Chapter 111 Transfer Thalia Ten Billion to Test Strength
"Impossible. You've acted in so many romance dramas and still haven't figured out how bad men think?"
Evelyn went straight to cursing. While Angelina wanted to bring the two together, she wanted to tear them apart.
She absolutely wouldn't allow Thalia to be deceived physically and emotionally. William was such a scheming man—Thalia was no match for him.
"Is Ms. Thomas the victim?"
"Not exactly, I just don't want Thalia to become the victim."
Angelina smiled, resting her chin on her hand as she looked at Evelyn: "How could marrying Mr. Brown make her a victim? Given the current situation, is there a better option for Thalia?"
"Mr. Brown is the good option?" Evelyn shot back.
"Absolutely!" Angelina answered without hesitation.
Evelyn smiled faintly and nodded: "First transfer five hundred million dollars to Thalia to show some real capability."
Thalia raised an eyebrow. That's what best friends are for, right?
Seeing Thalia raise her eyebrow in agreement, Evelyn lifted her chin and glanced at William: "Thalia, why don't you give Mr. Brown your account number?"
Thalia looked down at William, pulled over a nearby chair and sat down, propping her cheek on her hand as she looked at him seriously: "Mr. Brown, want to?"
"Ms. Smith, dare to give it?"
Thalia raised an eyebrow and leaned in closer, a hint of charm flashing in her clear eyes.
She nearly stole William's soul.
"Why wouldn't I dare?" Thalia found William's words amusing. Not daring to accept money? What kind of logic was that?
William smiled faintly and nodded, pulling out his phone, opening the banking app, navigating to the transfer screen, and handing it to Thalia: "Here, enter the account number yourself."
Thalia glanced at him: "Mr. Brown isn't trying to trick me, right? Can you really transfer five hundred million dollars?"
"I'll give you a deposit first, then I'll write you a check for the rest, so Ms. Smith won't think I'm all talk and no action."
"When did Mr. Brown become so considerate?" Thalia was skeptical.
William was straightforward: "Just transfer it."
Thalia didn't put on airs. She took William's phone, placed it on the table, and started entering the account number.
When she got to the last four digits, the phone rang.
Thalia glanced at the number and answered. On the other end, John's voice was urgent: "Ms. Smith, Mrs. Smith says Mr. Brown has come to the house."
"Who?"
"Mr. Vaughn Brown, Mr. William Brown's father."
Thalia's heart sank. She remembered what Isla had said—Vaughn came from an established family, was upright and highly respected, and couldn't accept modern concepts like dating before marriage.
Vaughn might force William to marry you.
Thalia turned to look at William and said, "Why would your dad go to my house?"
William: ........
William stood up, grabbed his jacket from the back of the chair, and prepared to leave. Seeing Thalia still sitting there motionless, his eyes darkened: "Aren't you leaving?"
"Where to? You haven't answered me yet. Why would your dad go to my house?"
"To propose marriage."
"What?" Evelyn and Angelina said in unison.
Thalia laughed in exasperation: "Mr. Brown, what era is this? Your family still does arranged marriages?"
William shot back sarcastically: "Who's to blame? Who stood in my family's living room spouting nonsense, saying you already have my child in your belly!"
"What!"
Thalia was pulled into the elevator by William. As soon as she got in, she saw William making phone calls.
Starting with Amara, then Harper—he kept calling but no one answered.
Vaughn was a typical strict parent who had been extremely strict with William's upbringing since childhood.
Vaughn wouldn't allow him to treat marriage and love as a joke.
All to cut off any chance of him becoming a playboy.
"Couldn't your dad tell I was just saying that out of anger?"
William hung up the unanswered call and glanced at Thalia: "When you were making things up, didn't you think there might be elders at home?"
"Well, I didn't see them, and besides, wasn't I angry at Chase?"
William didn't know if he was angry or what, but he smiled and nodded: "Right, kill a thousand enemies and lose eight hundred of your own."
Thalia was left speechless and rolled her eyes toward the ceiling: "Couldn't you have talked him out of it?"
"Guess why I call him dad?"
"I call him dad, not the other way around. Whether he listens to me or not, I don't know, but... I have to listen to him."
Thalia: .........
"He's not really proposing marriage, is he?"
"That depends on what your mom thinks."
Thalia thought, this is bad. Grace had always wanted her to go after William, and now that Vaughn had come to their door, wouldn't she jump at this opportunity?
Thalia had assumed the elevator would stop at the basement level.
Unexpectedly, it stopped on the second floor. She looked up and saw Aurora Tower's manager escorting Emma into the elevator.
Lachlan was also startled when he saw William.
What a coincidence?
The first thing Emma did when she saw Thalia was look disdainful and say: "Bad luck."
"Polluting the environment," Thalia shot back.
The elevator's air conditioning sent waves of sandalwood scent to her nose.
Emma's heart tightened. She rushed in and grabbed at Thalia: "Was that you just now?"
Thalia shook off Emma's hand with utter disgust: "What dirty thing dares to touch me?"
"Was that you just now?"
"Was what me?"
"You kicked me."
Thalia's expression didn't change: "Kicking you was like stepping on something dirty. You think I'd want to touch you?"
"Stay away from me," Thalia pushed Emma, who stumbled back several steps and hit her shoulder against the elevator wall.
"Thalia, you bitch. If it weren't for you, Andrew wouldn't have been blacklisted in the entertainment industry. If it weren't for you, he wouldn't be struggling. If it weren't for you, the Wood family wouldn't be so humiliated. You think you're still the princess of Emerald City? Your dad is dying, the Smith family's status is about to fall, and I want to see how many men you'll be begging under."
Thalia slapped her across the face, then shook her hand in disgust: "The Wood family really lacks brains. From your father down to you, not one normal person."
"Your father got you out just so you could come yell at me?"
"Raised a dog and has to let it out for a walk, afraid people won't know it's a stupid dog, right?"
"You bitch..." Emma was also pretty wild in their circle. She used to restrain herself somewhat.
Later, after Walter got together with Thalia, people in the circle knew Thalia wasn't someone to mess with and showed some tolerance toward Emma. With all that tolerance, her temper grew.
Domineering and overbearing.
As if afraid people didn't know Emma's reputation.
Thalia was about to raise her hand when a palm reached out from beside her and grabbed her arm. William's low, stern voice echoed in the empty elevator: "Ms. Wood, causing trouble at Aurora Tower—can you handle the consequences?"
