn't have known that a washed-up movie star like Andrew could still be so popular.
